Reclaiming My Broken Luna

Chapter 190: No Turning Back

Drystan's POV

My heart raced as I approached the familiar borders of the Shadowfang Pack. After three long years, Astrid is finally coming home with me.

I waited for one year and then another two years to finally be with her in my Pack. I held on to her promise that she'd be coming back no matter what.

I have everything arranged for her in the Pack. The room where she would be staying was already waiting for her. I have also informed all the Pack members that she's coming, and everyone is excited to welcome her.

For the past three years, the Pack had developed a lot, but even so, I wanted her to feel that nothing changed much since the last time she left. I don't want her to feel out of place in the Pack and make her think that the three years were too much.

My smile deepened when I already saw Astrid waiting right at the Shadowfang Pack's entrance. I wonder how long she has been standing there all alone, waiting for me. She must have been as excited as I was.

Last night, I couldn't even sleep, thinking that she'd be finally staying with us. I could already practically see what it would be like to live in the same place as her again where I could see her every day and any time that I wanted to, and I no longer have to travel long distances just to meet her.

I pressed the car's brakes when I finally arrived in front of her. She slowly lifted up her gaze when the car stopped in front of her.

My smile dropped when the smile I had envisioned on her lips was nowhere to be found. Instead, her expression was etched with a deep sorrow, her eyes downcast.

My world slowed down when I saw her expression as fear started to cloud my mind. Thankfully, the car windows were heavily tinted. Even a werewolf wouldn't be able to see through it.

I plastered an excited smile on my face and pushed away all my thoughts before jumping out of the car. I shouldn't be jumping to any conclusions yet.

My steps slowed as I approached her, a knot forming in the pit of my stomach.

Instinctively, I tried to reach for her hand, but she pulled away, her body radiating with guilt and shame.

"Astrid, what is it?" I whispered, my voice laced with concern.

I glanced around her to look for her bags so I could put them in the car, but there were none.

Astrid's gaze finally met mine. My throat constricted when I saw the anguish that consumed her. "Drystan, I." Astrid paused, her mouth agape without a sound coming out of her lips. "I'm not coming back with you," she stammered, the words barely audible.

My world seemed to shift, the ground beneath my feet suddenly unstable. "What do you mean?" I asked as I tried my best to hold back my emotions.

Astrid's eyes suddenly brimmed with tears that she was trying to hold back in front of me. My heart twitched as I witnessed how difficult this was for her.

"Did Theron asked you to do something again? Is he forcing you to stay here for a few more years?" I asked her, wanting to wipe the tears from her eyes.

"I'll go talked to him," My expression turned hard as I stepped forward, ready to fight Theron and help Astrid.

I would have done this many years

ago if only Astrid had never talked

me out of it. Astrid had lived a miserable life in her three years of stay here. Now that her term is over, Theron must fulfil his words and let her go.

Astrid grabbed my arm, stopping me from leaving. I glanced at her with my brows furrowed in confusion. Why is she stopping me?

"It's not like that," Astrid muttered with tears in her eyes. "Alpha Theron is going to introduce me as his daughter in public," she answered with guilt and shame in her eyes.

I stiffened at her words. "He left you with no choice, didn't he?" I asked her before I jumped to any conclusions.

Astrid shut her eyes tight, unable to look at me. "No, I gave him my consent."

My face paled as her words hit me

like a physical blow. I thought we had talked about this. "Astrid..." I uttered her name, desperate for hope. "If the world finds out that you are Alpha Theron's daughter then you can't be a member of our Pack anymore."

Astrid didn't respond. I knew she was fully aware of that when she made her decision.

My shoulder slumped as I felt crushed with betrayal, but all I could muster was a whispered plea, "Why?"

"I thought you don't like it here. I thought you don't want to have anything to do with your father." I spoke painfully.

'You made a promise,' I wanted to add, but I didn't

"I'm sorry... I just had to," Astrid answered, matching the pain in my voice as tears rolled down her cheeks.

I couldn't speak. I felt suffocated as I watched her trying her best to hold back her pain. I could see that she was not happy with this. She also doesn't want this. "You are doing this for revenge," I muttered.

Her eyes snapped open when she heard my words. "Drystan, I—"

"I understand," I interrupted her.ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
