PREGNANT BUT REJECTED AS A BILLIONAIRE WIFE

PHB 48

“Des, are you perfectly healthy?”

Veronicastared at Deasy in horror. As usual, after work, she had invited Deasy to hang out at the coffee shop.

After sitting for thirty minutes, Veronicanoticed that Deasy seemed odd. Her friend was smiling to herself as if she were crazy.

“What’s up, Ve? I’m perfectly fine.”

“Then why are you smiling so strangely? Did you forget to take your medication or something?”

“Do you think I’m crazy?”

Deasy sighed in annoyance. Her friend seemed to think she was crazy and mentally unstable. Furthermore, why was Veronicasuch a nosy friend? Everything that happened to Deasy was always commented on. Couldn’t she just refrain from commenting, let alone getting involved so much? It was starting to irritate Deasy.

“You don’t usually smile like that for no reason. It’s making me curious. Besides, are you happy about something?”

“Guess, then…” Deasy replied casually, laughing. “Do you think I’m happy or sad?”

“Well, if you’re laughing, you must be happy.”

“There you go. So, why are you bothering me? In the past, when I was frowning, you thought I was frustrated and about to commit suicide. Now, when I’m smiling and happy, you think I’m crazy. My feelings are always misunderstood, it’s so frustrating!”

Veronicalaughed at Deasy’s rant. She had just expressed her serious confusion at seeing something strange and unusual in her friend, and it turned into a humorous conversation.

“But… seriously, Des. Are you really okay?”

“I’m perfectly fine, Veronica,” Deasy quickly replied.

“Your pregnancy, how is it?”

“It’s healthy.”

“Your job?”

“No issues.”

“Your relationship with Lucas?”

“It’s getting closer.”

Deasy immediately covered her mouth quickly. She regretted why she had blurted that out. Of course, her quick response raised big question marks in Veronica’s mind.

Don’t even ask about Veronica’s facial expression right now. It couldn’t be described in words.

“What did you just say?”

“What? What did I say?”

“Come on, Deasy,” Veronicaurged impatiently. “My ears are still working fine. I’m pretty sure I didn’t mishear. How… how is your relationship with Lucas? Getting closer? What?! You’re not kidding, are you?”

Veronicawas excited, which made Deasy sigh in annoyance because she was confused about how to explain this. It could be guessed that after she told the whole story, Veronicawould never stop teasing her and might say all sorts of things.

“Come on, spill it. How are you and Lucas? Getting closer? Or could it be that you’re getting more intimate after living under the same roof?”

Deasy widened her eyes. She was extremely embarrassed by what Veronicahad just said.

“Ve, what are you saying? Why not use the mosque loudspeaker while you’re at it? So that everyone can hear your gossip.”

“Hahaha…” Veronicaburst into laughter. Seeing Deasy pouting, she immediately covered her mouth. “I’m sorry, okay?”

Veronicathen moved her chair closer, narrowing the distance, and spoke in a half-whisper to Deasy.

“Come on, spill the beans. How are you and Lucas? Getting closer? I mean, have you two already…?”

“Yes,” Deasy cut her off. “Everything you’re thinking is correct. I’ve even slept with him again. Satisfied now?”

Veronicaburst into laughter again. It was so amusing to see Deasy’s irritated expression after answering her question.

“So, the one who said he wasn’t your ideal type is slowly falling for him now? And what’s next? Are you going to get married? Don’t tell me you plan to live together without intending to get married.”

“I know,” Deasy immediately replied. “I’m not a child, Ve. This is something I discussed with Lucas some time ago.”

Veronicawas taken aback. She became even more curious about what Deasy was going to tell her.

“What did you say to him?”

“I agree that he should take responsibility. But, before we move to a serious level, I want the two of us to explore for a month or two.”

“Oh…” Veronicaexclaimed loudly. “If you wait another two months, Des, your belly might get bigger. Aren’t you ashamed to draw so much attention?”

Veronicanaturally considered this aspect. She didn’t want Deasy to end up stressed because she became the subject of gossip when her pregnancy was more noticeable.

“I know, Ve. But I need more time for us to get to know each other better. I don’t want us to get married right away without truly understanding each other.”

“The key is being sure, Des. Whether you date or explore for years, it doesn’t guarantee a successful marriage. It all depends on the individuals involved. Besides, I see Lucas as a good guy with many qualities. I’m really sure he’ll make you happy in the future. Don’t make a big deal out of his appearance; it’s not a big deal. After all, he satisfies you, right?”

Deasy widened her eyes. Why was she discussing these bedroom matters?

