Chapter 568
Chapter 568
"Linus told me himself that he doesn't feel that way about you. Gwennie, let him go."
Daniel's words almost caused Gwen to collapse to the ground.
Tears streamed down Gwen's face as she said, “Grandpa... Grandpa... Did he really say that?"
"Yes, Linus told me himself. There's something else I want to tell you."
"What is it?" Gwen's voice was hoarse."
"Linus said that... he won't even pretend."Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
There was a gentle sea breeze today. It brushed softly against Lucy's cheeks as she tucked her hair behind her ear.
She decided to take a walk to clear her mind because the stress of her job as a designer was overwhelming her, and she needed to relax.
To have more fun, she had initially planned for Matthew to accompany her, but he suddenly had a ton of workload in the past few days. He was unable to spare any time. However, he promised to make it up to her later.
Not wanting to disturb Matthew, Lucy tried to hit up Chelsea.
When she called, Chelsea was deeply engrossed in a romantic moment with Hugh, so she hung up right away. Lucy did not want to be the third wheel.
Next, Lucy tried reaching out to Theodore, Cillian, Yitty, and even Koven to join her by the seaside for a relaxing time. However, they all gave her the same response. They simply had no time.
Disheartened, Lucy ended up carrying her sketchpad to the beach alone.
Thankfully, the gentle sea breeze and waves helped calm her heart, temporarily easing her feelings of loneliness.
The weather and temperature at the beach today were perfect-neither too hot nor too humid.
Lucy wore a dress with her calves exposed. She walked barefoot along the edge of the beach, capturing the beautiful scenery in her mind.
She painted the space between sea and sky in shades of orange and red, with the occasional seagulls flying past.
Soon, it was already evening.
Everyone else had left a long time ago, leaving only a few people gathering shellfish by the shore.
Lucy had a habit of losing track of time while painting as she was fully immersed in her work.
She did not even snap out of her trance when someone called out to her from behind.
"Miss, the tide is coming in."
The man had a pleasant voice, but Lucy paid little attention. Only after he called out to her several times did she slowly turn around.
By then, the seawater had risen above her ankles.
Lucy finally snapped out of it and gathered her things.
The most precious of them all was her artwork, and she could not risk letting the waves wet it.
"Thank you, I didn't notice at all...”
Lucy packed up her belongings while glancing up at the darkening sky.
"It's already so late..."
Matthew should be home by now, right? She had promised Matthew that she would just go out for a relaxing walk and return home early, but at this hour, there were no more cars to take her back.
She did not want to bother Matthew want
to pick her up either, considering
how busy he had been with work
these days. It was over an hourmet
drive from their place, so it seemed like she would have to stay at a nearby hotel for the night.
Linus looked at Lucy. She was even fairer than in the photo, and he had a feeling he had seen her somewhere before, but he just could not pinpoint where or when.
Lucy had too many things to carry, so she was a bit clumsy.
Linus, being the gentleman he was, took her sketchpad. "Let me help."
Lucy did not want to trouble him, but seeing his sincerity, she reluctantly agreed.
