Jesse was taken aback. Why was Nydia crying?

“What’s wrong?” His voice softened involuntarily as he reached out and stroked her long hair.

“I had a nightmare.” Her voice was choked with tears.

She hugged him tightly. “Jesse, please don’t get into any trouble!” Whether it was in her dreams or in reality.

“If you stop causing trouble for me, then I won’t get into any trouble.” Jesse replied, but his hands still held her, and he kissed her on the head. “It’s okay, it was just a nightmare. Molly and Tavish are waiting for us outside.”

Nydia let go of him, still looking teary-eyed.

He reached up and wiped away her tears with his fingertips. “Do you want to go see the kids like this?”

She hadn’t even spoken yet when she heard Jesse grumble, “Do you want me to get scolded by Molly again?”

She couldn’t help but laugh, her frustration swept away.
