Chapter 105 Led to A Crisis
Chapter 105 Led to A Crisis
Riley was agonized and pinched on the bridge of her nose. Today had been a mess. All she wanted to
do was just being alone. “I’ve told you there’s no need. Don’t come over. I’m leaving.”
Hendrix was disappointed and pursed his lips. His sister-in-law’s refusal made him unhappy. But Riley
was a resolute person. No one could force her to do anything she didn’t want to do.
“Alright. If you want to have a drink, come and find me. I’ll let my friends go and be with you!”
“Have a good time and just leave me alone.” Riley hanged up hurriedly. She didn’t want to get in touch
with Euan. Even if it was just his brother, she didn’t want to talk much to him.
Apart from the noisy bars, there were several simple pubs around. They were quiet enough to enjoy for
a while there.
She parked the car and walked in a nice and clean pub.
Elijah saw Riley get out of the car and walk into the pub. He asked in worry, “Boss, shall we follow?”
She must hate to see him after the unpleasant dinner. Euan rolled down the window slowly and
watched Riley staggering at night. He was filled with complicated feelings, but he couldn’t come to hold
her. “No. We just wait here.”
“OK.”
Elijah seldom saw his boss being so sad. He could tell Euan’s sadness without looking at him.
There were quite a lot of people in the pub. Some people got drunk alone. Some people were
mumbling drunken gibberish. Others were weeping out on the phone.
Riley washed her face in the bathroom and removed her eyeliners. Then a clean and delicate face
reflected in the mirror.
But her swollen eyes after crying was obvious without make-up.
She went back to the hall of the pub and sat on a corner.
“Mr. George, what are you looking at? What’s wrong with you?”
Hendrix didn’t answer his friend. He gazed at the dramatic scene.
What happened? Didn’t she go back home? Why she was here?
Hendrix was about to come to ask Riley when he saw Euan’s car parking under the tree outside.
Hendrix wondered if it were his illusion, but he didn’t get drunk today. Then why Riley was drinking
alone in the pub, while Euan was in the car to watch her? What was going on?
“Riley!”
Hendrix suddenly came over. He took a chair and placed it between Riley and a strange man, putting
his hand on Riley’s shoulder with enthusiasm and being naughty like a child.
Riley was surprised, “Hendrix? You…”
Bad luck. Why Hendrix would be in the same place? Didn’t he like bar? Why he was in a pub? This was
not his style at all.
“What a coincidence! Riley, we obviously are families. But why I don’t see Euan? His car seemed to be
outside.”
Had Euan followed her?
Riley was too hurt to talk. She took a sip of water, “He…”
“You two had a quarrel? Riley, quarrel is not a big deal for a couple. It will be OK soon. If you are not
happy, you can take a rest in the George's Mansion. I can go with you!”
Riley didn’t know what to say in front of Hendrix. “Yes, we had a quarrel. Don’t lend a hand in our
affairs, or your brother might hit you.”
Hendrix grinned and played with his decorations hanging on him. “Riley, Euan appears to be cold but is
inwardly warm-hearted. He’s a good man. He seems to be strict and cold to me, but actually he cares
me a lot. He pays all the expense of my hanging out.”
Being cold outwardly and warm-hearted inwardly? Maybe it was so. But it had nothing to do with her
anymore.
“Alright … Have fun. I’m leaving.”
Riley hadn’t thought that she couldn’t enjoy a moment of her own and even ran into trouble.
Hendrix grinned, “Euan is just outside. Will you give him a chance?”
“Don’t lend a hand in adults’ affairs, OK?” Riley suddenly asked him to shut up with a sullen tone.
Hendrix shut up and went to his friends.
Riley went out of the pub. The breeze blew her hair and dress, which made her look beautiful and yet
gaunt. She was so vulnerable that Euan wanted to carefully protect her.
Riley became soberer in the blowing wind. And what happened in front of her was also clearer.

Hearing someone was calling her name, Riley was stunned a bit. She looked around and found that it
was William who came to her in the wind.
What was going on tonight?
“I heard from my colleague that you are in the pub. I’m worried about you, so I come here.” William’s
gentle voice echoed in the dark.
Riley felt a warmth in her heart, but she stepped back. “I’m going home.”
Seeing her swollen eyes, William could tell she had a bad night. “I could be with you if you are willing
to. I’m worried that you might overthink if you were alone.”
It did not make sense even medically when a vulnerable woman met with a passionate and sincere
man, but Riley still stayed calm and passionless.
But Riley felt sorry for William, but she just couldn’t accept his gentleness.
Riley stepped back a little, “I’m fine. It will be OK. Thank you, Mr. Hardesty.”
William could not help himself and he took her hand. He came all the way here and had a lot to tell
Riley. But obviously, she couldn’t listen to him seriously at this moment. “If you were tired, come to me.
I’ll be waiting for you.”
Riley wanted to cry. “Thank you … But sorry, I can’t.”
“Boss, Mrs. George…”
Euan’s eyes were filled with anger. He resisted the impulse to get off and kill William, the fire of anger
burning inside him.
“Move! Go back!”
It was midnight when Riley came back home. She changed a pair of slippers at the door and hanged
her bag on the shelf in the hallway. Then she went to the bathroom to take a shower.
