Chapter 401 How about taking Barclay offline?
Nydia winced and freed her hair from Jesse’s grip.
“Why did you mess with my hair just because Barclay went offline?” she snapped.
“So, you don’t mind then?”
“I don’t mind,” she replied flatly, surprising Jesse.
He remembered how Nydia used to praise Barclay and belittle him. “I remember you saying that every strand of Barclay’s hair was better than mine,” he said with a half-smile as he continued playing with her hair.
Nydia felt helpless as Jesse brought up old wounds. She had only praised Barclay before to provoke Jesse into divorcing her. He had been angry but refused to leave her in the end.
“Did I really say that?” she pretended not to remember.
Jesse nodded, not giving her a chance to play dumb. “I guess it was because his hair was better maintained than yours back then. But now I hope he goes bald.”
Nydia remained silent at his unexpected comment. She didn’t expect herself to be able to lie so calmly like this – pretending everything was fine when it wasn’t.
“How are you going to make him go offline?” Nydia asked before quickly adding, “Don’t tell me; I don’t want to know.”
She didn’t want him suspecting anything again later on – ignorance is bliss after all.
Jesse had trust issues that ran deep.
“Let’s go sleep,” he said instead of answering her question about getting rid of Barclay online.
Nydia truly didn’t care about whether or not they got rid of Barclay since she believed Cade might have something more significant related in their parents’ accident rather than the involvement of Barcaly himself based on Malone family’s attitude towards them.
Jesse watched Nydia close her eyes and thought about how best they could get rid of Barcaly online even though he already had an idea in mind earlier but changed his plan now since he wanted Barcaly’s experience unforgettable this time around.
Their trip this time around has been hectic for them all; Nydia still hoped they could return home early enough for lunch since dinner would be impossible due their evening banquet attendance later tonight.
Molly and Tavish yawned simultaneously; yesterday’s visit at the film city tired them out too much so they slept through most part today while traveling on roadways until now
“Mr. Pascall, Mrs. Pascall made headlines today,” Vergil whispered beside Jesse. He showed Jesse his phone with the news headline: “Wealthy wife denies her poor relatives, even wants to run them over with a car!”
This headline was quite sensational and would make anyone want to click on it.
Clicking on it revealed a photo of Alex lying on the ground, covered in blood and looking like he was barely alive. Nydia’s car was parked next to him.
The title and photo alone were enough to convey the story, so there were only a few words below.
“Mr. Pascall, do we need to take care of this?”
Jesse woke up Nydia so she could see it.
“You’re in the news again.”
Nydia looked at Jesse with sleepy eyes that made him feel something inside. He reached out and rubbed her head.
“Alex is making false claims about you hitting your own grandfather with your car.”
“Damn! What kind of unethical media is this?” She was angry!
“Acoustic Pictures.”
Nydia was surprised that Jesse knew which media outlet it was without hesitation. She had only been complaining earlier.
“This media outlet often reports whatever gets clicks regardless of whether or not they are true,” explained Jesse.
“Why does such unethical media still exist?”
“Because someone contributes clicks.”
“I bet I’m trending on Twitter again,” she said confidently. Something as big as this would definitely be trending on Twitter.
“You think I have what it takes for show business? Otherwise, why don’t I join the entertainment industry?”
Jesse frowned slightly at her suggestion. “You dare?!”
“How long can you control me for?” She just said that without really wanting to join show business anyway.
But Jesse took her seriously.
“If you dare enter show business, I’ll break your legs!”
“… Okay then, forget about joining.”
She saw how serious he looked and decided not to push any further.
“I’ll see how people are criticizing me online.”
She opened her phone and saw that she had already become third most popular trend on Twitter – but she felt nothing inside anymore; she had become numb from all these negative comments directed towards her.
[Nydia’s back trending again? Did Jesse buy out Twitter?]
She laughed when seeing one comment in particular before showing it off by tapping Jesse’s arm: “Look! They say you bought out Twitter.”
“Do you want me too?”
“Huh?! Big brother don’t scare me like that…”
She continued reading through more comments from netizens online.【Nydia is always trending on Twitter, maybe she should just become a celebrity already. I can keep admiring her beauty in this era of perfection!】
Responses:
– When I read the first half, I was ready to grab my pitchfork. But then… friendly fire!
– There are still plenty of people criticizing Nydia though.
?Do you people with no morals have any boundaries? Nydia hit and killed an elderly person, who happened to be her own grandfather. Where is your conscience? Are you even human?】
?I’m truly amazed that some people are praising her for killing someone just so she wouldn’t acknowledge a poor relative. It’s infuriating!】
?Who’s the one not using their brain when they accuse someone of killing an old man without thinking it could be staged? They’re spreading rumors like it doesn’t cost them anything!】
Because there have been so many twists and turns surrounding Nydia’s situation, many netizens feel that they shouldn’t jump to conclusions and should wait for more information before making judgments or risk being proven wrong.
However, some netizens believe that even if the elderly man was trying to scam her, he wouldn’t end up covered in blood like that – it must’ve been a direct hit.
In any case, netizens are arguing fiercely about this issue; opinions aren’t one-sided which makes Nydia somewhat relieved.
“I’m always trending on Twitter now; everyone’s waiting for something new.”
“It seems like there might be someone behind Idris’ family pushing things along since news spread so quickly.”
“They came over here with photographers earlier; they probably planned everything out from the beginning hoping to force me into submission through public opinion.”
“I’ll investigate and find out who’s behind all this.” To see what kind of mischief is going on behind the scenes.
After arriving home, Nydia briefly tidies up before heading off to a restaurant while Jesse takes care of his own business at home. Meanwhile Molly and Tavish sort through photos together in their house.
“Mummy and Daddy look really pretty/handsome… and big brother too!” Molly happily looks through all these photos Vergil had developed from his camera roll which now pile up high in front of them both.
“Molly looks prettiest!” Tavish laughs as he says “Let’s put these pictures up around our room”. The two children stick pictures onto their bedside tables: individual shots as well as group ones. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Uncle Jeff,” Tavish hands two photos over asking him “Can you ask Uncle Vergil for these two pictures please?” He continues “Once you get them back can we frame them nicely then put them inside Mummy & Daddy’s bedroom?””Okay, Tavish,” Jeff said as he looked at the photo with satisfaction. “Mr. Pascall and Mrs. Pascall are a perfect match.”
The number of photos taken in the past five years combined didn’t even come close to today’s amount.
Nydia and Jesse were unaware of Tavish’s actions as they headed home to shower after handling business at the restaurant.
“What’s the occasion for tonight’s banquet? Are there a lot of people coming?” Nydia asked while changing clothes.
Jesse glanced at her and immediately stepped forward. “Don’t wear that,” he said, referring to her outfit being too sexy.
“These dresses were all chosen by you, why did you buy them in the first place?” She laughed while looking at him. “Then pick one for me that is both beautiful and not too sexy.”
She leaned closer to him, tiptoed, and whispered in his ear, “I seem to be sexy no matter what I wear. What do you think?”