“Ve… please!”

“Okay, fine. I admit it. If Lucas’s ‘service’ wasn’t satisfactory, you wouldn’t have slept with him for the third time. Wait, was it really three times? Or maybe more?”

“Veronica!”

Again, Veronicateased her. It felt good to see Deasy unable to respond.

“Like I said yesterday,” Darwin Walters’s wife continued, “Looks can be easily made over anytime, as long as there’s money. But if you look closely, Lucas isn’t as plain as you think.”

Deasy remained silent, digesting Veronica’s words. If she waited two more months, her belly would definitely be much more noticeable. Her weight had already increased significantly. If she didn’t hurry up and get married, people around her would realize she was pregnant.

“So, do you think I should just accept Lucas’s proposal to get married quickly?”

Veronicanodded. “If you’re sure, go for it. But before that, let me ask, are you comfortable with him? This is about your life partner. Marriage isn’t just about status.”

“Well, so far, I’m comfortable with Lucas’s behavior. I know I’ve misjudged Lucas all this time. It turns out he’s far beyond my expectations.”

Veronicasmiled, trying not to tease Deasy further.

“So, if you’re sure and feel comfortable, go for it. Especially since you’re not waiting for anything.”

“So, should I just marry Lucas?”Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

“Let’s get married! If you’re short on money, I’ll help you out,” Veronicasuggested.

Deasy immediately pinched Veronica, not believing what she just heard. Did Veronicathink she needed financial help?

After their conversation, Veronicaaccompanied Deasy back to her apartment. She left without making any further stops, confident that everything would be fine.

Once she entered her room, Deasy quickly cleaned up and changed her clothes. Just as she lay down, she received a message from Lucas.

Lucas: A precious gem in a barren land. Good evening, my love.

Deasy chuckled as she read Lucas’s short message and decided to respond in kind.

Deasy: A snack devoured by a shark. Darling, I miss you.

Deasy expected Lucas to send a text back, but to her surprise, he immediately initiated a video call.

“Good evening, beautiful. Are you already home?” Lucas asked.

“Yes, you saw for yourself that I’m in bed,” Deasy replied.

“Have you eaten? Taken your medicine? Your vitamins?”

“I have,” Deasy replied briefly, trying to maintain her image. In reality, she felt a burst of happiness for some reason, seeing Lucas lying in bed on the screen of her phone.

“How was your day? Everything okay while I was away? No unexpected events?”

Deasy nodded. Thankfully, the first day she was alone went smoothly, with no drama that made her emotional or overwhelmed.

“So far, so good,” she replied.

“That’s good to hear. And how’s our baby doing? Is he being fussy? Maybe he made you feel nauseous, dizzy, or anything like that when I’m not around.”

Deasy smiled. Lucas’s question made her chuckle. He was asking as though their baby had already been born and was acting like a mischievous child bothering his mother.

She was happy to hear it. Lucas had shown many unexpected sides of himself several times.

“Fortunately, he cooperated today. So, I’m fine,” Deasy replied.

“Thank goodness. Just be patient for now. I’ll be back the day after tomorrow, and I’ll go straight to your apartment. By the way, is there anything you’d like as a souvenir? I’ll bring it back for you.”

On the other side of the phone screen, Deasy shook her head. She didn’t want anything from Lucas right now.

“I don’t need a souvenir, Luc. I just want you to come back soon.”

“Aww, missing me so much, huh?”

“Yeah, something like that.”

“Why don’t you just say you miss me? Is it that hard? You’re acting so aloof.”

Lucas playfully pouted. His lips curled into a little frown after hearing Deasy’s response.

“You’re so cute, you know that?” Deasy teased.

Lucas burst into laughter on his end of the call. He was satisfied to hear Deasy admit that she missed him.

“Tonight, you’ll sleep alone. If you want to hug someone, hug a pillow. But when I come back, I’ll keep you company and give you a foot massage, just like usual.”

“I’m too lazy,” Deasy replied, shrugging. “Why hug a pillow? I’d rather hug you and roll around.”

Lucas burst into laughter again. Why was Deasy suddenly so playful? Throughout their conversation, she had responded to all of his jokes, turning it into a playful banter. Was this what it meant to meet your soulmate? He felt incredibly happy.

“Okay, Luc. I’m going to bed now. I’m tired from dealing with you,” Deasy complained. “You should get some rest too. Let’s continue our chat tomorrow if you’re not too busy.”

“Alright, my love. Goodnight. If you miss me, just dream about me. I will be happy.”
