Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 155

In the spacious and quiet presidential suite, laughter suddenly erupted. Holding his stomach, Jaime collapsed onto the sofa, laughing so hard that tears rolled down his cheeks.

"Three bucks! So you worked your tail off all afternoon, and all you got was three bucks as a tip. Gotta hand it to Selena-she's a genius! She's got some real talent!" Across from Jaime, Everett sat on the couch, gripping a wine glass, and stared at him like a ghost from the past.

Completely oblivious, Jaime picked up one of the coins, puzzled, and asked, "But why is it three bucks? An old girlfriend of mine used to write those CEO romance novels, and she told me that if the heroine wants to humiliate the hero, one buck is the limit!" He glanced up at Everett with a teasing grin. "But of course, you're worth a little more than the average guy!"

Everett was at a loss. Should he just admit that it was because they had sex three times, so three bucks it was? What made Everett any better than the run-of-the-mill hero?

He tossed back his head, downing the wine in one go, and shot a fierce glare at Jaime. "Say one more word of this nonsense, and you're out of here!"

"Come on, don't be like that."

Jaime finally picked up on the fact that his buddy was about to blow a fuse and quickly threw up his hands in surrender.

He and Everett had been tight since they were kids. This golden boy, born with a silver spoon and exceptional talent, was always the one others looked up to. Never had he been the butt of a joke, especially not by the woman he'd once treated with such indifference-his own wife.

After catching wind of the gossip from Derick that afternoon, Jaime skipped out on the big shindig that night to come mock-no, comfort-his buddy's bruised ego. He was on a mission, after all; he couldn't just up and leave.

Jaime poured himself another glass

of wine, savoring a sip before slipping into the role of the understanding friend. "Everett, girls often say the opposite of what they mean if she's letting you into her bed, it means she still cares. She's

just playing hard to get to keep up appearances."

Men and women weren't the same. Men could separate sex from emotion, but for women, you had to win their hearts before you could win their bodies. "Really?" Everett's eyes narrowed slightly.

escapades, Jaime swore

confidently, "Absolutely! Women might have long hair, but they sure don't have long memories and are always plotting something. I'm

wrong, I'll... I'll say goodbye to my

penis!"

To Jaime's surprise, Everett lifted his chin, gesturing to the fruit knife on the coffee table. He said coolly, "Well, you can start now. Selena slept with me, but she still wants a divorce!" Jaime was floored. "No way, that can't be true!"

He paused, eyeing Everett up and down, his confidence shaken. "No wonder you've got that abandoned husband look. Ha! Even you have your bad days!" He chuckled at Everett's predicament.

Everett chuckled along, his lips curving slightly as he spoke, "Better get on with it. It'll save me the trouble."

Jaime's face went pale, his hands instinctively shielding his groin. "Whoa, buddy! I'm ready to be your love guru and come up with many plans to make sure Selena falls for you all over again!"

Selena returned to Moon Bay, grabbed a quick bite, and then headed back to her room to catch up on sleep.

She slept fitfully, not knowing how

long until the ring of her phone pulled her back to wakefulness. Barely opening her eyes, she reached for her phone by the pillow. She answered without checking the caffer ID, "Hello."
