“What nonsense are you talking about? She’s my daughter!” Cade said, somewhat exasperated.

“She’s just your adopted daughter, not your biological one. Nydia and I are around the same age,” Taylor laughed, then leaned in and hugged him softly. “Why don’t you sleep over at my place tonight? I bought a really nice outfit to show you later.”

Despite his age, Cade couldn’t resist Taylor’s charm as long as she didn’t go too far.

Mainly because he thought if Taylor could give him a son, his family business would have someone to inherit it. The Malone family line would never be broken.

“Try not to provoke Nydia anymore in the future. I don’t want our secret exposed so soon; it could cause trouble,” he warned her.

“I understand,” Taylor replied with some displeasure but didn’t say anything else. She thought it would be better to get pregnant as soon as possible so that she had leverage and wouldn’t have to worry about anything else.

At this point, the live broadcast was ending; Nydia and Linda said goodbye together before signing off.

Nydia checked the backstage data and was surprised by what she saw.

“Are you kidding me? You’re amazing at promoting products! Mr. Pascall shouldn’t have put you in Malone Group; if it were me, I’d definitely put you in my own company instead of using any spokespersons.” Linda wasn’t surprised since she knew how good Nydia was at promoting products herself.

“I really didn’t expect things to go so well! I regret not negotiating for a share now.”

“Don’t worry about it; when spring comes around again, we’ll negotiate for a share then.” Linda started calculating her commission already. “I think this time my commission will be quite substantial – wait until you see what gift I’ll give you!”

Nydia stretched lazily before saying: “I’m tired too – let’s pack up and head back.”

“You can go first – there’s no need for our heroines like yourself do any dirty work or heavy lifting.” Linda smiled wryly while offering help with packing up their equipment

“I find your personality quite interesting,” Nydia initially had an indifferent impression of Linda since they were just colleagues but now found her friendship intriguing..

Linda chuckled: “Interesting? Isn’t that just another way of saying ‘flattering’?”

“What good does flattering do me?” Nydia asked rhetorically: “If Jesse divorces me or if The Malone Villa kicks us out again – then everything will be lost.”

“Oh well… then let me consider carefully,” Linda nodded solemnly before continuing jokingly: “When that happens we can become internet celebrities together- we’ll make tons of money!”

Both women burst into laughter after hearing each other’s words.. Nydia knew that this woman was just teasing her.

Now she had more friends around her, making her feel like she had truly started over and didn’t have to worry about waking up one day back in that cave where nothing worked and enduring the pain of burned hands and a face full of bloodstains.

Thanks to Nydia’s successful live broadcast, which had astonishing sales figures, she went directly to Cade and demanded a meeting.

Cade was also happy. She made so much money for him in just one night. Nydia was indeed a cash cow. He even thought that Nydia was more useful than his own daughter Willette.

Lately, Willette, Barclay, and Jasper have been bothering him endlessly, making him feel annoyed.

“I think everyone has seen it. I made up for the losses and even earned money back from yesterday’s live broadcast. Although it might be too early to say this today after yesterday’s event, I believe there won’t be any problems with returns or anything else. So I consider our agreement fulfilled.”

Nydia looked at several shareholders and high-level executives of Malone Group with a smile on her lips mixed with confidence tinged with some arrogance.

“Nydia is right; she fulfilled our agreement,” Cade said as he opened his mouth while the others remained silent since they were all happy when someone brought profits into their company.

“Young people nowadays are amazing! They can rely on just one live broadcast to get so many sales figures! We’re getting old!” Some old-fashioned people still couldn’t understand what live broadcasting meant but seeing how well Nydia did it now admitted her ability.

“Before this event happened yesterday if I couldn’t fulfill my promise then I would resign.”

“Yes but you did fulfill your promise now so naturally you don’t need to resign; we plan on promoting you!”

Nydia is only currently working as a designer but Cade plans on promoting her as Vice President which means she got promoted very quickly since joining Malone Group less than half a year ago.

“Thank you for the company’s cultivation and encouragement during these past six months,” Nydia bowed slightly before continuing “However considering my personal issues I’ve decided to resign.”

Everyone froze upon hearing those words: Resign?

“Why would you quit when everything is going well?” Cade asked incredulously.

This cash cow wants out? No way!

“I always end up trending negatively on Twitter every time something happens; I don’t want my actions affecting the company anymore.”

“But we already solved those problems didn’t we? It hasn’t affected us,” Cade said anxiously.”This time it’s settled, but what about next time? I can’t keep losing money every time. I’m tired of this. Working just isn’t for me. I should go back to being a rich housewife.”

Everyone: “… What do we even say to that?”

“Nydia, women need their own careers or else it’s hard to stand on your own two feet at home.”

“Careers are too difficult. I’m tired, Chairman Malone. I’ve already made up my mind and will submit my resignation later. Sorry for the trouble.” She left without another word, leaving everyone confused.

This meeting was really full of surprises.

Cade quickly went out and called Nydia into his office.

“Nydia, is Jesse giving you a hard time? Not letting you continue working here?”

“Uncle Malone, I know you mean well but… nevermind. I don’t want to work here anymore and have caused trouble for you.”

“Do you want me to talk with Jesse?”

“It’s too much trouble and he won’t listen anyway,” Nydia replied.

Cade realized that was true; Jesse was too ruthless and would demand everything from her if he found out she wanted to leave.

Last night’s live broadcast had given him a taste of success; he didn’t want Nydia leaving now that they were making money together.

“How about this: think about it first. It’s almost Christmas anyway so make your decision after the new year.”

Nydia thought about it before agreeing.

After leaving Cade’s office, her face turned cold as she knew Cade just wanted to exploit her.

When she got back home, she printed out her resignation letter immediately.

“Nydia! You’re quitting?” Maddie exclaimed in surprise.

“Yeah… I’m tired and need some rest.”

Nydia quickly packed her things and rushed back home.

As soon as she arrived, she saw Idris and Billy wailing and howling like ghosts.