Lydia did not sleep. She had been waiting for Riley. Seeing Riley enter the bathroom, she didn’t turn on
the light and crept downstairs to the hallway by the light of the outside.
Lydia looked around to make sure no servant was there.
She opened Riley’s bag and found the gold card given by Anika as she expected.
Lydia snickered and shook the card proudly.
Things went well with the help of Anika. When she gave it to Euan, Riley could not stay here anymore.
The next day, Riley woke up and found her eyes was as swollen as a bulb.
How could she go to work with this look? She must be laughed at if she did so.
After a second thought, she rummaged through the contents of the box until she found a pair of
glasses. She had low degree of myopia, so she didn’t wear glasses when there was no surgery. It was
lucky enough that she didn’t lose it.
The black-framed glasses on her small nose covered nearly half of her face, making her look like a
delicate college student.
“Wow, you are pretending to be pitiful. Who do you want to show that look to?”
Lydia’ bold mockery meant that Euan was not at home.
Riley ignored Lydia. She didn’t eat breakfast, rather, she changed her shoes to go for work.
‘Hubris! Go on with your hubris! I will push you into the hell today!’
When Riley opened the door, Elijah came over.
Elijah bowed politely, “Good morning, Mrs. George.”
Riley nodded as her reply.
Elijah entered with his hand folded in front of him. He said in a polite and firm tone, “Ms. Saunders, Mr.
George has ordered that you are not allowed to enter this mansion from now on.”
What?
Riley and Lydia were shocked at the same time.
Did Euan mean it last night? It should be impossible.
Lydia shouted suddenly, “Nonsense! I’ll call Euan! I have his child. He can’t do this!”
“Ms. Saunders. This is Mr. George’s order and I need your cooperation.”
Riley watched what happened silently. The scene where Lydia was taken away had been her dull pain.
She was hurt!
God, driving a person out indifferently like this was terrifying. Today it was Lydia, but next day would it
be her turn?
“Let go! Let me go! I have the child of the George family. Don’t touch me!”
Lydia held the doorknob so hard that her face turned paled. Riley was worried at seeing this. Lydia was
pregnant and she shouldn’t be so excited.
“Lydia, sit down. Take care of your child.”
Riley just reminded her, and Lydia immediately wailed with her hands on her belly, “My belly … It hurts!”
Elijah asked his men to stopped at hearing this.
Lydia felt so painful that the sweat broke out on her forehead. She slumped onto the sofa with her body
twisted, “Save … my child!”
Riley put down her bag and came to Lydia, “Take a deep breath. Don’t worry, listen to me…”
“Piss off! You are trying to kill me!”
“Listen, I am a doctor. If you don’t listen to me, your baby will be in danger. You choose what to do!”
Lydia was frightened. She began to follow Riley’s guidance. Riley turned around and scolded, “What
are you doing here? Call Euan now!”
Riley’s calmness when facing crisis surprised Elijah.
Twenty minutes later.
Euan came back in a hurry and drove out all the men brought by Elijah. He walked in and saw Riley
was kneeling at the carpet to do an emergency treatment to Lydia.
“Lilah, hot water!”
“Lydia, inhale. Good, exhale.”
“Sophia, give me a pillow.”
Riley propped Lydia’s thighs up with the pillow to ease the pain of her belly.
Euan stood in front of the sofa. He saw Lydia’s pale face, and then saw Riley doing her skilled
treatment.
Riley’s skill reminded him of Aiden’s words that Riley was a talent and an ace doctor who was enrolled
in the medical school when she was 16.
Riley took a deep breath and wiped her sweat on her forehead, “Alright. You were being too excited
just now. You can’t do that from now on. Don’t worry. The baby is safe.”
Lydia was too hurt to talk, but she was not going to thank Riley at all.
Lydia looked up and saw Euan standing here silently. His figure shadowed over her.
Riley put back the medical box. She lowered her head and said, “She was being too excited. You may
help her upstairs now.”
Euan?
Lydia opened her eyes with delight on her pale face, “Euan, you … ah, you’re back.”
Riley held down her belly, “I said don’t be excited!”
Lydia gritted her teeth, “You are a cardiologist. What do you know about obstetrics and gynecology?”
That was ignorant! Every doctor had been in every department when they interned in the hospital. But
let it be. She didn’t want to argue with an idiot.
Euan looked at Lydia indifferently. Nothing could be told from his dark eyes. “I’ll carry you up.”
Riley watched them went upstairs. Her legs gave out and she collapsed onto the sofa. After kneeling
for half an hour, she felt her knees ached.
She had a serious occupational disease—she couldn’t bear to watch her patients suffer.
But Lydia was different.
She tugged at Euan’s sleeve as soon as she lay down.
“Euan, I have to tell you something.”
She endured the pain like she was struggling to make her last words.
“Tell me another day.” Euan tucked up Lydia in the summer quilt and stood up.
“No. I have to tell you now. I can’t watch you be fooled.”
Euan frowned.
Lydia took out the gold card, “Euan, I found this card unintentionally from Riley. She insisted on
divorcing because she took Anika’s money!”
