Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 410

Her eyes twinkled with a playful charm, "Mr. Everett, the little one said he wants you home early."

"The little one said that?" Everett raised an eyebrow with amusement. "And what about the little one's mom? Does she want me home early too?"

Selena didn't answer directly, just teased, "Well, that depends on whether the little one's dad has learned his lesson."

He loved this spark of hers, always knowing how to tug at his heartstrings just right.

Gently, he placed a hand on her belly, speaking softly to their baby, "Tell Daddy's little messenger that I'll be home early to keep Mommy company. And you, behave yourself, okay? Don't give your mom a hard time." Outside, Alex was already waiting with the car.

Everett pulled his hand back, ready to leave, but then paused. "Selena, if you're feeling cooped up, go ahead and take a walk. Just have Bill and the guys with you. It's for your own good. You're still in a delicate state, especially these first few months, and things might get a bit hectic around here."

Selena understood his concern masked by those words.

She didn't show any displeasure, just shrugged casually, "We'll see. I've been so wiped out lately, feeling dizzy after just a few steps. I think I'll stick with my bed for now. But... can I get my phone back? I want to call my uncle and share the good news; otherwise, I'll die of boredom."

Her decision to stay put made Everett even happier.

As long as she was within his reach, he'd bend over backward to keep her content and smiling.Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

"Sure thing."

Unable to resist, he pulled her into a tight embrace and kissed her deeply before leaving, feeling satisfied.

Selena stood at the door, a gentle smile on her face, watching as he ducked into the car, and Alex gave her a nod from afar. The car rolled out of the driveway, disappearing from view. She turned back inside, her smile fading.

Ava, who had tactfully stayed out of

sight earlier, popped up, puzzled, "Mrs. Bennett, why don't you step out for a bit? Staying in all the time isn't good for you."

Clearly, Mrs. Bennett was someone who enjoyed being out and about.

Selena replied with a light heart, "Not just yet. There's no rush."

That afternoon, Bill handed Selena her phone back with care. It felt a tad heavier in her hands.

She dialed her uncle Brook, chatted about family for a bit, then got serious, "Uncle, soon I'm heading abroad for some prenatal care. I probably won't be back until after the baby's born, so it might be a while. You and Ricky take good care of yourselves, especially you."

"Ricky can start taking over the company bit by bit. It's time for you to take it easy, enjoy some peace, and stop getting roped into unnecessary messes."

Brook, though a bit reluctant,

couldn't argue with his favorite

niece, conceding with a sigh, "Alright, Selena, I get it. It's a blessing, really, to have another child so soon. Your future is bright; just take care of yourself. I'll come visit you overseas!"

Selena smiled softly, "Okay, don't worry about us. Everett, the baby, and I will be just fine."

By evening, Everett was back home.

He stepped into the bedroom, expecting to find Selena lounging in bed, but it was empty. A quick look around revealed she wasn't there.

He tossed aside his coat and loosened his tie, making his way to the study.

Pushing the door open, he found Selena engrossed in writing at the large desk. Pen in hand, her focus was so intense she didn't notice him approach.

Standing beside her, his dark eyes glanced at the page, and he asked softly, "Mrs. Bennett, what's got you writing so intently?"
