President Williams Woos His Ex-wife Again

Chapter 30 Short of Money

Chapter 30 Short of Money

Beth grinned at Mark Cook constrainedly.

“What a coincidence to meet you here, uncle.” She said.

He looked her up and down, and finally returned the diamond ring to her Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

“Why do you want to sell your diamond ring? Are you short of money?”

“No, I don’t...” Beth denied immediately, for she didn’t want him to see her abjection and

embarrassment.

Mark figured out her situation quickly. He spoke to her softly,”If you need my help, just tell me.”

Beth knew that all the Cooks disliked Mark very much. They treated him just like a dog. But Beth was

really moved at that moment.

Mark had helped her many times, and he was much better than any members of his family.

“I am not short of money...Thank you.” She was not that close to him, and was ashamed to ask him for

money.

Now that Mark was here, it was impossible for her to sell her ring. She turned around and went out.

Mark followed her and grasped her wrist.

“Uncle, please let me go.” Beth struggled.

Mark smiled and let go of her hand. He gently said,”You said you want to thank me before. It is almost

noon now, and I haven’t had lunch yet.”

“Do you mind inviting your benefactor for lunch?” Mark put one hand in the his trousers pocket and

raised his eyebrow.

“Invite you for lunch?” Beth clenched her ring.

She had no reason to refuse him, since Mark had helped her several times.

So Beth agreed, and asked him,”What would you like to eat?”

She has only €25, so she hoped that Mark wouldn’t order too expensive dishes.

It was not that she was mean, but that she had to save money for her brother’s medical expenses.

Mark smiled, pointing to a milk tea shop outside.

“I'm not a picky eater.”

His eyes were gentle, as if there were bright stars in them.

His voice was hoarse. “If you want to thank me, please buy me a cup of milk tea.”

“I love cherry ones.”

She stunned, looking across the street with difficulty.

“Milk tea?”

“Cherry ones?”

There was a big smile swung on his face, brighter than the sun.

“Yeah.” He laughed.

Beth was a little bit lost, “I’ll go.”

She felt Mark more and more gentle now. He must have seen through her lack of money already.

That's why he only want a cup of milk tea.

But, uh, was there a cherry milk tea?

An idea occurred in her mind.

Did he like cherry, too?

Beth trotted across the street to buy milk tea, and Mark was waiting for her right beside the traffic light.

When Beth was buying, she couldn’t help but looked back frequently to see Mark, who was standing in

the crowd.

There he stood, with remarkable and superb temperament.

He was quite different from Aaron Williams. Though both of them were handsome, the latter was

unfriendly cold.

Mark was as warm as the sun in March, and it was hard to resist getting closer.

Beth finished buying a cup of milk tea, running back and handed it to Mark.

“There's no cherry one, and I've bought other flavor on my own.” She said embarrassedly, hanging her

eyes to herself.

She really hasn't heard of a cherry flavored milk tea.

Really not.

Mark did not blame her. He looked at her tenderly, “Well, since there is no then I will accept it.”

“By the way, it is almost noon now. Do you mind having lunch with me?”

Beth waved her hand and refused, “Thank you, uncle, but I’m afraid it is not good.”

Mark's eyebrow moved slightly. He said very clearly: “Don’t call me uncle, I'm as old as Aaron. I have

no status in my family, and I don’t deserve this salutation.”

When he said this, his brow was tinged with scorn.

Moments later, he added, “If you don't mind, we can be friends.”

Mark was still smiling, but Beth couldn’t see any trace of smile at the bottom of his eyes. There was

bitterness in his smile.

Between his eyebrows, that deep marrow cool also slowly came out, which made people shivered.

Beth has some empathy with him. She was in the same position as Mark when she came back to

Johnson’s house, in which she had to be very carefully.

At least Mrs. Johnson is her birth mother, but Mark...

He was just a bastard.

The Old Williams disliked him, let alone Aaron’s parents, who only regarded him as an opponent.

Beth understood that feeling of being alone too much.

Although she felt sympathetic to him, she could not make friends with him.

She was not silly. If she got close to Mark, Aaron would tear her apart.

Her eyes flickered. “Uncle is uncle.”

Mark’s expression became subtle at a time, and his smile also froze.

Beth said to him: “Then, let me invite my uncle for lunch.”

They couldn’t be friends, but she could have lunch with him.

Mark didn’t get annoyed, gently hooking his lips, “OK.”

Mark selected a Chinese restaurant with simple decoration for lunch.

Beth loved the food in this restaurant, and Mark should have chosen this one.

Beth was a little bit surprised. She looked up and happened to hit his eyesight again.

If she kept looking at him, his dark and deep eyes could sunk in her soul.

Beth couldn’t help but wonder, was he too gentle to lose his temper?

He didn’t get angry though Aaron said such outrageous things to him.

Mark led her to the private room expertly and handed her the menu.

“Help yourself.” He said.

Beth suddenly regretted.

At this time, Mark broke up the silence again. He said kindly, “If you really need money, I have a friend

here. He just need a supporting actress for his cast. Maybe you can solve your urgent need by doing

this job..”

When Beth heard that she could be a supporting actress, her eyes were filled with light, “supporting

actress? Is it true?”

Mark looked at her and said: “Yes, but you can just act a supporting actress, and there is very little play

for this character. How much money you need?”

“It's okay.” She wept with joy.

She never thought that she could be an actress again, so this was really a great news for her.

Beth was so excited, so she didn't find herself sitting so close to him.

At that time her brain was full of making money and acting.

She was so exciting that she even accidentally hit the teacup in front of him-

Hot tea spilled on the back of Mark's hand. She became anxious at the time.

“I’m sorry, uncle. Are you okay?”

She got up and hurriedly pulled the paper towel and took it to wipe his hand.

Because of the slight closeness of the distance, her long hair ran across his cheek, and his nose was

filled with a sweet smell.

Mark slightly stiffed.

Just at this time, the door of the private room was suddenly pushed away violently.

She looked at it suddenly, and her face immediately turned pale.
