Chapter 22 Don't Turn on the Lights
Chapter 22 Don't Turn on the Lights
...
When Sean arrived at the hospital, it was already around 11 o'clock at night.
The light was off in the ward, it was pitch-dark. The nurse stood in front of the door, and finally breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Sean coming.
Sean didn't say anything, and opened the door of the ward with a chill.
Emma sat on the hospital bed with her knees folded, and tilted her head downwards in the darkness. No one could see her facial expression.
"Didn’t I say you are not allowed to enter the ward?" Emma's voice was a little nasal.
Sean's footsteps receded, and after a while he walked towards the light switch.
"Don't turn on the light. As I said, I don't need someone to take care of me. Can you leave me alone?" Emma said, in a low voice.
Sean’s hand was paused on the switch. He turned around and looked at the figure on the hospital bed.
Sean pulled the chair and sat down beside the hospital bed, with the light from the street lamp outside.
"It's me……"
He said in a low voice. But Emma, whose mind was in turmoil, instantly felt calm.
Emma raised her head. In the dark, her skin still looked fairy with sharp bright and beautiful eyes. Nobody couldn't tell if she had cried secretly.
"You didn’t plan to come, did you?" Emma asked emotionally, without her pride and bossy.
In fact, Emma has called him three times. It was not because he didn't see it, it was because he didn't even want to answer it.
He thought what he did was enough for the girl.
Being relied on could be a burden for a cold fish.
Sean has already paid medical expenses and hired a nursing assistant for her. He had no reason to stay here anymore, especially when he had to face such an immature and self-willed girl.
Sean sat in front of the hospital bed and didn’t say anything, only the slight rubbing sound of his coat when he moved.
Emma no longer looked at him, but turned to look out of the window.
A thin layer of snow has accumulated on the edge of the window. This winter was too cold for her. It snowed almost every day...
"Do you know that there is a low-cost Chinese restaurant ...between Aldgate and Liverpoolstreet underground stations in London? Occasionally, we would go to the restaurant when we had part-time job that day. The food there is very good with authentic Chinese taste, just as at-home food... I don’t know when it started. I have already forgotten the taste of home..."
The needle in her blood vessel caused her a sharp pain, but she didn't bother to pay attention to it, "I used to think there was a home where there was with him. It belonged only to the two of us, no matter where we were. We cooked the dishes we liked, and work hard for the rent of next month together. But we were still happy..."
Emma took a deep breath, lowered her long eyelashes which were reflected on her face, "I naively believed that Ivan has the same goal as me..."
She spoke incoherently about her past with Ivan, Sean listened quietly.
But from her heavy breathing, Sean still heard the abnormality.
"What happened?"
Sean's low voice was like the sound of cello, which was pleasant to listen to in the silent night.
In the darkness, Emma was in a choked voice, "Ivan is getting married..."
...
Sean did not reply, and he even began to feel a little irritable.
In the stormy night, he was sitting in the ward and wasting time listening to a little girl's previous relationship.
Sean changed his sitting position, his legs still crossed gracefully. Half of his expensive watch was exposed on his wrist on the arm of the chair.
Through the light outside, he saw the sweats on Emma's forehead.
However, they didn’t turn on the air conditioner in the ward, and the temperature was very low.
He couldn't help but reach out to her forehead.
Sure enough, her forehead was very hot.
Emma didn't hide. Instead, she was greedy for the temperature of his dry and warm palms. Because it just like she lay enfolded in Sean’s arms when she fell asleep in London.
Sean got up. The pager button was behind Emma.
When his arm crossed her, Emma was surrounded by his arms.
Emma looked up and saw his neat and charming chin.
As soon as Sean's finger touched the button, he trembled.
At the same time, his neck sank, and Emma was already entangled with him.
The voice from the pager rang through the loudspeaker in the corridor over and over again, "Ward No. 1309 is calling, ward No. 1309 is calling..."
Before Sean stayed away from her, Emma threw her arms around his neck tightly.
Her breath was slightly bitter because she hadn't had anything for two days, and her lips were dry. Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Her small restless hands touch around him wildly, and she was also trying to kiss him.
If it weren't for the awkward position, Sean could completely push her away.
But his hand happened to be entangled by the transmission pipe.
There was a salty taste in his mouth, Emma was crying...
Sean was stunned.
She whimpered, "Don't refuse me... Actually I can do better than Kate..."
At that moment, Sean was angry.
Who did she regard him as? Ivan?!
It was the first time that he felt intense shame and humiliation over 30 years.
Regardless of the transmission pipe wrapped around his arm, he stretched out his hands and held the back side of her head, and gave her a nasty bite on her tongue.
Emma was in pain, and wanted to hide. But she was held down by Sean.
This was the second time that Emma took initiative to kiss him. The first time she was painful and confused so it made sense that she regarded him as someone else. But what about this time?! Why should he continue to pretend to be someone else?
Sean had only one thought in his mind at that moment - let her learn the lesson.
At first, Sean took the retaliatory kiss for granted, but when he came back to her sense, he realized that how stupid he was.
He had sex drive which he shouldn’t have when facing her. Was he deceiving himself?
He was sober instantly, and the white light suddenly lit up at the same time. The light was so dazzling that he couldn't open his eyes.
The ward was instantly bright as day, and the nurse holding the saline bag in her hand was stunned at the door.
The nurse did not expect that the moment she turned on the light, she would see such a passionate scene.
...
The nurse stood at the door embarrassingly, without knowing if she should enter or retreat.
Sean let go of Emma, who had been kissed and almost lost her breath. Without saying a word, he turned and walked out.
Emma's mind has gone blank, and she couldn't even remember what happened just now.
The nurse gave way to Sean, and her gaze settled on him with surprise.
...
The nurse took Emma's temperature, looked at the temperature displayed on it, and said, "you temperature is 39.7, which is too high. Aren't you dizzy?"
When she was asked by the nurse, she suddenly felt dizzy, and even struggled to sit.
