Chapter 1184 Unctuous and Confusing

Chapter 1184 Unctuous and Confusing

Soon, they arrived at the Skylight Corporation.

Zach parked the car and naturally raised the partition.

He knew that Mr. Flint and Ms. Raines would be parting ways for a few hours today.

Although it was a brief separation, Mr. Flint's clingy attitude towards Ms. Raines would make these few hours feel like an eternity for him.

"A day apart feels like three years" was probably the case.

It was almost certain that Mr. Flint would seek some form of affection from Ms. Raines before they parted, whether it be a hug or a kiss. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.

In order not to disturb them and to prevent Ms. Raines from feeling embarrassed, even without Mr. Flint's reminder, Zach conscientiously raised the partition, giving the two of them some private space.

He believed that Mr. Flint would appreciate his thoughtfulness and perhaps even reward him with a bonus.

Thinking about this, Zach excitedly rubbed his hands.

It was probably because he had been with Julien for over a decade that he understood him so well.

His independent decision to raise the partition, just as he had expected, not only did not displease Julien in the slightest, but instead left him very satisfied.

'Maybe I can be rewarded with a bonus,' Zach thought.

As Julien nodded approvingly at the partition, he shifted his gaze to Sydney, who was preparing to exit the car. "I'll come pick you up after work this afternoon," he said.

"If you're done with work, then come over. If not, I can drive back by myself. You don't need to deliberately put aside your work to pick me up. After all, with such a large family business to manage, your workload is much heavier than mine. Taking time off work to pick me up will only make you busier later on. It's really not necessary," Sydney said to him with a smile.

Julien nodded slightly. "Don't worry, I won't let you bewitch me into neglecting my responsibilities."

Sydney chuckled. "Bewitch? I can't believe you're making jokes like this. Have you been watching some soap operas recently? But that doesn't make sense. You only take an interest in the news, right?"

Julien said bluntly, "I didn't used to watch, but now I occasionally do. After all, being in love also requires learning. I have to educate myself on how to nurture romance in a relationship, and how to say sweet words to bring you happiness. Zach mentioned that love also benefits from references and learning. It's through this process that we can sustain passion and novelty in our relationship over time. I find it logical, so I began to watch movies and read novels that revolve around romance."

Sydney was suddenly enlightened. "No wonder you sometimes say some flirtatious things and do some flirty actions. I originally thought that these behaviors didn't fit your personality, and I couldn't figure out where you learned them from. I assumed it must have been an innate talent of yours. After all, men always exhibit some behaviors that women can't quite understand. But now I know where your strangeness comes from."

She shook her head with a helpless smile. "It's hard to believe that you would seek advice on love and relationships from someone like Zach, who is still single. Aren't you worried that he might be giving you misguided advice?"

‘It's funny that he dared to ask for suggestions from a person who has no love experience,' Sydney thought.

After listening to her words, Julien fell into deep thought for a moment. Then he looked up at Sydney again. "Is it really strange for me to learn and do these things? Should I quit learning?"

Sydney shook her head with a smile. "Don't misunderstand me. Actually, I think it's admirable to learn how to maintain a relationship. The world today is too impetuous, and many people are unwilling to put in effort to maintain a relationship. They adopt a laissez-faire attitude, thinking that there are plenty of fish in the sea, and if one relationship ends, they can find another easily. So, it's remarkable that you are willing to put in the effort to maintain our relationship, which truly moves me. I'm just surprised because it doesn't seem to fit your personality."

"That means you still have much to learn about me," Julien said, taking her hand gently. "As long as it involves you, I am willing to go the extra mile and give my best. So, Leaf, there is still more for you to discover about me."

Sydney nodded. "Okay, to not disappoint you, I'll continue to make an effort to comprehend you until there are no more mysteries left. How does that sound?"

Julien raised his chin slightly. "Welcome."

Sydney giggled, covering her mouth. "But I suggest you don't read the things Zach recommended. If you read them too much, you might be influenced by the characters in those movies and novels and become even more corny and unctuous."

"Corny and unctuous?" Julien raised an eyebrow.

Sydney nodded. "Yes. Don't you know that the behavior of protagonists in today's movies and novels is very corny, unctuous, and confusing? Being corny is fine, for sometimes it can be quite

touching, but behaving in an unctuous manner will only confuse the audience and make them perceive it as childish. When you watch these works, don't you feel embarrassed or even disgusted, thinking that these people may have some sort of mental disorder?"

Julien fell silent, recalling the time when he had taken Zach's advice to learn how to nurture a relationship and become a more romantic person. That was why he began watching soap operas.

Initially, he did experience the discomfort, disgust, and embarrassment that Sydney had mentioned.

Yet, even after all this time, he still hadn't grown accustomed to the content. Every time he watched, he experienced a range of those feelings.

Upon hearing Sydney's words, he finally understood that those feelings were not solely due to his unfamiliarity with such content. Instead, the content itself inherently evoked a sense of discomfort in people.

"So, if I have those feelings, it means the characters and their behaviors in those works are unctuous and confusing?" He cleared his throat and voiced out his doubts.

Sydney nodded. "Exactly. The characterization is poor, the plots are contrived, and what is meant to be a sweet romance ends up feeling artificial and insincere. Even the interactions between the protagonists give off the impression that it is not about genuine affection, but rather a sense of coercion, as if someone is holding a knife to their backs, forcing them to act in such a manner. As a result, when the audience witnesses their embraces, kisses, and other intimate acts, they don't experience any sense of sweetness, but rather feel awkward and perplexed. How can people truly learn and draw inspiration from such works? So, don't let them influence you and turn you into an insincere and perplexing person."

Julien nodded in realization. "I see."

No wonder he felt something was amiss when he watched those works earlier. These movies and novels were supposed to be about love, but he couldn't sense the genuine affection between the characters; instead, it felt like they were strangers collaborating for business.
