I wish I hadn’t gone to the hospital! I’d rather think I was sick, just because I’ve been working hard lately than what I’ve been told.
I’m pregnant. Pregnant! And this pregnancy was certainly not part of my plans. Damn! Now what am I supposed to do with all of this? What do I do? The doctor was very loyal when he realized that I was not very happy about the news and immediately suggested an abortion. The term is small, there are no risks, and everything can be taken care of with one magic pill.
“I had to think about it,” I told her. But what was I going to think about? Having a baby in a foreign country? Being a single mother? And the worst part was that I didn’t know whose baby it was. Vlad’s or Vladimir’s. That’s what made me cringe more than anything in the world. We didn’t use protection… Not with Vova, not when they were alone with me that night and that morning. My God, how shameful! How hard it is to remember! But my body was pierced by a treacherously sweet shiver of desire… I was not normal. I ran away from them. And seemed to have done everything right. But the pregnancy!
“Well, just don’t wait too long, you’ll have to deal with it by other means. This is the safest and most painless. Call me tomorrow and let me know your decision,” Patricia handed me her card.
“Okay”.
I arrived at the apartment Evelina had given me. It was spacious. But it was infuriating that my boss could come to me at any time and when she was not expected at all. Arrogant and unprincipled. She and Vladimir were like soul mates. Although there was nothing in common between them.
She has no children and never had any. So she decided to be a mommy to me. Forgetting that I have long grown up and do not need to be raised.
Nausea again. Dizzy again. I want to eat, but I can’t. So I decided to just lie down on the bed with impotence and fell asleep.
Vlad
Here I flew to Rome. The weather is much warmer than ours. I can already feel how great my vacation will be. I haven’t been a schoolboy for a long time, but I really want to have vacations. No vacation, no work trips, no business trips. It’s a vacation. A Mexican vacation would have been better, but that would be all for later.
From the airport I took a cab, loaded my suitcase into the trunk. Didn’t take much stuff. I booked a hotel and asked the driver to take me to the Hotel Modigliani.
On the way I looked through the window at the beautiful views and rejoiced like a little child. That very soon my dream would come true and I would see the Colosseum for real, not in pictures.
But as always all good things come to an end sooner or later. The driver brakes sharply, but does not have time, because already crashed into the back of an expensive car.
“We have a problem,” the cab driver tells me.
“I can see that. But you have to solve this problem on your own.”
Enough, I have already had a case in my life where I felt sorry for the cab driver and became the cause of the accident. But this is a completely different case. No one ran out onto the road, he just hit himself.
A woman runs out of the expensive car. She swears in Russian. She looks about fifty years old. A tough lady, you can’t tell anything. She starts threatening me right away.
I want to get my suitcase out of the trunk as fast as I can and get out of here, but no way.
“You’re going to answer for this. Are you asleep at the wheel? Then you have to wake up!”
“I had nothing to do with it. I’m just a passenger. Let me get my suitcase.”
“You’re a witness to an accident. I’m not letting you go anywhere.”
She dials someone’s number and speaks Italian. The poor cab driver, I notice him starting to shake, and then he tells me.
“It’s the director of a popular cosmetics company. Very influential. She’s capable of wiping everyone out.”
“It’s your own fault,” I’m not going to sit here, so I get out of the car to pick up the suitcase after all.
“I warned you,” the redheaded lady called out to me.
“I am also a victim. It was a long flight! I’m tired, and I want to get to my hotel as quickly as possible!”
“Tourist?” She immediately softens.
“Exactly. So deal with your questions directly with him.”
“Well, then leave me your number. If I need you, I’ll call you.”
Is this your way of getting to know me and getting my number? I don’t understand her. But I don’t mind dictating the number. She wrote it down, and I was sure it was our first and last meeting.
“What’s your name?”
“Vlad.”
“I’m Evelina. It’s very nice to meet you.”
Not so much for me. But I didn’t say anything. I just took my suitcase out of the trunk and walked away from the crash site to call a new cab.
