Nine Months Too Late 23
sylvie woke up in an hospital room, Kage seated beside her bed.
She couldn't remember much. But she knew she'd passed out in the car, or partially passed out.
She could remember being held close by someone, by Kage? She remembered the words "you'll be fine Hell, no. There was no way that had been Kage.
You awake," he sighed, sitting up
Groaning, she sat up as well, her hand going over her head. She felt a lot better, but her head still ached.
"Yeah... she looked around. "You brought me here?"
"Well, do you think you're capable of driving yourself here after passing out in the car?" His grumpy response as always.
She exhaled deeply. "Well, thank you. and sorry for the stress I might've caused
There was a temporary silence. Then, he asked. "why didn't you tell me you were this sick? You could've taken a few days off
"Like you would've granted it." she scoffed.
"I may be many things, Sylvie, but I still have a five percent kindness in me. Besides, of what use will it be if you ended up dead before the project is completed!" Sylvie's hand went across her tummy, but she brought it down as quickly as she could.
"Did um...the doctor say what was wrong with me?" She nervously asked.
She knew it as possible the doctor had detected the pregnancy, but there was no way he could've told Kage about it, right?
"He did." He answered. "But he said he'd only tell you about it,"From NôvelDrama.Org.
Sylvie's heart skipped a beat. The doctor definitely knew. But she wasn't sure he'd told Kage yet
"Is there something I should know, Sylvie?" He asked.
Sylvie swallowed hard, her heart sinking into her stomach.
"Something like what?" She tried to hide her nervousness.
"I don't know, but you didn't have any complications from the miscarriage, did you?"
"Nope. There's nothing to worry about, she chomped down on her inner cheeks
Nodding his head. he reclined in his seat again.
An hour later, Sylvie was ready to be discharged. Ahe was surprised that Kage stuck around.
She was with the doctor in his office where he prescribed some drugs for her.
"Um Sylvie, are you aware that you're pregnant?" He asked the question she'd been anticipating
She released a shaky breath, glancing around the office. They were the only ones in it
YYes. I'm aware
The doctor looked inquisitively at her. She could tell he has some questions, but he didn't have the right to ask
"Okay, you need to get as much rest as possible and keep up with these drugs. You and your baby should be fine." he continued writing the prescription. "Thanks"
He finished and handed her the note,
"And um...one more thing, doctor; could you keep my condition private? I want to do things my way," she requested.
"Oh! Of course, Ms. Over here, we take confidentiality very seriously. You have nothing to fear.
Sylvie stood up. Thank you. I'll take my leave now."
"Alright, do take care of yourself.":
Kage to
Kage took her home. She had opposed the idea initially, wanting to take a cab, but he wouldn't let her.
In his grumpy words, "it's working hours. You're still under my care, for now,"
Not that he really did care. Kage cared for no one - Sylvie thought maliciously.
She gave directions him to her apartment to his driver, while she sat in the backseat with him. And after a while, they were in front of it. Kage had been operating his phone the entire time.
Her phone beeped while she was still in the car. She checked, thinking it was an important message. It turned out to be... what? "You sent me money?" She turned to him with surprise. "Obviously. You should pay for your drugs and get something to eat," he replied nonchalantly.
But it was five thousand dollars! Just for drugs!?
"You make it sound like I'm broke and starving. Kage," She scoffed.
"Well, have you seen the way you eat? You do eat like you're suffering
Goodness!
"Well, that's only because I'm very hungry. It doesn't mean I can't afford my own meal. You know me, Kage, I'm not broke."
"Gosh. Is there ever a time you stop talking, Sylvie Hawkins?" He grunted.
It took him some seconds to realize his mistake. Turning to her, he found her gaze on him.
"Price," he corrected, his voice lower than it had been. "Sylvie Price
Sylvie's eyes dropped from his face to the floor.
"Well... I don't really like to talk all the time, but how can I help it when you're my opponent?" She muttered.
"Thanks, though." She exited the car.

Lana walked into the sitting room, picking her nails.
Her mum and uncle were already present and waiting
"Hi, uncle," she plonked herself next to her mum.
"Lana. How're you doing?" The man replied.
"Oh, I'm great. Is everything cool at the hospital?" "Yeah, it sure is."
Lana noticed her mum wasn't looking happy.
"Um... Is there a problem?" She slid her gaze between her mum and uncle.
The uncle sat up. "Actually Sylvie was brought in by Kage to the hospital today. She clearly had no idea you and I are related
3:18 PM
Oooh. So, the bitch was sick. How did it matter?
"The thing is, I discovered she was pregnant." He released the bombshell.
For half a minute, Lana was stone cold. Then, she scoffed.
"I don't... I don't understand. How can she be pregnant? Or...did she become pregnant for someone else right after she discovered Kage?"
Her mum spoke up. "Lana, do you remember she'd left the country right before she divorced Kage! And according to you. she's only bask because of a project? It's very unlikely that she'd sleep around and get pregnant right after the divorce. What if she was pregnant for Kage and has been hiding it from him?" "What?" Lana sprang to her feet. "You trying to tell me that Sylvie is pregnant for my finance? For my Kage!!"
*She also wanted me to keep it a secret. The uncle chipped in. "I could see the fear in her eyes. She didn't want Kage to know
about it
"No!" Lana cried. "Mum, this cannot happen! She can't be pregnant for him, not when we're so close to being married! What if she decides to tell him about it!?"
"Well, we're going to make sure that never happens. It's a good thing fate had taken her to your uncle's hospital. We'll make sure that baby doesn't deserve to cause issues 1, Lana."
"I swear, I'll kill her. I'll kill her myself. She paced the room.
"You said she's working in Kage's company, right?" Her mum asked. "That's extremely risky. We must make sure she's far from him. We have to come up with a plan to get her away from that company.
"You should leave that to me." Lana gritted. "I'll handle it myself and ensure she's kicked out."
