Chapter 1 Time Travel Mission!
Chapter 1 Time Travel Mission!
In the hospital of JZ City.
Shirley Xia slowly opened her eyes. Her head pounded as pain raked all over her body. Grey walls
loomed over her as the scent of formalin entered her nostrils. Ignoring her splitting headache, she tried
her best to recall what had happened.
She was reading a novel before dozing off. It was the one that had attracted her attention because of
all the cliche and overused plot lines.
After finishing the book, she had fallen asleep.
She had no idea why she was in a hospital.
The door opened.
Shirley Xia immediately tilted her head up as the next few words shot out of her mouth. "What's wrong
with me?" she asked hurriedly. "Am I dying or something?"
Suddenly, a chuckle echoed across the ward. It seemed that the temperature had just dropped by a
few degrees.
She shivered at the sound. Without another word, she glanced at the people who had just walked it.
She wasn't expecting to see a handsome man in a business suit. With such a strong jawline, he
could've been a popular star. In fact, he exuded the same arrogance of one.
But why would such a man come to her room? Puzzled, Shirley Xia glanced at the woman standing
beside him. Her eyes were bright and shiny, and there was just something about her that emitted child-
like innocence. In fact, she looked exactly like...
Wait!
Shirley Xia froze.
It felt as if her whole world stopped before her. How could they look like the main characters in the
novel that she had just read?
"Who are you?" she demanded. Damon Ji and Karla Lin? Were they really standing in front of her?
"Your leg was hit, not your brain," the man sneered. "Don't act stupid. I didn't expect that you'd actually
hit my car on purpose."
Although the first half of his words weren't in the book, the latter part was. It was exactly what the hero
had said to the supporting character.
When he said it, Karla Lin pulled his sleeves. "Don't say that. No one would do such a thing," she
stated. "Even if she risks her life, it means that she's willing to pay for everything..."
The words in the book played over in her mind as Shirley Xia could feel goose bumps all over her body.
At this point in time, she couldn't tell whether this was real or a dream. She pinched her arms, trying to
get a hold of herself. "Look, I'm fine," she cut in. "You can go now." From what she had remembered,
her character would later come to a miserable end. She would be banished to Africa to act as a
prostitute. By then, she would have slept with plenty of men. In the end, she would be met with death.
Even if this was just a dream, she didn't want it to morph into a nightmare.
While Shirley Xia was thinking, a mechanical voice sounded at the back of her mind. "Welcome to Light
of Mary Su. I'm Sam, and I'll be your personal consultant. Now, you've become the supporting role in
the story The Star Girlfriend of the Master Devil. If you'll be able to humiliate the hero and the heroine,
you'll accumulate experience points and upgrade. Once you reached level twenty-three, then you will
be able to leave. If you failed your mission, then you'll stay in the book forever. You will also meet your
miserable end."
What the hell? What the hell did he just say? "Are you crazy? I want to go home!" she exclaimed.
"Every time you've succeeded in upgrading one level, there will be a reward waiting for you that could
help you in advancing the plot line. Good luck."
The monotonous voice disappeared in an instant.
"What did you say?" When Shirley Xia came to her senses, she saw Damon Ji stalking towards her.
It was then when she realized that she had just yelled out of surprise. It seemed that both of them had
heard it.
According to the plot, Karla Lin wanted to give up on Damon Ji because of her, which only made the
man despise her more. Thinking of the task, Shirley Xia decided to bite the bullet. She sneered, "Didn't
you hear what I just said? I won't be repeating myself. Get the hell out of my room!"
"Don't be angry, Shirley. I-I just heard that you couldn't forget him and how you married his brother just
to piss him off. If you...if you really feel that way, I'll leave him," Karla Lin stated softly.
At her words, Damon Ji's face darkened.
Shirley Xia had half of her mind not to punch the woman. It was as if Karla Lin wanted her to disappear
in the face of the earth! If she couldn't complete her mission, then she would not only be banished to
Africa, but she would also die from malaria! There was no way in hell that she was going to let that
woman win.
"Really?" Shirley Xia forced a smile into her lips. "It's not the first day that you know I like him. Why
didn't you leave then?" At this point, Shirley was already getting into her role as a vicious character.
"I didn't expect that you'll love him that much." Karla Lin cowered under her gaze. Even if she didn't
scream at the woman's face, the heroine looked as if she was about to cry.
"You didn't expect what? You know for a fact that I was engaged to him, and you're still with him. Do
you think you can take him away just because I wasn't that interested in him anymore? Don't be so
ridiculous," Shirley continued.
