Reclaiming My Broken Luna

Chapter 139: Moved On

Killian's POV

It has been a long day for everybody. We have just arrived at the Emberwood Pack after our long travel, and we are still trying to adjust to the work around this place.

We weren't able to help the Shadowfang Pack much because we had to settle everything. We had to settle our provisions and also build our camps.

The night has long fallen, but not all camps have been built yet. As the Alpha, they had prioritized my camp first so I could have my temporary settlement and also so that I could have a good night's sleep.

However, I couldn't sleep. My conversation with Astrid continued to trouble me. So, I sat on my makeshift desk and started to write so I could do something productive while Astrid kept me awake.

In the middle of the night, only the sound of my pen scratching on paper could be heard while an omega shuffled around me, fixing my things and organizing them around the camp since we had only just arrived.

I sighed as I turned to another page of the paper.

"Alpha, you've been sighing all night. Is there something that has been troubling you?" the omega asked me in her soft feminine voice, making me turn to look at her.

I hadn't realized that I'd been sighing that much. I set down my pen when I realized that I had just been fooling myself. Looking down at my writing, I think I will have to redo all of this again tomorrow because I wasn't making much sense. Finally, I surrendered to my thoughts and straightened my steely gaze ahead of me.

"Anya, do you think the rumors were true?" I asked her without giving her a glance.

Her brows pressed together when she heard my question. "I knew you were thinking about Miss Astrid again," she replied with disappointment in her voice.

I turned to face her with my brows furrowed, and she instantly lowered her head when she met my gaze. This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .

I sighed and turned my head back again, choosing not to get angry for her unwarranted comment.

Anya is the only woman that I brought to the team with me. Anya is an omega and is back in our pack; she used to clean my room and my office regularly. Although it was just a simple job, Anya is good at it. Not only does she clean my room regularly, but she always ensures that I'm comfortable inside it.

She didn't realize it, but I noticed how she always used cedarwood to make my room smell good.

Not only does cedarwood give a pleasing aroma in my room, but I also heard it is good for health and helps relax the mind.

Because she doesn't just do her job, but she also cares about me, I have always kept her by my side to assist me.

After serving me for a long time, Anya could always read my mind and see through my stoic expression.

She knows it when I'm troubled, and at times, she would give me freshly brewed tea to calm my mind without being asked.

She always seeks to improve in her job, that's why I made her my personal assistant.

"Alpha, to answer your question, I think the rumors are true. Why else would Miss Astrid manage the relief efforts of the Shadowfang Pack?" Anya answered straightforwardly. ""Ridiculous!" I blurted out loud when I heard her answer.

She flinched back and lowered her head when she saw my violent reaction. "Astrid would never have a relationship with a man, especially with a person twice her age," I answered back softly this time.

Ever since her affair with Drystan was disproved, I knew she would never have an affair with anyone else.

"Why wouldn't she?" Anya asked me

back, but I'm still not dropping it. "It's clear that Miss Astrid has moved on е already. She even rejected you already, and you have also accepted her rejection, which means you two are no longer mates. Why wouldn't she date another man?"

Anya asked

me back.

"It's because she's not that type of person. I have misunderstood her before. I won't make the same mistake again," I replied defiantly.

Anya sighed. She could only purse her lips in silence because of my stubbornness.

Earlier, I was planning to clarify to her if the rumors were true. However, I was unable to ask her all of my questions because I was so devastated to hear that our son had died.

Astrid has no idea that just like her, I also lost everything. Giselle's child will not be mine if Astrid's child is mine because I only slept one time with one woman, so I could only have one son.

When she said that she would be cutting all her ties to me, I couldn't speak. In my heart, I wanted to hold her back. I did not want her to leave; I didn't want us to become like strangers, but I felt so bad.

I felt so guilty. Losing our child was my fault. Astrid will never forgive me for the death of her child.

I could only watch her leave. I've made so many mistakes already. I don't even know where to start.

Besides, I'm still engaged with Giselle. I have no right to hold her back.

Anya is right. Astrid has moved on already. I'm the only one holding back to the past.

We have severed our bonds already. There's nothing left for me to chase after.
