Chapter 700
Chapter 700
Jackson glanced sideways at Lucas.
Lucas, seemingly aware of this, shifted his gaze to meet Jackson’s eyes.
The two men’s eyes met in mid–air. There seemed to be a silent battle going on between them.
Suddenly, the corner of Jackson’s mouth curled into a smile. He reached out and wrapped his hand around Serenity’s
shoulders, leaned down to move his face close to hers, and softly repeated his previous question, “What did you say you would let her have?”
That stung Lucas.
Jackson… was doing it on purpose!
Was he deliberately acting intimate with Serenity to tell other people to stop having funny ideas about her?
It left a bitter taste in Lucas‘ mouth.
He could not believe that he would actually fancy another man’s fiancée.
He had never lacked for women. He had never bothered to hit on women who already had significant others.
All the women he had been involved with had done so willingly.
However… Serenity was an exception.
Was it because she looked too similar to the girl in his heart?
Serenity felt Jackson’s warmth wrap around herself.
He was so close that when she raised her eyes, she could clearly see his eyelashes. “This gown. My cousin already had her eye on it and came here today to try it on. It’s okay, she can have it. I’ll just choose another one.”
Serenity was already blushing. Jackson straightened up and said with a smile, “Whatever you say.”
Serenity walked up to Lynette and told her, “I’ll change out of the gown right away.”
Lynette could only grit her teeth silently. She got her gown, but she felt like she lost.
Ever since she was a child, she had always lived in Serenity’s shadow.
One day, she’ll make Serenity pick up the trash she discarded!
As she was thinking that, Serenity suddenly said very softly, “But did Lucas really tell ‘you‘ when he was a boy that he would buy you a purple dress one day?” She deliberately emphasized the word ‘you‘.
The moment Lynette heard that, a shiver ran down her spine, and she could feel the hair all over her body stand up.
A trace of panic flashed across her eyes, but she acted tough and said, “Of course.” However, her voice trembled slightly when she said that.
Serenity did not say anything else to Lynette. She turned to Jackson and asked, “Jack, can you come with me to pick another gown?”
“Sure,” Jackson answered affectionately and held Serenity’s hand.
Mr. Wallace quickly led the way. He seemed glad that he was still alive.
Lucas looked at Jackson’s and Serenity’s intertwined hands with a complicated expression. Earlier, when Serenity casually said she would let Lynette have the dress, he felt a pang of pain in his heart, as if she was casually giving him away too.
Giving him away?!
Why would he feel like that?! This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Their relationship wasn’t so close that he was hers to give away.