Fortunately, since she had just read the book, she knew what had happened all throughout the story.
Being the heroine of the story, Karla Lin had eighty percent of the men in the book after her. In fact,
they would do everything to help her as if they were some dogs waiting to be praised. Other women
who were introduced in the book were either her friends or antagonists ready to rip her life apart.
Shirley hated how spineless Karla was portrayed. That was why she had hoped that the supporting
actress would give her a hard time.
Now, she was handed that task. She wanted to claw her way out of this book.
What if her mission failed? What would happen to her then? She was now at level zero, and at this
point...she knew she had to think for herself. Shirley clenched her fists and glared at the woman in front
of her.
Before she was able to take her yapping, Damon slapped her across the face.
"How dare you talk to her like that?" he bellowed.
Shirley felt blood rushing up to her face as she directed her glare at him.
"What the hell? How dare you hit me?" she snarled. Although Damon's domineering aura crushed her
confidence, she needed to hold on and restrain herself. There was no way she was going to be
defeated like this.
"I'm the heir of the Xia Film Company. Who are you? Without your brother, who even knows you? Have
you even earned a single penny? And you think you're deserving of you parent's money?" Shirley
continued.
Although he was handsome, he didn't suit her taste. While she was reading, Shirley always hated
reading about Damon. She had tons of complaints regarding the rich CEO standing before her. He
didn't earn a single cent for the company his parents had built. Instead, he lounged around and fell in
love with a nobody.
His face flushed red. "Are you asking for death?"
"It's none of your business, is it? Now get out of here!" Shirley rang the bell beside her bed to call the
doctors in. "If you're not afraid of losing face, then fine. Stay here all you want."
If this was any other day, Shirley would've shrunk back at the glare he was giving her, but she forced
herself to stand her ground.
"So you've finally learned to play hard to get?" Damon sneered.
While they were talking, the nurses and doctors finally came in at the sound of the bell. When they saw
Damon standing in front of Shirley, they couldn't hide the fear that crept up their faces.
He turned towards them. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Miss Shirley is fine now. Get her discharged." "How dare you?" she yelled.
She had just been in a car accident, and her body still hadn't recovered. Half of her legs were still
numb, and bandages covered her limbs. How was she going to walk? How could he do such a thing?
"Do you even know who I am? I'm the successor of the Xia Film Company!"
"The Xia Film Company?" Damon snorted. "It will be gone soon enough."
In the plot of the original book, what Damon had said touched the readers. He might be strong and
handsome, but he was also willing to risk everything for his lover. However, what he had just said
simply disgusted the hell out of Shirley.
Damon didn't even have the ability to throw her out. He only relied on his brother to run the family
business, and then he used that money to help Karla rise to fame. At this point, they were nothing but
leeches.
Before Shirley could add anything, a nurse forcefully helped her up. The other nurses packed up her
clothes. In just a few minutes, she was already thrown out of the hospital
Damon drove Karla away from her.
When the car passed by Shirley, she could see the melancholy and self-pity all over Karla's face. The
sight sickened her.
"You've upgraded to the first level and got your reward. When will you use it? Now or later?" Sam's
mechanical voice sounded.
"Later," Shirley said after a pause.
"Okay. As your level increases, you will need more and more experience points. Good luck!"
She didn't even know how to reply.
Seeing as she had nowhere else to go, she decided to take a taxi home.
The supporting actress in the text married his brother, Samuel Ji, in order to take revenge on Damon.
Once she had arrived, Shirley made sure to be quiet. While Damon was only pretending to be a
dangerous tiger, Samuel Ji was the real beast of the household.
In fact, the Ji Group wouldn't be where it was if it wasn't for him.
However, it suddenly occurred to Shirley that Samuel Ji was just the adopted son of the Ji Family. All
he had done was to pave the way for Damon's success. Later in the novel, he finally knew the truth
about his identity. After a long time wallowing in pain, he transformed into an evil man. He killed his
parents out of cold blood.
He only chose to turn himself in after Karla had convinced him to.
"What did you do?" A calm voice sounded behind her.
Shirley froze.
The chandelier in the hall suddenly lit up, and the bright line reflected in Shirley's eyes. She raised her
hand to shadow herself, feeling like a criminal in an interrogation room.
There was a huge French window located at the other side of the hall with a leather chair right beside
it. A man in a black shirt sat there. One of his hand was holding a newspaper while the other was
holding the light switch.
Although he appeared casual, there was something about his voice that sent chills down her
spine.
