Chapter 192 She Was A Suspect
Chapter 192 She Was A Suspect
Irene noticed Edric's tightly knitted brows and gloomy face. She knew at that instant that he was feeling
solemn.
His father had passed away early, and Margaret had taken care of him all by herself. Hence, both the
mother and son had a strong bond with each other. Today, Margaret was given a notice of her
having critical illness, and the doctors said the surgery was overly risky. If she did not survive the
operation, then she would likely remain in a vegetative state.
Irene had completely forgotten all of Margaret's insults and bullying in the past. She prayed that
Margaret's surgery would be successful. Then, Edric would not need to be depressed. In that instant,
she realized that she was still deeply in love with Edric, and that was the only reason that caused her to
be sad and worried for him.
She gently touched Edric's hand and said softly, "Edric, don't worry too much. Mrs. Myers is a good
person, so the heavens will protect her."
Edric looked up at her and replied, "I hope so." Then, he turned his head away and did not face her
anymore.
Irene's heart sank. She knew that this matter was more complicated than she thought. Edric's sudden
coldness towards her would mean that he believed Loraine's words that she injured Margaret. If that
was the case, then the situation would not be good. If Margaret remained in a vegetative state, then no
one could prove her innocence.
Just as she was about to explain herself further, Loraine, who was sitting on her right, suddenly
mumbled, "You made your words sound nice, but you're probably happy about this incident."
Irene turned to glare at her fiercely and asked, "What did you say?"
"I said I'm going to the washroom," Loraine pursed her lips and stood up. Then, she turned around and
walked to the washroom by the corridor.
Loraine took a long, deep breath once she stepped into the washroom. She checked the cubicles one
by one to ensure that they were all empty before taking out a phone from her pocket and dialing a
number.
After a while, the line connected, and she whispered, "Job's done. Margaret is undergoing surgery now,
and the doctors aren't optimistic about the situation. She might end up in a life-threatening state, so
even if she survives, she'll likely have dementia. Edric is doubtful of Irene now, and he's behaving cold
towards her...Alright, I'll call again if there are any updates."
After hanging up, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror. She seemed pale from the nervousness
just now and heaved a long sigh. The scene that happened in the Myers Family this afternoon played
back in her mind.
After Marie came to the Myers family home, she took the initiative to send the bird's nest to Irene on
Margaret's behalf. Margaret agreed due to Marie's arrival.
She had pretended to carry the bird's nest out of the door as if nothing happened. Suddenly, there had
been a blackout in the villa. She had shouted and called for the security guards from the security room
to check what went wrong. As the security guards were busy checking the issue, she let Deborah in
while everyone was distracted.
Deborah had quickly sneaked into the living room. Margaret's nurse was not working that day, so only
the guards and the driver were present at the villa. The driver, Hodge, had been on the phone with his
wife since half an hour ago and had left in a rush. While the security guards were trying to repair the
sudden blackout, the surveillance cameras were pitch black due to no electricity. Hence, their plans
had commenced.
Margaret was chatting with Marie in the living room. When she heard the noise, she turned around and
saw Deborah, who was all dressed up.
"Why are you here?" Margaret stared at Deborah in surprise. Behind her was Loraine, "Aren't you
supposed to send the bird's nest? Why are you back?"
"The driver is not here, so I'll send it later," she answered and closed the door behind her casually.
"Just call Hodge. Why isn't he working at this hour?" Margaret frowned.
"Mrs. Myers, don't be so cruel. The driver is a human too, and he has his own business to attend to. It's
really disappointing for you to treat people like this," Deborah sneered.
"You have no rights to meddle in my family's affairs," Margaret said upon hearing Deborah's insult.
"I'm going to do it anyway," Deborah sat down. "Don't you want to know why I'm here?"
"Why are you here?"
"I'm here to take revenge," Deborah glared fiercely at Margaret.
"You vicious old witch, my daughter was deceived by you and has wasted her youth all these years.
Her health has been heavily affected. How could you change your mind just like that? Are you even
human?"
Deborah had always been polite to Margaret. The sudden scolding made Margaret gasp in anger, "You
shameless mistress, how dare you come to my house and speak to me this way? Get out of here!"
"I won't leave until I get to witness your downfall," Deborah said slowly. "To tell you the truth, I came
here today just to see you die."
"You have no awareness of the law anymore! Call the security guards and get her out!" Margaret
ordered Loraine, but Loraine just stood still. Margaret stared at her and asked, "Why are you not
listening to me? Are you planning to rebel too?"
"Can't I?" Loraine sneered. "Mrs. Myers, since I came to Myers family, you've always given me a hard
time. If you don't like something the slightest bit, you'll scold me horribly. I've always wanted to ask you,
what is your heart made of? Why are you so vicious?"
"Listen to her! Listen!" Margaret didn't expect that Loraine, who had always held back, would suddenly
challenge her. She turned to Marie, who had been silent all the time.
"Have you ever seen such a wild servant? I'm going to teach you a lesson today. You useless sh*t!"
As she spoke, she grabbed the teacup and threw it at Loraine. Loraine managed to dodge it and
pointed at Margaret, "You old witch, how can you be so fierce when you're about to die? Do you really
think that no one is going to punish you?" She raised her hand and gave Margaret a harsh slap across
the face.
Margaret had always gotten everything she wanted her entire life. She had never dreamt that she
would be slapped by her servant. She panted in madness and snapped, "J-just you wait! Let's see how
I'll deal with you!"
"You want to deal with me? Are you dreaming?" Loraine challenged her. Marie, who had been silent all
this while, reached out to stop her. "One slap is enough! If you overdo it, you'll cause a bigger
problem."
