Chapter 24 Being Expelled from the Company
Chapter 24 Being Expelled from the Company
When the door was closed, Lemuel walked over to the window with a pair of pants only. He reached his
upper body out of the window and saw Verena, who was wrapped in a while quilt, was lying beside the NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.
baluster outside window. She was still trembling all over out of fear. Even a simple move might make
her fall off the window.
Lemuel was stunned when seeing that. But then he looked sullen with a mocking face again. He didn't
expect that she actually risked her own life just because she wanted to keep herself in the Lawson
Mansion still.
He stared at her coldly and said sternly, "Come in, now!"
"Did he leave?" Verena said with trembling voice. She even happened to slip and almost fell off. So she
grabbed the window hard, looking pale.
However, she still stuck to a will—she would never let herself be expelled!
She could never leave here! Otherwise, she would lose a stable financial backup forever for her father,
which would result in a consequence that she could do nothing but to see her father dying.
He frowned and shouted at her, "Get inside! Now!"
Verena bit her lips hard. Her face went paler while she was crawling beside the balusters. Every single
move made her heart skip a beat.
Lemuel kept his lips pressed and then reached out his long arm to grab her. Then he threw her onto the
bed, "Get out!"
'What a freak gold digger!'
Of course, Verena wanted to leave immediately.
She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. Then she teetered out of the room with her
trembling legs.
She still couldn't collect herself when she got into her own room. She leaned against the door and kept
gasping for air.
At this moment, the voice of a servant sounded, "Miss Moore, time for breakfast!"
She answered and then started to wash herself up and got herself changed when she finally calmed
down.
When everything was ready, she went downstairs to the parlor, where Wilson, Cole and Sammy were
all waiting on their seats.
When seeing her, Sammy jumped off the chair and threw himself into her arms, "Miss Pretty, hug me!"
Verena smiled and held him up in her arms. Then she took a seat, "Little Sammy, good morning!"
Cole glanced at Verena and then tapped on Sammy's head, huffing, "Little Sammy? What an awful
name! You sound like a peke! And you even feel happy for that, huh?"
"I am not a peke! But you are! You are the ugliest peke in the world!" Sammy refuted with his eyes wide
opened.
"Hey, kid, do you want to be punched?" while speaking, Cole rolled up his sleeve and pretended to fight
him.
Sammy was aware that Cole wouldn't be merciful when spanking him. So he hurried to hide himself in
Verena's arms.
"Okay, time for breakfast!" Wilson interrupted and then looked at her, "Are you feeling good living here?
How do you like the decoration in your room? Do you want to change something inside?"
"I feel good here. Don't worry." Verena smiled to reply. But she looked a bit weird.
While they were talking, Lemuel went downstairs. He was wearing a stripe shirt with grey pants. He
looked elegant as usual.
Soon, Verena kept her head down and pretended to play with Sammy. But her heart kept beating
fiercely out of control.
Lemuel then sat down and looked at Verena. He said coldly, "You don't need to work from now on!"
Verena raised up her head to look at him.
Wilson frowned and asked sternly, "Why?"
"I don't want to see a woman like you walking around in front of me!"
Though he was answering Wilson, he still fixed his eyes on Verena, looking serious.
"No!" Wilson refuted and said firmly, "You can make her work in another department!"
"No!" Lemuel looked indifferent still, "If you don't agree, I will move out here right now! And I can expel
her from the company as well!"
"You don't want the thing you have been the most earnest to get?" Wilson tried to negotiate with the
final chip.
He looked cold and leaned against the chair, "Of course I want it! But I don't want to compromise
either!"
Wilson seemed to be a bit softened, "Well, if Miss Moore agreed, I wouldn't insist."
"Okay." Lemuel answered casually.
Then Wilson cast a meaningful look at Verena.
Of course she could tell what Wilson meant. He wanted her to refuse and continue to work in the
company.
Lemuel fixed his eyes on her while tapping the table. Then he smiled mockingly and threatened, "Miss
Moore, I remember that last night, you got into…"
"I barely know anything about the business in the company. So it's quite tough for me to work there. I'd
better quit the job." Before Lemuel finished, Verena hurried to interrupt while her heart was still beating
fast. Though her face looked pale, she managed to cover it up.
When hearing that, Wilson looked a bit upset.
Lemuel shifted his gaze off her and stood up, looking satisfied, "I will have a meeting soon. I need to go
to the company now."
When Lemuel totally disappeared, Verena, who had been nervous, finally felt a bit relieved. Her back
was drenched with sweat and she got goose bumps all over. She couldn't imagine the consequence
when Wilson knew what happened last night.
Wilson only took a few bites and then started to cough. He left, looking awful and pale as if he was
feeling sick.
"Stepmom, you did a good job! Nice!" Cole let out a conceited smile and then left while whistling.
After breakfast, Verena sat on the balcony, looking distracted.
Of course, what happened last night went against her will. Though she felt guilty for Wilson, she could
never let anyone else know about it.
Even she herself didn't expect that she would actually get into such an miserable situation.
She looked bitter while biting her lips hard, feeling a bang of pain.
At this moment, her phone rang.
She collected herself and picked it up to answer, "Hello?"
"Verena, this is Joy. You have asked me for a part-time job, right? Now we need an assistant for the
shooting crew. Do you want to try?"
