The fire crackled and popped, people were laughing, all noises that were just static to his ears as he sat watching the dark forest beyond: Arianna sat beside him a few minutes ago. He knew that she wanted to talk to him, but he wasn’t ready just yet. She sat silently with him, waiting. He was grateful that she wasn’t pressing for conversation just now, that she would wait for him to talk when he was ready. Sebastion also knew that he couldn’t keep her out. They shared a bond like no other, their twin bond.

They had always spoken to each other through their minds before they could ever use that pack link at thirteen. When they were young, they didn’t know how to control it; they read each other’s thoughts unknowingly, caught the other’s emotions when they didn’t know how they did it. Sebastion stood after she left and mind linked Flint to meet him in the cellars. He would go down there alone until they both joined him. It was probably better that way. Gia would probably try her damn best to convince him to take her back. They were far past that now. He had seen her for all she was now, there was no way he would even consider letting her worm her way back in his life. “You are in no position at all to make demands of me or anyone here. You will be gone in the morning, I will tell Jace, one day about you, but don’t worry, I won’t tell him the truth. He ignored her words as he continued to walk out of the cellar. What she said reminded him that Rayne had chosen another man. Maybe he was weak. He hadn’t fought for her five years ago. He had followed Gia blindly like always. Well, time for that weakness was over. Once things settled down in Redwood, he was going back to claim his mate.

Rayne belonged to him.
