Reclaiming My Broken Luna

Chapter 178: 1st Birthday

Astrid's POV

"I'm glad that Nova is having the best time of her life," Drystan spoke after he had read the letter.

I watched as he carefully folded back the letter and placed everything back in the envelope.

"She said she's going to leave to look for her mate, but she's having too much good time by herself. She's not going to find her mate if she just keeps on relaxing and enjoying herself," I replied as I took back the envelope and tucked it back inside the pocket. "How about you? Did she send you any letter?" I asked him, wanting to see what photo she had sent him.

I always felt unsatisfied with the single photos she sent me. I wish she would add more pictures. I told her to do that the last time I wrote back to her, but she still only sent one photo.

"It was just a very short letter. You know, she was just talking about her trip in Hawaii," Drystan answered as he continued eating.

"How about a photo? Did she sent you one? Did you bring it with you?" I asked him eagerly, pleading that he would also share it with me.

"I'm sorry, I forgot to bring her letter with me. You know, I always pack my things in the last minute and I'm always in a hurry. How could I remember to pack a letter with me?" Drystan replied, giving me the same excuse he had given me before.

I think he was just hiding Nova's letters from me. It must be so personal that he did not want me to see it. There's no way that Nova won't send him a letter, right? The two of them are so close.

"Beside, there's nothing to see. She also just sent me a photo of the beach," Drystan added nonchalantly.

I sighed, "I wish I went with her. I'm tired of being stuck in here. Who knows? Maybe I would have found my second chance mate if I went with her."

I was never interested in looking for my second chance, mate. All I want is to be able to avenge my child. However, the Shadowfang Pack has been hindering me from doing that.

Now, I had to wait for two more years before I could get back with Giselle.

"Back then, you were still sick, you cannot come with her even if you want to, but now... Now that you're free to leave, then we can go visit any place you want," Drystan offered with a smile on his face.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

My heart sank. It would have been so much fun if only I was free to leave, but... "Alpha Theron spoke to me earlier, he said I had to stay for two more years," I finally broke the news to him. "What?" Drystan breathed out, wiping away all the light in his face,

"I had no choice, I'm the only one who can take the position and I owe them for saving my life two times," I muttered, unable to look at him.

Drystan was silent for a moment. I could feel the disappointment radiating off him. We had so many plans, and all of them were broken. We waited for this day to come, only to have to wait for another two years.

I lifted my gaze up at Drystan when I

felt his hand wrap mine. "It's okay,

ét

Astrid. Two more years is nothing, you were able to make it for one. can make it for another

year, you

two years. Just like today, before

you knew it the two years will be

over."

My heart fluttered inside my chest when I heard his uplifting words. I know this is also hard for him. The sadness in his eyes and the forced smile on his lips show how unhappy he is with this arrangement. Yet, instead of soaking in his disappointments, he chose to encourage me instead.

"Don't worry, Astrid I can always come here once a week," Drystan assured me, making me feel bad for him.

His weekly visits are what kept me going for a year despite how discouraging my job is, but I don't want to burden him for another two years.

His job as an Alpha is already a big responsibility. Instead of taking his rests on the weekends, he still tries to come here.

"Drystan, you don't have to," I uttered.

"I know, but I want to come," Drystan replied. "I can't promise you that I'd be here every week, but I'll try my best."

"How about next week? Would you be here?" I asked him.

Drystan swallowed hard. "I'm sorry, I can't. I need to go to the Silvermoon Pack. It's It's the first birthday of Killian's son. You know I need to come as the Shadowfang Pack's representative. If Theron didn't ask me to come, I wouldn't go there."

I nodded at Drystan's words as I remained cool. "What is his son's name again?" I asked as I drank my water.

"It's Ryker... Ryker Sullivan," Drystan answered obediently.

"If my son didn't die, we would also be celebrating his first birthday now," I spoke coldly as I tried my best not to let tears well in my eyes.

Even though it's been a year, it still hurts whenever I remember the son that I lost and whenever I hear how Killian and Giselle are having fun with their son after they killed mine.

"Astrid, is there anything I can do? I can make a trouble in their Pack if you want," Drystan offered.

"No need," I answered as I wiped away the tears that blurred my vision. "Let them enjoy for a little while."

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, and a son foka son. I'll let them have their son for a little while, and I'm going to have my revenge at a time that will hurt them the most, and I'll be sure I won't make any mistake just like how Giselle stupidly did.
