For Barclay, 30 million was like a lifeline. When he tried to get a loan from the bank, they refused due to the negative news surrounding him. His previous friends were unwilling to lend him money. He even asked Willette and Cade to help, but Cade mentioned that the Malone Group suffered significant losses during the previous rainstorm and did not have enough liquidity.

Nydia could have been their best bet to get the money, but with Jesse behind her, they had no choice but to go through him.

“What are the conditions?” Barclay asked, thinking that they could deal with the problem first and worry about the consequences later.

“Mortgage your company to me,” Jesse said.
