Chapter 29 She Looks So Much Alike Albina!
Cole coughed and said slowly, "Well, because the steak tasted really nice…So I ate them all!"
When seeing that Lemuel's face turned to be sullen, he licked his own lips and hurried to continue,
"Don't worry, Lemuel! Stepmom is cooking now! You will have some dishes soon!"
Of course he didn't dare to joke with Lemuel. Otherwise, Lemuel would make him pay the price.
When hearing that, Verena almost dropped the knife and cut her own feet. She really wanted to slap
Cole!
Lemuel glanced at her and said with great disdain, "Do you think I will even touch the food cooked by
her?"
He even deemed it too dirty to be touched!
When hearing his humiliation, Verena was burning with anger. However, she tried hard to hold it back.
She deemed it unnecessary to argue with him. So she kept repeating to herself that she should calm
down.
When seeing that Lemuel walked away, Verena breathed a sigh of relief. Then he squinted at Cole,
looking annoyed, "Why don't you leave?"
"Why should I leave? I am waiting for the supper!" Cole smiled annoyingly.
While cutting the celeries, she huffed, "How dare you eat the supper cooked by your evil stepmom?
Aren't you afraid to be poisoned to death? Look at your brother, he is timid but wise! He is afraid to be
poisoned to death. So he doesn't even dare to touch it! Just leave with him! You should cherish your
own life just like him!"
Before Cole could utter, Lemuel, who was about to walk out of the kitchen, suddenly stopped as he
heard that. This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
"What's the matter, Lemuel?" Cole looked at him confusedly.
"I would like to see if evil stepmom's food would get me poisoned to death."
When hearing that, Verena was stunned and stood still, "What?"
She couldn't believe what he just said.
"What? Are you afraid you can't poison me to death?" Lemuel said mockingly, "Now you are afraid,
huh?"
Cole also added to gloat, "Stepmom, how dare you challenge his courage! I would like to see if the evil
stepmom could poison both of us to death."
While speaking, he moved two chairs to the door of the kitchen and said fawningly, "Lemuel, please
take a seat!"
Then he said to Verena arrogantly, "Stop looking at us! Continue with the food! Hurry! If you dare to put
weird seasonings in the food, you won't get out of the kitchen alive!"
They actually sat there to watch her? What a childish act!
Verena frowned. It was 11:00 PM. She had no more energy to bicker with them. Besides, she had to
work tomorrow. So she chose to finish cooking as soon as possible.
She took a deep breath and tried to ignore that suffocating feelings imposed by Lemuel. And she totally
focused on making the food.
Under the warm light, Verena kept her head down while her fair and nice-curved profile was revealed in
front of them. She put her hands in the basin to wash tomatoes while smiling.
When noticing her warm and nice-looking smile, Lemuel couldn't help squinting. He seemed to feel that
her figure looked much alike Albina's.
He was rendered a bit distracted when staring at her. Exactly speaking, he was trying to stare at Albina
from her figure.
Even the coldness in his eyes started to melt. It was then replaced by unnoticeable tenderness.
Cole also frowned, looking surprised. He noticed that Verena looked really much alike Albina.
Though he didn't notice that before, it was not until now did he realize that she looked alike Albina.
Cole shifted his gaze to look at Lemuel who sat beside him. He saw him squinting at her, looking
mysterious. No one could tell what he was thinking now.
Cole didn't utter and held back his words. Even he himself could notice that Verena looked much alike
Albina. Of course Lemuel would notice the same thing.
Albina had been the only taboo in Lemuel's heart.
About an hour later, Verena finished cooking. She presented four dishes—fried beef mixed with
celeries, spicy beancurd, green bean, peppery chicken and fish soup.
Though it would be a weird choice to have spicy food before sleep, she really fancied some spicy food
as she hadn't tasted it for a long time. For a person with craze for spicy taste, it was the greatest
temptation for her.
As she just raised her head after holding up the dishes, she looked into a pair of dark and deep eyes,
which seemed to such her in like an abyss.
Verena was stunned and stared at Lemuel blankly.
He didn't look indifferent and mocking as usual. Instead, he looked warm and tender mixed with other
different feelings this time.
But she had no idea why he looked at her so differently.
Frowning confusedly, Lemuel shifted his gaze off her and returned to be cold as usual. He took a
glimpse at her and stood up to walk away from the kitchen.
It seemed that he felt worse than a moment ago.
"Lemuel, you don't want to eat some?" Cole shouted at his back.
But Lemuel simply ignored him. Only his heavy footsteps sounded when he walked upstairs.
Verena deemed it a bit weird. But she felt so lucky that she could finally enjoy her supper at ease after
he left.
"Aren't you afraid to be poisoned to death?" Verena huffed when seeing that Cole sat down beside the
table.
"Of course I am not afraid!" he picked up some chicken and tasted it. Suddenly, his eyes seemed to be
lit up, "Wow, no wonder everyone says that whoever girl captures a man's appetite, she would
definitely make him stay for her! Stepmom, you really capture my appetite. From now on, you are my
personal chef! You should come to cook for me whenever I need you!"
"Stop daydreaming!" Verena glared at him.
As expected, Cole almost gulped down all those dishes. Verena only ate a little. She couldn't even
taste the soup.
The night turned to be darker.
Lemuel stood still in front of the huge French window just like a statue, unmoved. The cigarette in his
hands emitted smoke gradually.
His cold and charming face was covered in smoke. After quite a while, he finally uttered, "Albina…"
Verena arrived at the shooting site the next early morning.
"That's the fur coat you have dry cleaned for me?" Clare glared at Verena while pinching a corner of
the fur coat with his fingers painted with red enamel, looking disdainful.