Margaret turned to Marie and asked, "What do you mean?"
"I really wanted to hit you too, to be frank. However, I can't do it now," Marie explained slowly.
"Margaret, do you know how much I hate you? You're snobbish, selfish, sinister, and unreasonable like
a shrew. I, Marie Walker, had indeed been blinded to befriend you."
"You-"
"What?" Marie said scornfully, "You think you're smart, but you're as dumb as a pig. Do you not
understand what you're going to go through next?"
"You're on the same team?"
"It's too late for you to realize it now, isn't it?" Deborah added. "I want to laugh at the thought of a stupid
woman like you. You think that you're smart, but you're not. Do you know why my daughter was willing
to be pregnant with your son's child? Did you really think that it was because of Irene? Let me tell you,
that was a plot that I had planned all along. My daughter had taken an interest in your son. At that time,
I thought your family was decently wealthy. So, I fulfilled my daughter's dream. However, a witch like
you didn't never kept your word and now, you've wasted my daughter's youth. I really hate you!"
"So, Lily had a hidden agenda for approaching me. You shameless b*tch! How could you make your
daughter a mistress like yourself? Do you plan to pass down the mistress legacy in your family?"
"Anyways, you don't have much time left, so I'll let you say whatever you want. But before that, let me
tell you one thing. Do you know why Irene was infertile when she had been married to Edric for three
years?" Deborah taunted smugly. "Let me tell you, Irene wasn't infertile. We made her infertile,
understand?"
"She's actually not ill. I forged the so-called illness. As for whether she'll give birth or not, it's up to her,"
Marie added further as she pointed at Loraine.
"I gave Irene the contraceptive pills. If she took the pills, how could she be pregnant if she didn't
ovulate?" Loraine sneered along. "Then, we made her unconscious and did a tubectomy on her. Of
course, she couldn't get pregnant!"
"How could all of you be so brutal!" Margaret was trembling with anger. Looking at the three women's
malicious faces, she struggled to shout out loud, "Security! Security!"
"Don't waste your energy. I've taken the security guards away, so they can't hear you screaming for
help," Loraine leered, "Mrs. Myers, you better be obedient. Maybe you can die painlessly after all."
"What do you guys want to do?"
"We won't do anything. We've added some chemicals that can result in miscarriage into the bird's nest
that you'd prepared for Irene. We'll make Irene drink it, and she'll suffer a miscarriage from the
chemicals. Then, your sick grandchild will die due to no treatment. The Myers Family will then have no
more children to continue the family."
"I'll kill you all!" Margaret was so furious and screamed till her voice was hoarse. She stood up from the
wheelchair with all her strength and struggled to pounce on Marie.
Loraine reached out to push her down. Margaret's leg had not recovered yet, so she instantly wobbled
from the push. She suddenly tumbled down, and her head hit the tea table heavily, fainting on the spot.
Loraine reached out to check her breathing, "She's still breathing."
"Help her to the wheelchair first and wait for the security guard to come back," Under Marie's
instructions, the three of them helped Margaret on the wheelchair and turned her back to the door.
"Hodge is coming back soon. We better leave first. By the time the security guards are back, you
should show them Margaret still sitting in the living room. After the guards leave, throw her on the
ground and send the bird's nest to Irene to lead her here."
"Will Irene come?"
"Yes, we've already made the arrangements. Don't worry."
"Will she wake up all of a sudden?"
"No, she was already ill before this. Didn't you change her medication during this period? When her All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
sickness is not under control, she'll fall into a coma. Since she had fallen so down badly like that, it'd be
difficult for her to survive. By the time you bring Irene here, I think she'll be dead by then," Marie put in
extreme details in her plan.
Loraine nodded and went out to have a look. The security guards on duty had not returned yet. She
asked Deborah and Marie to leave first. After Deborah and Marie had left for a few minutes, the
security guards came back. One of the security guards went to the living room and reported, "It was the
environmental workers who were chopping the branches and had accidentally cut off one of the wires.
This caused a blackout on our side. We have already called to fix it. Someone will come to repair it
soon."
"I see. You all can go back to your work," Loraine ordered.
The security guards acknowledged her order and left. Loraine quickly helped Margaret to the second
floor, threw her on the floor, set the scene, and left with the bird's nest.
Just as she was about to go out, she told the security guards, "Be careful of any noises. Madam is
taking a nap upstairs."
Next, she had sent the bird's nest to Irene, which led her to the Myers family home. The bird's nest
given to her wasn't the batch that Margaret had prepared. Instead, it was the bird's nest that had been
thrown away that contained saffron. However, to prevent Irene from actually consuming the bird's nest
and resulting in a miscarriage. Deborah made Lily call Loraine to remind her to act uncomfortable when
she was sending over the bird's nest. She had even purposely left a piece of saffron to make it look as
if the bird's nest was not prepared properly so that Irene could spot the problem in an instant and then
question Loraine. Then, Lorraine would take the opportunity to make her question Margaret instead
and successfully frame Irene for causing Margaret to fall into a coma.
Judging from Edric's attitude towards Irene just now, he must have been suspecting Irene. However,
she needed to wait and watch the progress of the situation. She hoped that Margaret would remain
unconscious, or better, just remain in the vegetative state. That way, Irene would be unable to explain
anything.
Loraine took another deep breath in front of the mirror. After calming down, she walked out of the
washroom.
In the corridor, she watched from a distance as Edric was waving his hands at Irene. He seemed to be
triggered by something, while John was trying to calm him down.
Loraine's heart was filled with joy. Things were beginning to go according to their plan.
