Shouldn't Have Kissed You

Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Never in her wildest dreams did she think she would be doing this again. At least not when she was

married but it seemed that everything and everyone was against her since she came to this world of

Moses. Of course, apart from her two best friends.

Wait. Where they even two? The second one had left before her graduation in college and he hadn't

even communicated. Not to anyone and worse to her. Five years down the line and nothing.6

Was that how best friends leaved? I mean, one day you've them then the next, they're gone. Or maybe

he was dead? But if he was, the Major would have sent the captain of the team along with two

lieutenant to bring the bad news to the family but nothing.

Maya forced a smile on her face as people took photos of her and her loving husband. He was hurting

her on her waist but she dare not to show. After all, she was used to faking her real emotions since she

was a toddler. It was new and neither was it going to end very soon.

To her, it seemed like she was going to be fake her entire life. It seemed like she was destined to do

that. To be fake and have no one to care. Who would anyway? When the one who are supposed to are

the one inflicting the pain.

But there was something that will always make her happy. Something that really made her smile

genially. And it was her work. She loved it and no one would take her only source of joy away from her.

Not even her own father...

What do we expect to see tonight?

Maya was jerked back to reality when she heard the question. She wasn't sure to whom it was directed

to, so she just kept her head held high and smiling at the camera. That's what she was taught since

young age and it's what she was doing.

Chris answered the question and he pushed them passed the reports and even from the back she

could hear more questions and cameras clicking at them.

"I hope that Wesley explained to you what you need to do," Chris spoke up when they got in an empty

room.

She guessed that it was an office but she had no idea it belonged to which department. They were still

at the ground floor, which meant it wasn't his. And there were no photos of him anywhere.

She looked him in the eye and said a strong yes. She was strong than he thought she was. Who

wouldn't anyway after experiencing it from your own father? To her, what doesn't kill you makes you

stronger and her father made her stronger.

Chris shifted his weight from one leg to another.

"Good. Because I don't want embarrassment from anyone and most especially, from you Jezebel."4

Of course, he hadn't gotten tired of calling her names since the day began. Before they even came to

this event he had called her all names and she, she chose to keep quiet. A times she felt like she was

an insult.

Insult to womanhood. Insult to everyone one who looked up to her. Insult to anyone who saw her as a

hero. Insult to God who was up in heaven. The one who created her with a purpose but as it turned out,

she had none in their lives. Neither her husband's nor her father's.1

Wesley had taught her what she had to do at the event. He had given her every detail about the

fashion show since she had no idea and she got everything. She was smart to know that if she dared to

mess up then it was her body to pay for.

So with everything that he taught her the passed one week. She put it in practice, like catwalks. She

practiced it till she was perfect. And when she last made sure that it was okay, she had done it in front

of Wesley who couldn't help but say good thing about her. He even went to an extent of saying that he

wished he would work with her on his line of work.

Maya laughed it off. She had nothing else to say since no one apart from work complimented her. She

liked Wesley so much that at that moment she wished he could come to her rescue. To her, she had

found another big brother who had a promising protection that she hadn't felt for five years now.

Maya watched Chris stare at her that she thought she had already done a mistake. He looked at her

from head to toe then back up but this time stopping at every curve in her body. She was slim but not

that model body as Wesley had told her she had.

She had a bit large hips than any model that she had watched on TV or seen in magazines. Her butt

was too big for her own body and her breast were medium size. And with Chris staring at her in disgust

on his face, she couldn't help but remember her dad calling her fat.

Maya knew she wasn't fat. And neither was she that much slim. But Chris knew who was who for

modeling and with that look, it helped her understand. Understand that she wasn't beautiful. That it was

her father's money that made her famous as everyone thought. That it was him from being a famous

doctor to a governor.

Chris moved his eyes from her face and looked around. She was now more nervous. If he saw her that

way, disgusting, then what about the guest out there? And the models. God, her self control was

running out and she needed someone to save her. Anyone.

Just then, the door opened and in walked the man she thought she wouldn't see all the evening. He

was dressed in grey suit that screamed money everywhere. She looked at him and gave him a smile.

He was cute with his baby face and his big blue eyes. They were so adorable that she found herself

getting lost in them.

This wasn't the first time and neither did she think it would be the last.

"Are you going to get lost in my eyes or you're going to come over here and feel this six packs?"

Maya found herself laughing genuinely first time in the whole day. She moved herself from where she

stood to the waiting arms of Wesley. She felt safe in them and every time he hugged her, she just

wanted to be in those arms forever. Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

"Aren't we full of ourselves today?" She asked after awhile.

Wesley kissed her head, "it's the truth. They're six packs."

Maya pulled away from his embrace, "yeah yeah, keep telling yourself that. They are chicken packs."2

"Ouch!" Wesley exclaimed, "you hurt my pride little siz."

"I'm really sorry my lovely bro..."

"Should I call of the show so that we can watch yours?" Chris cut her. "I mean, I can do that for you, all

you need is just to say it."

"Jealous much?" Wesley asked moving to where he stood," sorry love, I totally forgot, with beauty like

hers, I seem to forget your handsome face."

Chris moved away from Wesley when he hugged him.

"Wes, our guest are waiting," he moved towards the door, "so please, shall we?"

Wesley moved to Maya and wrapped his arm around her small back pushing her passed the door that

Chris had opened for them.

Chris followed outside, "and please get you dirty hands off my wife."4

"I'm doing nothing wrong, Chris," Wesley said turning to look at him, "I just want to help her get off this

dress she is in."4

"What?" Chris asked not believing what he heard.

"Relax Chris, I'm taking her to change her clothes. Remember."1

Chris moved to them and pushed Wesley's arm away from her waist, "not with that arm around there

and please, don't try anything stupid. And I give you twenty minutes."

"Twenty minutes?" Wesley repeated," they can't even..."

Chris moved away from them, "twenty minutes Wesley."

"You jealous pig," Wesley shouted after him.

Chris turned back with a smirk on his face, "the clock is sticking."2

Maya pulled Wesley away before he could say anything. He wasn't the one who was going to pay for

being a second late but her. She just had a feeling that the night was far from over.
