Unfit to father her child
Unfit to father her child
"Do you really want to go?" Quinn chuckled helplessly.
"Yes mum. I want to go and stay with them for a while. I will miss you though." Emelda cuddled up to
her mother.
Quinn patted her head fondly.
Her parents and grandparents were insistent that Emelda came to stay with them. They were even of
the opinion that Emelda continued schooling there.
Quinn was afraid that Emelda would be against it. After all, she was separated from her mother.
But how wrong she was!
Emelda was ecstatic about the idea.
"Okay.. I will them a call right now and tell them you are coming." Quinn smiled, though she was sad.
She was going to be separated from her daughter. She felt really really sad.
"Mum... Don't worry, you will visit me there right?" Emelda questioned with a cute smile.
"Of course I will. Mum can't bear to be away from you for so long. Silly.." Emelda snuggled closer to her
mother.
Quinn picked up her phone to call her grandfather.
After few rings, he picked up.
"Hello?" His voice sounded at the end of the line.
Quinn informed him of her decision to allow her daughter come over to be in their care. He was ecstatic
about it. He even asked her few times to be doubly sure he had heard her right.
Avie came in at that moment. She had received a call from her boss.
"Book a flight to Washington DC. I'm taking Emelda to stay with my parents and grandparents." Quinn
instructed.
Avie was surprised but she didn't say a word. She only bowed and left.
She was surprised because Quinn always wanted her daughter to be close to her. Then why did she
want to send her away?
Was there a reason behind her decision?
===============
Washington DC.
The Stones family mansion.
Emelda was happily playing with her grandma. Quinn looked at them and felt her heart ache.
Now that she had brought her over, she suddenly didn't want to leave.
Emelda was like oxygen that she needed to survive...
"How have you been?" Her mother asked.
"Fine mum. Just a little bit stressed out." Quinn smiled.
"Why don't you leave the Corporation? We have a lot of jobs for you to choose from. Why choose the
Corporation?" Her father asked the same question they always asked her.
She didn't respond as usual. She only smiled and turned to her grandfather.
"Grandpa, you look youthful today. What's the secret?" Quinn teased her grandfather.
"Do I? The secret is to be happy. If you have someone who takes care of you,of course you will be like
me." Her grandfather retorted.
Her mother cleared her throat at that moment,
"I have something to tell you, Quinn. Let's head to your room." Her mom whispered into her ears.
Both of them stood up and headed upstairs.
"Where are you guys going?" Her grandma questioned as she tickled Emelda. Emelda in turn burst out
laughing uncontrollably.
"To have some ladies talk." Quinn winked and followed her mother's lead as they headed to her room.
Her mom pushed the door open and walked in.
The room wasn't brightly colored. It had initially been painted black, but when Quinn had returned, she
requested for the color to be changed to grey. She even requested for grey sheets and duvets.
Quinn wasn't someone who loved bright colors; she always loved dim and not too bright colors.
Her mother once told her that she had unique taste.
Both of them sat on her bed facing each other.
Her mother cleared her throat and adjusted her position.
"Tell me the truth Quinn, what really happened between you and your ex boss?" She looked straight at
her daughter's face to observe her reaction.
Quinn became uncomfortable; why was her mother suddenly asking her something like that?
"It's fine if you don't want to talk. But, do you like him?" She directly threw the question.
She was only after her daughter's happiness... And everything a Stone wanted, they always got.
If she loved Henry,then...
"I don't..." Quinn directly responded.
"Why?" Her mother was puzzled.
"Nothing mother."
"But he is the father of your child." She pointed out.
"He's not fit to be the father of my child, mother." Quinn spat.
"Quinn... I won't ask you the reason for your statement just now. But don't you think it's unfair for your
daughter to be without a father?"
"She has a father..." Quinn turned her gaze away.
"Hahaha... What a joke. She doesn't... She has but I'm sure Henry isn't aware of your child's existence
right?" Her mother probed.
"Mother, can we stop having this discussion? I don't want to have anything to do with Henry anymore.
He was and still is a jerk... Please mom.." A tear trickled down her cheeks.
"I'm sorry Quinn,if I made you sad. A mother's priority is her daughter's happiness. When you are ready Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
to tell me all that happened, you can. And anyone who hurt you will pay triple fold." Her mother said
imposingly.
Quinn didn't doubt at all.. She was sure her mother could do just that...
But did anyone truly hurt her?
No... She hurt herself.
She allowed herself to be seduced by Henry.
But that was all in the past...
She would never allow herself to be seduced by him.
Never again...
Her mother stared at the complex expressions on her daughter's face and shook her head.
She could tell her daughter loved the so called Henry... She could feel it.
But since she didn't want to accept it, could she force her to?
"But," She paused.
"But what mother?" Quinn raised her head to look at her mother.
"Do you like Stephen?"
Quinn was surprised at her mother's question.
What was wrong with her mother today?
"I see Stephen as my friend, nothing more." Quinn replied sincerely.
She had never looked at Stephen as a man for once... She hadn't...
Although Stephen gad confessed his feelings to her,she couldn't accept.
Why?
She didn't love him. He didn't stir anything within her.
As for Henry, she could be without a man.
She needed no one...
She wanted to be independent...
