Chapter 89 Let Me Call Her
Chapter 89 Let Me Call Her
Wraith bowed his head and said softly, "It's not about the money. I've mentioned you as well. However,
Ms. Quinn has a performance right now, therefore she can't come here."
Displeased, Felix said, "Who is this person? How dare he refuse to release Quinn when I want her to
come here and perform?"
Wraith whispered, "Sir, Quinn is playing at this dinner party that is attended by the Mayor and the rest
of the leaders..."
Felix felt embarrassed immediately. Even though he was from the prestigious Logan family, he was
really nothing compared to the Mayor of Channing.
There was no way he had the ability to make Quinn leave that party and play for him here.
Feeling embarrassed and a little disappointed, he said, "I see, so she is playing for the Mayor and the
other leaders in the city. That's too bad. What a disappointment! Let's invite her another
time then."
Everyone felt a little disappointed as they thought they would be treated to a magnificent performance
by a piano maestro but it turned out to be a major letdown.
Penny was one of them. She knew that Quinn was overseas most of the time and now that she had
missed the opportunity to listen to Quinn's live performance, she did not know when she would ever
have the chance to do so.
Sensing her disappointment, Nathan suddenly smiled and said, "Penn, if you really want to see the
pianist's performance, then I'll give her a call and she will come here and perform for you."
Felix, Wraith, Lulu, Siegfried, and John, together with everyone else was stunned when they heard
what Nathan said. Then, they began to burst out in snorts of laughter.
For goodness sake! Even Mr. Felix could not convince Quinn to come here, so how could
Nathan Cross, an unemployed bum, get her away from the mayor and the rest of the leaders then?
Felix and the gang sneered while John directly jeered at him. "Hoho, have you looked at yourself in the Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
mirror lately? Even Mr. Felix failed to invite Quinn, why are you, a useless bum, boasting that you can
do it?"
This was not the first time John insulted Nathan. However, Nathan had just regarded him as a mere
clown and had never been bothered with him.
However, John was getting a little too much. Nathan's face fell and he said coldly, "What are you going
to do if I can really get Quinn to come over?"
John could not believe that a bum like Nathan was actually talking to him in that tone. He immediately
began to snigger.
John bent down and picked up the ashtray on the table in front of everybody. He emptied the cigarette
butts and ashes into a glass of red wine and spat into the
mixture.
John then pointed at that revolting glass of mixture and challenged Nathan by saying, "If you can get
Quinn here, not only will I drink up every drop from this glass, I will get myself out of here too. But, if
you can't get Quinn to come over, then you will finish up this glass and get out the h*** of here. Do you
dare to take up this challenge?”
Nathan replied coldly, "You are just bringing this upon yourself. I am telling you now, you will definitely
be downing this glass for sure."
Every single person in the room looked at the both of them and the disgusting concoction with great
interest. This is not a challenge for just anybody!
Whoever loses tonight will definitely go down in history for embarrassment!
Everyone was there as a bystander. In fact, many were chuckling as they looked at Nathan, already
assuming that he would definitely lose this bet.
After all, Quinn was still performing for the mayor and the other leaders now.
Mr. Felix was of considerable social standing, and even he could not get Ms. Quinn to come with a
handsome reward.
How would it be possible for the unemployed bum like Nathan Cross to get her here?
Felix sent John an approving look to applaud him for a job well done.
Penny looked extremely worried and was about to tell Nathan to not be so aggressive. If he loses, he
would never be able to lift his head up again.
However, Nathan assured her with a smile, "Don't worry. Since I said I'd get Quinn to come and play for
you, she will definitely be here."
