Chapter 44 What Secret Is It?
Up until now, Venera finally understood the meaning of his word. She was so eager to push him off, but All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
the more she resisted, the tighter his kiss was.
She failed to push him off, while her body was sore due to that endeavor. But she still tried her best to
break free when she hit his shoulder vigorously.
What she didn't expect was that while he pressed her tightly, he reached out the other hand to grab her
hands and placed them behind her waist to force a hug on her.
Verena found herself unable to move. She regretted her former behavior.
This man was no ordinary. She would always be in the disadvantage if she tried forces with him.
Swallowing hard, Verena stared at him with her pale face, and protested, "Haven't you said that you are
not interested in me? What's the meaning of this? Don't you find it rather amusing?"
He was squinting at Verena while dropped a recondite remark, "It's one thing to be not interested in a
woman, and quite another the desire to conquer a woman. They can be concurrent!"
"Bullshit!" yelled Verena angrily, "who said so? All but your rascal excuses!"
Holding her jaw again, he squinted unhappily, "You can talk! Though I don't have any interest in you,
you have to pay the price of that slap you gave me!"
While he was speaking, his hands were still busy. He tossed his only clothes aside.
Verena was really panicky at that time. She hated to throw good money after bad.
But as a woman, still limited was her strength. No matter how she struggled, she couldn't break free.
Hiding in Lemuel's narrow eyes was the danger.
Before she was about to say something, someone knocked on the door.
"Master Lemuel, you are expected in the drawing room. Master Eden and Master Cole has been
waiting for half an hour."
"Acknowledged, thank you." Lemuel replied shortly. Fixing one arm near Verena's side and another still
holding her jaw, Lemuel forced the woman to look at him, "just remember! Your fortune doesn't always
work."
Then he got up, wore the bath robe as his pajamas. With a serious look, he picked up a string and tied
his robe.
Lemuel walked out of the room and walked towards the drawing room, sparing no further look at
Verena.
She sitting on the bed, Verena's heart was finally settled, for the moment.
The door was closed, and she leaned her body over in front of it and breathed rapidly. She found
herself barely able to stand.
It couldn't be more wrong to try to negotiate with Lemuel. The man was tough, and nothing could get to
him. She would even risk bringing the trouble back to herself.
Plus, today's word was straightforward enough. She knew what it meant.
His implication was: she was not pretty and didn't have a good family background. Her ability was quite
limited too. All that left for her to bargain was her body. But even with that only merit, she could not
please the man. Then what reason was there for the man to agree on marrying her?
In what means would she be able to convince him then?
No answer! Her mind was in a state of blank at the moment. She considered herself too weak by
comparison.
Meanwhile, she heard the servant's voice from other side of the closed door, "Miss. Moore, Mr. Lawson
requested your audience in his study."
In his study?
She frowned uncontrollably, what other business would Wilson have with her?
