Gloria had thought things were progressing well. Given Joe and Skylar’s demeanor, it was clear their relationship had advanced quickly. She felt that she might soon be holding her great-
grandchild.
“Since Skye’s here, why don’t we let her see the letter too?” George suddenly suggested to Gloria.
She straightened her expression and nodded. “Yes, we were planning to call you over tomorrow. But since you’re both here now, this is perfect.”
Even Alexander seemed to grow more serious at the mention of the letter. It seemed that the letter mentioned by George was indeed very important.
Skylar didn’t expect that Viola had written the letter. “We want you to confirm if it’s in her handwriting,” Gloria asked after Skylar had NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
taken a look.
They were concerned that Viola’s handwriting might have changed after all these years. If someone had forged it, they might not be
able to tell.
Skylar’s hands trembled slightly as she held the letter. In this day and age, people usually communicate through text messages on WhatsApp or a quick call. Hardly anyone wrote letters to convey
messages anymore.
Yet, this method had a unique way of making the written words feel like one saw the person directly.
Her nose tingled as she fought back tears. Viola had practically
raised her, teaching her so much, and was no different from her real grandmother.
“It’s a letter from Grandma Viola, Skylar said, her voice catching slightly.
In the letter, Viola said she was doing well. She mentioned that she knew Skylar had married Joe and asked Gloria to take care of her.
Viola was also aware of the issues regarding negative items in Jipsburg City now.
She told them to trust her and said she could help with the situation. Viola mentioned she would be returning to Jipsburg in a
while.
When Skylar confirmed that Viola had indeed written the letter, the three elders‘ eyes grew misty, like children on the verge of tears.
“Viola mentioned she’d be back in a while, but she doesn’t have a place to stay yet. She can stay at my mansion. It’s quiet, spacious, and perfect for relaxing.
“There are plenty of houses, and she can choose whatever style she likes. If she wants to raise pets or grow vegetables, my place can definitely accommodate that,” George quickly offered.
George’s mansion was indeed ideal for retirement. Moreover, there weren’t many people living there now–just him, a solitary
individual.
The security was also good, which could help Viola’s safety.
Alexander shot George an annoyed glance. “Your place is too isolated and far. She should stay at my house. We’ve got more than enough room, and Viola can choose whichever room she likes.”
However, Gloria shot them both disapproving glances, clearly unimpressed. She declared, “There’s no way she’ll stay with either of you. If Viola is staying anywhere, it’s with me. Both Viola and I are women, and her favorite disciple is my granddaughter–in–law. It’s only natural for her to stay with me.
“She’ll be able to see Skye whenever she wants. We’re family, and you can’t compare. Don’t even think about competing with me for this.”
Even though Viola hadn’t arrived yet, the three elders were already bickering over who would host her.
Skylar, who had been holding back tears, couldn’t help but smile when she heard Gloria’s comment. She chimed in, “Exactly. Living with Grandma would be perfect. I’d even come to stay here too.”
“Occasionally.” Joe corrected her.
Skylar’s lips twitched as she shot him a playful glare.
“Skye’s right,” Gloria said smugly. She had the foresight to make Skylar her granddaughter–in–law. Alexander and George were left speechless, with no counterarguments to make.
George was still determined. He looked around the massive residence and added, “With your four or five floors, having one
more or one less person won’t make much of a difference. I might as well stay here for a few days now and then.”
“Count me in! It’s been a while since we played poker. Let’s get together for a game,” Alexander quickly added.
Gloria rolled her eyes again. She said, “No way. Viola and I will live together for a while first. You two can come by once we’ve caught up. Otherwise, you’ll just get in the way.”
