Rewriting My Heart's Fate

Chapter 346

In the following days, Kevin and I actively cooperated with the police investigation while closely monitoring media coverage.

Soon enough, the truth about Duncan's wrongdoings began to unfold.

However, I was surprised when this entire incident was overshadowed by something else entirely.

The police managed to resolve the situation, and the conclusion left me stunned, especially when the officers stood before me to explain.

"Based on our investigation, the assailant was simply trying to rob you. There was no intent to hire someone to kill you."

adeneves, barely able to believe my ears.

That couldn't possibly be just robbery. That man had clearly targeted me and even left behind remarks connected to Duncan. Could that just be acoincidence?

"But the knife he had, the way he attacked me, and what he said didn't feel like it was just a robbery." I tried to explain, but my voice grew weaker.noveldrama

Kevin squeezed my hand, signaling me to remain calm. He looked at the police, his expression full of confusion and disbelief.

The officer seemed somewhat awkward but patiently continued explaining the situation. "We understand your concerns, but he was indeed just a common robber upon investigation. As for why he said what he said, we're still looking into it." I closed my eyes, feeling a mix of helplessness and disappointment. I had thought I had uncovered the key evidence to expose Duncan's crimes, only to discover it was merely a misunderstanding.

Yet, despite that, I couldn't shake my lingering doubts.

Was the attacker really just a coincidence? Or was there a larger conspiracy at play?

In the following days, Kevin and I continued to gather evidence, preparing to expose Duncan's misdeeds to the public.

At the same time, we began to realize that there might be deeper darkness lurking beneath the surface.

Duncan wasn't the only opponent we had to confront. We also had to be on guard against those hidden in the shadows, seeking to undermine us.

However, these events didn't pause the competition. With 25 of us advancing, I needed to look for new inspiration.

I received a phone call just then, which led me to a quiet plaza. A beautiful woman soon approached me.

"How much would it take for you to withdraw from this competition? I want my daughter to win, and you are her biggest obstacle," she said with a firm tone

I was taken aback, staring at this elegantly dressed woman. A wave of emotions surged within me.

I had never expected a competition to lead to such a direct and blatant "transaction".

I smiled slightly and shook my head.

"Ma'am, I think you might have misunderstood. This competition is not just about winning a title for me. It's a challenge and a chance to prove myself. I respect you and your daughter, but I have my own values and dreams." She seemed dissatisfied with my response, her brow furrowing, a hint of displeasure in her eyes.

"Who do you think you are? You're just a girl from an ordinary family, while I can offer you a life you could never have imagined."

I took a deep breath and stood tall. "Ma'am, everyone has the right to choose their own life. I believe that I can only earn the honors that truly belong to me through hard work and

sweat."

I knew she didn't understand my background. Because she was unaware of my circumstances, she thought I was just an ordinary young woman.

If I had a father who truly loved me, maybe I wouldn't have become so numb. But sometimes, that was just how things were.
