SWEET
Nolan was on top of Layla as he rode her.
“Ah… f*ck! ” Layla moaned in ecstasy as they both came undone.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Planting a kiss on her lips, he muttered I love you to her, before pulling out of her, and then he laid beside her.
They were currently at her apartment.
” I missed this place a lot,” Layla confessed, placing her head on Nolan’s chest, as he shook his head slowly.
The place held a lot of memories, both good and bad.
Nolan wrapped his arm around Layla’s shoulders, pulling her close. He understood what she was feeling, the bittersweet nostalgia of returning to a place that had been both a sanctuary and a prison.
“It’s a lot to take in, isn’t it?” Nolan asked, his voice gentle.
” Yes, but I guess I’m good.. ” she smiled.
” I think we should visit here with our child when she’s grown… ” Layla suggested as she looked at his face.
” Sure..” Nolan shrugged his shoulders, not refusing her request.
“How was your childhood like Nolan’?” She asked, using her fingertips to draw an imaginary line in his cheat.
Then she felt him stiffen. As if he just remembered a bad memory. She shouldn’t have said that.
“I’m sorry if you.. ” she began to apologize, but Nolan cut her short.
” It’s nothing. It’s high time you knew about me” he reasoned. He had never told her anything about himself. Layla literally knew nothing about him, except for the fact that his first mate died.
“My childhood wasn’t what you would call ‘normal’,” Nolan began, his voice taking on a distant, faraway quality.
“My father was an Alpha, a powerful and respected man. But he was also cruel and abusive. He ruled his pack with an iron fist, and I was the one who bore the brunt of his anger and violence.”
Layla’s eyes widened in horror, her hand going to her mouth.
“Oh, Nolan. That’s awful. I had no idea.” Layla blurted out in surprise, who thought that he’d suffered abuse.
“Most people don’t,” he stated, his voice still distant.
“It’s not something I liked to talk about to anyone then ” he added and Layla muttered an oh.
” Ned was a mad king..” Nolan emphasized as he chuckled. His father lost his mind just when he was crowned king.
“He had always been a ruthless man, but when he became king, something changed in him,” Nolan explained.
“He became paranoid and erratic, ruling with fear and intimidation. He would have people executed on a whim, and his behavior became increasingly erratic and unpredictable.”
“And you were caught in the middle of all of that,” Layla said, her voice full of sympathy. “You must have been terrified.”
Nolan nodded, his eyes haunted by the memories. “I was. But it made me strong. It taught me to survive, no matter what.”
“It was hell for me, I had no friends until I met Keisha. She was my only friend then and the only one who knew about all these.. ” he confessed and Layla finally understood when Keisha said there were lots of things she didn’t know about him.
She wondered whether he must have gone through in the hands of his father, that was what must have made him so cold and cruel.
“And your mother?” Layla asked. She wondered where his mother was when all these happened.
“My mother,” Nolan began, his voice taking on a sad, wistful tone.
“She was a kind and gentle woman, the complete opposite of my father. She did her best to protect me from his wrath, but there was only so much she could do. She died when I was a child, and after that, I was at the mercy of my father’s rage.”
Layla’s heart broke for the young boy that Nolan had once been, the child who had suffered through so much.
“You must have been devastated when she died,” she said softly.
” I was and then the beast brought in another woman and I was left to face two devils. I was just fifteen then. She abused me both emotionally and sexually and that went on for three years” he revealed and Layla stilled in shock.
“What!!” She exclaimed in horror, that was the height of it all. She could never imagine what he must have gone through during his childhood.
“It was a nightmare,” Nolan said, his face calm like a tranquil. He didn’t look affected by it and he looked as if he had forgotten all about it
“I felt so alone, so trapped. I thought I would never escape, that I would spend my life in that dark place. But then something happened that changed everything.”
Layla’s heart pounded in her chest, as she waited for him to continue.
“What happened?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Nolan took a deep breath, gathering his courage.
“I met my first mate,” he said, a small smile playing on his lips.
“She was like a ray of sunshine, a light in the darkness but it never lasted and the war came. It was as a result of my father’s stupidity that we were in a war. Many lives were lost. Including his. I was so glad when I saw him die on the battlefield. ” Nolan laughed dryly. He was devoid of any emotions then. The man who made his life a nightmare was gone. He couldn’t be happier.
“Nevaeh my stepmother died too. It was my best day, till Vera’s body was brought to me” he paused as he looked at Layla.
“It’s okay..” she muttered assuringly as she caressed his face.
She felt so bad for him, from being abused by your father, literally raped by your stepmother, and then losing the one who made you feel whole again, that was too much.
Nolan closed his eyes, savoring the feeling of Layla’s hand on his face. It was a small comfort, but it meant the world to him.
“Thank you,” he whispered, opening his eyes and looking into hers. “I’m sorry for dumping all of this on you, it’s a lot.”
“It’s okay,” Layla said, her voice full of compassion.
“I’m here for you if you want to talk about it. Or if you just need someone to be here with you.”
” The truth is that I never wanted a child. I was scared of what the outcome would be.. ” he began.
Hearing that Nolan was scared was a new thing to Layla. He definitely knew how to mask his emotions well enough.
“What if I turn out to be a bad father, or even worse… ” he chuckled dryly. The fact that he’d treated Layla so badly made him no different from his father.
“Come on Nolan, I’m sure you will be the best dad ever..” Layla assured.
“But what if I’m not?” Nolan asked, his voice tinged with worry.
Layla reached out, taking his hand in hers. “You are nothing like your father,” she said, her eyes shining with sincerity.
“You are a kind and compassionate man, and you will be a wonderful father. I know it.”
Nolan looked at Layla with intense emotions in his eyes, she was a rare gem. His comforter.
” Come here, I know what will make you feel better… ” Layla laughed naughtily climbing on top of him.
” Stay still, I’ll take care of everything.. ” she smiled and leaned over to kiss him.
