Chapter 65
Chapter 65 The First Time
Emily furrowed her brow and whispered, "I... I don't know. The doctor said..."
"This young lady is indeed pregnant! Absolutely!" The doctor in charge of drawing blood stepped out, pointing to the test report in her hand. "Look here, this HCG index is a clear indication of pregnancy. There's no mistake." "W... What?"
"HCG, human chorionic gonadotropin. Your HCG level is over twenty, indicating you're about five to seven weeks pregnant. We need further examination to confirm the details."
Five to seven weeks?
She had only known Mr. Satan for a little over a month, maybe less than two.
"Thank you, doctor. I'll take her for further examination."
The doctor nodded, somewhat surprised, and glanced at Mr. Satan. "Forgive me for asking, but is your face... I mean no offense, but our hospital has excellent dermatology and plastic surgery departments. If needed, you can consult them on the second floor." Mr. Satan paused.
He neither confirmed nor denied, just smiled faintly, maintaining his gentlemanly demeanor. "Alright, thank you."
Emily looked up at him, and Mr. Satan casually told her, "Don't look at me, watch your step."
The obstetrics and gynecology doctor had changed; it wasn't the same one who had treated her for fallopian tube blockage. This time, it was a female doctor in her thirties who appeared very professional.
"Emily Carter?"
"That's me," Emily nodded.
The female doctor glanced at her, didn't say much, and professionally explained the detailed examination results. "You're indeed pregnant, a little over five weeks. Your baby's condition is good, with all indicators normal. There's no need to worry." Emily was both happy and flustered.
In the four years of her desperate marriage, she had hoped for a miracle countless times. She wished Nathan would come home, and she would get pregnant. But every day's wait ended in failure.
This pregnancy came unexpectedly, without any psychological preparation. Emily found it hard to calm her emotions for a moment.
The doctor seemed to sense her unease and reassured her, "How old is your husband?"
"Huh?" Emily didn't expect the doctor to ask that and was a bit puzzled.
"Or does your husband have any medical conditions?"
Emily was bewildered.
The doctor shrugged, "Seeing your expression, I thought your husband might be older or have some illness, making it difficult for you to conceive, especially since you're still young." Emily sighed with relief, "He's probably a few years older than me, and he's very healthy."
"Very healthy?" The doctor's smile held a hint of meaning.
Emily blushed, feeling embarrassed. "He really wants children, but I've taken birth control pills. So, finding out about this pregnancy was quite unexpected..."
"Birth control pills?" The doctor's expression turned serious. "Have you taken any other medications or received any injections recently? It could pose a risk to the fetus. I need to understand everything before I can fully assess your health." Half an hour later, Emily walked out of the obstetrics and gynecology examination room.
Mr. Satan hurried up to her. "Emily, how did it go?"
Emily's expression was mixed. "...I need to tell you something. Please don't be upset."
"Didn't you not get pregnant? Was there a mistake in the examination? Or do you have a hormonal issue?" Mr. Satan gently embraced her, despite feeling a slight
disappointment. "It's okay, Emil
alright if you didn't get pregnant this time. We still have plenty of time
together. Don't worry a time
getting upset. I love children
me
because they're conceived by you, understand?"
Emily felt like crying and buried herself in his embrace. "Mr. Satan, can you make me a promise?" "Of course."
"It's... if you ever decide to go back to the woman you love in the future, could you leave this child to me?"
Mr. Satan rubbed her head. "What
are you thinking? You and the child must stay with me. I've said it before that you don't need to worry about the right, I'll past. When the time is tell you everything, and then you'll understand that your worries now are unnecessary, okay?"
"Well..." Emily didn't know what came over her, perhaps it was just realizing she was going to be a mother, or maybe it was instinctual to be vulnerable in front of him her throat seemed to be choked up, "That hairpin... do you still carry it with you?"
"I've put it away," Mr. Satan said. "I placed it in a small box in the study drawer, and it's locked. I'll give you the key. If you're still worried, you can check it every day, alright?"
Emily finally chuckled through her tears. "I don't want it anymore. You keep it, and it's your past. I have a past too. I'm a divorced woman, after all. I was just confused at the time. I shouldn't have been mad at you."
"You're talking nonsense again. You being mad shows you care about me, right?" Mr. Satan seemed unusually gentle and caring today, and he was more talkative.
Usually, when they were in the Hilton hotel room, it was either dining or making love.
He was tender and gentlemanly, except in bed.
This was the first time Emily heard him be so tender to her outside the room.
She lifted her head in his arms. "Mr. Satan, I want to tell you something."
"Alright, go ahead, I'm listening."
Emily smiled softly. "Congratulations, eight months from now, you're going to be a father."
Mr. Satan's eyes froze for a moment, then turned into ecstasy. "Really?"
"Yes," Emily leaned closer to him and whispered, "The doctor helped calculate the dates. It should be the first night we spent together at the hotel. That's when I got pregnant." The next second, she was lifted off her feet.
"Hey, what are you doing? This is still the hospital. Put me down!"NôvelDrama.Org owns all content.
"Emily," Mr. Satan held her, his tone slightly deeper. "You had your tests done before, and they said you had infertility issues. This is the same hospital where you got your results." Emily nodded. "...Yes, did you know?"
"I knew, I knew you were normal, not infertile, but I didn't expect you to get pregnant on the first try," Mr. Satan sighed. "With your fertility, it seems we'll have to have several more." Emily blushed. "I've only just conceived the first one."
His eyes sparkled beneath the white mask. "Once you have the first, the rest will follow in succession."
