"OK!"
They had small talks for another while and hung up the phone. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
William and his family didn't show up while the old Mrs. Lawson was in hospital. Instead, Sophia and
Drake took up the job of taking care of her.
The old Mrs. Lawson sighed, "Sophia, I've never thought you'd wait on me some day. I thought..."
She wanted to speak out her mind but Sophia stopped her. "Grandma, what's gone is gone. Dad and
Mom were here for you when you were in need of help. I didn't help much. They should take the credit."
The old Mrs. Lawson started to like Sophia more and more. She must be blind to have hated her so
much in the old days.
"Sophia, do you blame me for treating you so badly before?"
Sophia was about to peel an apple for her and smiled, "Don't be silly, Grandma. I won't blame you. It's
common that a parent favors one of the two kids. Never mind."
The old Mrs. Lawson knew Sophia wasn't lying. If it were Cathy, she must have made a scene of it. She
wanted to know if people would be suddenly enlightened when they were dying. However, she wasn't
gonna tell Sophia her mind.
"Your mother has been looking after me these days. I don't know how much I can thank her. I've been
mean to her, but she didn't bear grudges."
Sophia finished peeling the apple and watched the old Mrs. Lawson eating it, "Grandma, in fact, you
should thank Uncle William and Aunt Bella. In so many years, they've been taking good care of you. It
wasn't easy for them."
"You're so very sweet!" added the old Mrs. Lawson, "But you don't mind what they've done?"
"They just think I'm the god-favored one and get jealous. No biggie. What's more, we're family. We
shouldn't fall out like enemies, right?"
The old Mrs. Lawson looked at her in relief, "I'm so glad that you think this way. I must say I did those
terrible things to you out of jealousy. Only God knows know much he loves you! He gives you
everything nice."
Sophia couldn't help but smile, "But, I'm your granddaughter. You should be proud."
The old Mrs. Lawson nodded, "Yeah. You're right. I should be proud of you!"
By then, the old Mrs. Lawson had finally realized that, thanks to Sophia, a lot of people in Sealand had
come visit her in hospital, including Mayor Sutton. It gave her great satisfaction when Mayor Sutton
showed her due respect. According to Mayor Sutton, he owed half of his success to Sophia. So, the old
Mrs. Lawson couldn't be more fond of Sophia.
In the afternoon, Bella dragged Cathy over to the hospital when no one was around. Cathy was still
arrogant and self-centered. She was even above to looking at the old Mrs. Lawson.
It pissed the old Mrs. Lawson off. She snapped, "Bella, why the hell did you get her over here?"
"Mom, you fell ill because of Cathy. I got her over here to apologize to you. Cathy also told me that
Abbott and Laura have been looking after you. But Cathy will stay to care for you from now on." said
Belle with a smile.
"Mom! I didn't say that! I won't stay. What the hell!" said Cathy unhappily.
"Watch your mouth, Cathy!" said Bella furiously.
"What? You got a problem with it? We've waited on Grandma each time she got sick! What's the big
deal of it if Uncle Abbott and his family took care of her for one time?"
"Shut up!" said Bella in rage.
Cathy glanced at Sophia and taunted, "She's the good person now. But I do wish to see how long she
is gonna play the good person!"
"How dare you, Cathy! I must be blind to have treated you as the apple of my eye. Get the hell out of
my face! Now! I don't wanna see you again!" the old Mrs. Lawson said furiously.
Cathy looked towards the old Mrs. Lawson, "Don't worry, Grandma. I'll leave. Just a heads-up. Do you
think Sophia really cares about you? She's faking it only to piss me off and play tough to me. She treats
you like a queen now, but I assure you that she'll be running out of patience and treat you like trash
very soon."
The old Mrs. Lawson shook with anger, "How dare you talk to me like that? I'm your grandma! I'm
disappointed at you by what you've done. It was fine if you can't play nice to me. But how could you
irritate me like that? You're an ungrateful girl!"
"Yeah. You've got Sophia. She's hypocritical but you like it, right?"
"You!"
Bella saw the old Mrs. Lawson getting sick and scolded, "Cathy! Shut up! It's enough!"
But Cathy hadn't realized her mistake and sassed, "Mom, you don't have to act like a peacemaker. I
didn't want to come but you forced me to. It wasn't my fault."
"You!"
Even Bella was speechless this time.
"Alright. I've showed up and seen her. Just leave me alone from now on!" She turned around and got
out of the room.
Bella was desperately mad. Finally, she found the opportunity to reconcile her mother-in-law and her
daughter, but Cathy had screwed it up.
Bella was anxious but still spoke for Cathy, "Sorry, mom. Cathy has been unreasonable recently.
Please don't take it to heart. I'll go talk to her!"
The old Mrs. Lawson pulled a long face, "Forget it. I know she doesn't like me. Just tell her not to come
see me again. I won't die without her!"
"Oh, mom. It's not like that..."
Bella tried to explain but the old Mrs. Lawson interrupted her, "Alright. You've done enough talking. I
know you came here against your will. You've pretended to humor me for the family properties only.
Leave! I don't want to see your face again!"
Bella was embarrassed but just left without saying anything else.
Sophia noticed the old Mrs. Lawson feeling really sick but looking away, as if she didn't want Sophia to
see her in tears. Sophia got that.
For so many years, the old Mrs. Lawson had stayed with William and his family, and thought they
treated her well from the bottom of their hearts. But things had ended up like this. She finally learned
that they didn't really love or care about her.
Sophia wouldn't try comforting her or what, because she knew the old Mrs. Lawson had to get over it
by herself.
Drake also came over to the hospital after work.
