Reborn Before The Divorce

Chapter 126

Nydia was taken aback by Jesse’s words. She realized that her behavior was somewhat reckless. After all, from past experience, she would never trust him, so why did she give him these things right away? It was really not well thought out. Meanwhile, Jesse thought that Nydia was beginning to doubt him.

“Do you have a share in this?” Nydia retorted. She knew very well that Jesse had no share in this matter, otherwise, he would not have protected her until death.

Jesse pushed the things on the table away. “You can still back out now,” he said.

Nydia chuckled lightly. “Wow, even the villain has a professional ethic?”

This taunt made Jesse a bit annoyed. Nowadays, he couldn’t guess Nydia’s reactions at all.

“Jesse, I trust you.” Nydia pushed the things in his direction again.

This simple sentence was like six bricks stacked heavily on his heart, rough bricks that caused a frictional feeling, and made him feel an indescribable emotion, trying to move this weight but not wanting to let go of it, making it difficult for him to breathe.Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

She looked at him with clear, bright eyes. There was no teasing or hesitation in her eyes, only firmness and trust.

Jesse withdrew his gaze and took out the ledger from the box, brows furrowed as he read through it. “What’s wrong?” Nydia asked worriedly.

“The Wintopia Group had severe losses, which means that there were problems at the top level. This ledger is crucial,” Jesse said.

“Even if your father had an accident, the company would not have gone bankrupt so quickly. But one month after your father’s accident, the company declared bankruptcy, as if it had already been prepared.”

Nydia actually knew very little about her father’s company, Neil Wagner. After all, she was only fifteen at the time.

“So, my parents’ death was not an accident?” Nydia asked.

“It’s hard to say at the moment. We need to investigate,” Jesse replied.

“If you have any thoughts on these things, or if you discover anything, please let me know. I don’t understand much about business,” Nydia said.

Nydia was aware of her limitations. She had no connections at the moment and could not rely solely on herself. Jesse was a trustworthy person, so there was no problem handing these things over to him.

“Also, I went to Cade’s study today, but time was tight, and I didn’t find anything useful. I suspect that he is not a good person,” Nydia added.

Jesse’s face remained calm, but he was surprised. In fact, he had investigated the death of Neil and his wife. The Malones had something to do with it. When Nydia trusted the Malones so much in the past, he didn’t say anything. Now that Nydia herself had doubts about the Malones, he was surprised.

“Why do you suspect the Malones?” he asked.

Nydia’s heart skipped a beat. She organized her thoughts and looked up at Jesse’s scrutinizing gaze.

“The Malones were friendly with my family. We had a relationship since I was young. Based on what my dad left behind, if Cade really had a good relationship with him, he shouldn’t know nothing. And as you said, Wintopia Group went bankrupt in such a short time, but he didn’t help at all, he just adopted me.”

“They always asked about compensation before, warning me to be cautious of you and not let you take my money.”

Jesse couldn’t help but snort. No wonder Nydia held onto her money so tightly before, she would bristle like a hedgehog if he even asked about it.

“So the best way to protect your money is to spend it on the Malones?” His lips curled into a sarcastic and icy smile.

Nydia was taken aback by his words and couldn’t refute them.

She used to be so foolish that she couldn’t even bear to look at herself.

“I plan to use the money to open a restaurant now.” She smiled and didn’t mind Jesse’s mockery.

This man loved to say one thing and mean another, to mock and use sarcasm to cover up the fact that he cared about her.

“Suit yourself.” He seemed indifferent to the matter.

Nydia thought that he would notice her determination when she achieved success.

But she could feel his attitude change when she handed over these important things to him.

“It’s late, I won’t bother you anymore. Goodnight.”

Nydia left his study and went back to her room tactfully.

Jesse began to look through the things Neil had left behind. They were undoubtedly very useful to him. He had been wondering how Neil could have left nothing behind.
