Chapter 165: Great News or Fake News?
Drsystan's POV
Asha's eyes turned wide when she saw my face. She was clearly surprised to see me, not expecting that I would suddenly turn up behind her back.
"What took you so long to get here?" Asha asked as soon as she recognized my face. "I thought you wouldn't be coming. I thought you didn't care about Astrid as much as you did before now that she had finally served her purpose," she commented disdainfully, trying to get on my nerves.
Nova has been regularly updating me with their life in the Shadowfang Pack. Even though I was away, I still knew what was happening to them.
Nova had once informed me that Asha had provoked Astrid into a fight before. Asha thinks that our purpose of coming here was to gain connections with her father and use their Pack to stabilize our failing Pack.
Since the words she threw at me weren't new anymore, I let it slide out of my mind.
"What?" Asha snapped at her brother angrily when he suddenly discreetly held her back by the arm.
"Is there anything wrong with Astrid, doctor?" I spoke up, changing the tides of our conversation.
I came here to check on Astrid, not to pick out a fight with them.
"Alpha Drystan." The Doctor bowed his head first as he acknowledged my status.
"I was just here to explain that I made a mistake-"
"What mistake?!" I instantly snapped, my fists clenched by my sides.
I wasn't able to hold back my anger the moment I heard the word 'mistake.' If this is anything serious, I swear, I will not let this stupid Doctor get off the hook.
"It was about Astrid's wolf. I made a mistake by saying that Astrid's wolf was dead," The Doctor explained eagerly when he saw my anger.
"Do you mean... do you mean to say that Astrid's wolf is alive?" I asked with a look of disbelief on my face.
At the same time that I received the news that Astrid's life was in danger, I also received the news that her wolf had already died, unable to survive any longer.
I was so devastated when I heard the news, and I was more afraid of what would happen to Astrid if she had learned about it.
She had lost everything that she had. I was afraid that she would lose the will to live because of this.
To hear that Astrid's wolf is still alive sparked the hope that I had already lost within me. It would be great if Astrid's wolf still managed to hold on.
"Yes, Alpha!" The Doctor nods his head enthusiastically. "Astrid's wolf is still alive. made a mistake. At that timez Astrid had lost a huge amount of blood, so her pulse was naturally weak. It made it difficult for me to sense Astrid's wolf; this made me think that her wolf was dead."
"Doctor Smith, how could you make such an obvious mistake? You are one of the best doctors in our Pack you are only second to me, so how could you mistake that Astrid's wolf is dead?" Asha retorted, not buying the Doctor's words.
"It's because of my negligence." Doctor Smith suddenly bowed his head for forgiveness. I want to apologize for the worry I had caused all of you because of my mistake. I promise I will be better in my job next time." "Next time?" Asha scoffed at his words. "With your negligence, you would be very lucky if you didn't mistake a living person for a dead body next time.
Doctor Smith's cheeks turned red when he heard Asha's comments; however, he was unable to say anything. As a renowned doctor, this must be the first time that someone insulted his abilities.
It's too bad Asha is way better than her, so he couldn't afford to insult her back.
"This is a great news!" I exclaimed, making everyone turn their attention to me. "This means that there's nothing else wrong with Astrid, right?" I asked, just to make sure that I understood him right.
"Of course, Alpha. Astrid is showing good signs of recovery. She will recover soon, and everything will be alright," I nodded my head when I heard his response.
Asha stared at Doctor Smith suspiciously, not buying his words. She must be upset that Astrid wasn't permanently harmed. I know that I shouldn't just mind her.
"So Doctor, the wolf that appeared earlier, you were saying that is Astrid's wolf?" Andros asked as if something didn't click right in his mind.Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
"Yes, that's right. There is no other reason behind this except the fact that I made a mistake," the Doctor answered, trying to convince us with his words.
"Shouldn't you be happy that your
sister is all right? I know she's just your half-sister, but she had never done anything wrong to any of you for her to deserve people wishing her wrong," I spoke up to defend Astrid.
I'm already getting offended by the repeated questions they are shooting the Doctor. It's already getting obvious that they weren't happy with the results
Asha gritted her teeth as she glared at me. "I'm just more concerned about Astrid than you actually do," she shot back.
My brows furrowed at her reply. It's clear that they were asking questions because they were unhappy with the results. I was confused by her words
