Vera’s face paled further. “That’s impossible. Skylar must have played dirty. Joe will eventually see through her. Besides, what does she even have to compete with me?”

Seeing Vera’s stubbornness, Justin said nothing else, realizing there was no point in arguing further. The Ruell family had raised her to be proud and headstrong, and she rarely listened to others.

From what Justin had observed at the restaurant, Skylar didn’t seem like the type to resort to

underhanded tactics. In terms of appearance alone, Skylar was more attractive and had a certain allure that made men want to know more about her.

Had Justin met Skylar elsewhere, he might have even asked for her phone number. On the other hand, Vera tended to make people feel distant.

Meanwhile, Natalie had just returned from the set to her hotel in Fachington. She headed straight for the shower as the heat had been unbearable.

While she had protected herself from the sun with an umbrella, Austin had spent the entire day standing under the blazing sun, filming non–stop. She couldn’t help but admire him.

Natalie reflected on the day’s events as she showered. She had never spent so much time under such scorching conditions before. The more she thought about it, the more impressed she became with Austin’s dedication.

After her shower, she applied a face mask before climbing into bed and chatted with Skylar on WhatsApp. “This weather is unbearable, and the food here is terrible. I’m starting to miss Jipsburg. Skye, I miss you so much.

“But I have to say, Mr. Powell is incredibly dedicated. Even in this awful weather, he didn’t take a single break while filming. I really admire him.”

She sent a few voice messages to Skylar but received no response. Skylar must have been busy.

When the time was up, Natalie removed her face mask and washed her face. Then, she proceeded with her skincare routine.

Just as she was about to return to bed after completing her skincare regime, Natalie heard a knock at the door. It was such a late hour, and she wondered if it was Austin outside.

She walked over to the door and peeked through the peephole.

Upon seeing Austin standing outside, she quickly opened the door.

“Mr. Powell.”

Austin stood there, dressed in casual loungewear, and his hair was still damp from a recent shower.

“Do you have a moment?” His gaze lingered on Natalie, who was smiling brightly.

There was something about Natalie that radiated a vibrant energy that made even the most complex things feel easy.

Without hesitation, Natalie nodded and said, “I do. If you need anything, just say the word, Mr. Powell. I’ll do

my best.”

Austin studied her for a moment before smiling. “I’m struggling with the rhythm of the two scenes we’re filming tomorrow. Could you help me run through them?”

“Me?” Natalie pointed at herself. “Are you sure I can handle it?”

She knew helping Austin rehearse would require some acting skills, and she worried about messing it up. “Don’t worry. You certainly can,” Austin reassured her.

Taking a deep breath, Natalie steeled herself. “Alright, I’ll give it a try. But if I mess it up, you have to tell

me.”

“Deal.”

A few minutes later, Natalie skimmed through the content of the two scenes. The first one seemed easy enough. It was just a dialogue between the male and female leads in a bar. Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

But the next one was a love scene. And not just any love scene–a full–on kissing scene with no lines at all. It was the kind of scene that would make anyone’s heart race.
