Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)

Chapter 1552

But it wasn't about clinging to Aubree; it was more about letting her know that she mattered too.

Truth be told, Matthew was pretty self-sufficient. He'd spent most of his life flying solo, moving from place to place, never really learning to lean on anyone.

After dropping off some food for Aubree, he wrapped her in a warm embrace.

"What's up? You look like you've had better days."

Aubree had spent the night tossing and turning, her face giving away her sleepless struggle.

Matthew nestled his face in the crook of her neck, taking in her comforting scent. "I've got to head overseas for a bit. There's a hiccup at work that needs sorting out. Might take a week to get back, and by then, you'll probably be knee-deep in filming. I wonder if Casey would let me swing by the set."

His voice carried a hint of longing.

Mentioning Casey made Aubree's heart skip a beat, a wave of guilt washing over her.

"Maybe it's best if you don't," she replied.

Matthew looked up at her, needing to stoop to keep his head against her. He resembled a big, lovable dog with his gestures.

"Why, you embarrassed by me?"

That hadn't even crossed Aubree's mind until he said it.

But then, with all seriousness, Matthew added, "You do know I'm trying to win you over, right?"

Aubree stiffened, awkwardly looking away.

Letting her go, Matthew said, "Even if I'm on the other side of the world, I'll keep practicing my cooking. And don't forget to eat well while I'm gone."

Just as he finished, his phone buzzed with a reminder to head to the airport.

He lingered at the door, casting one last glance her way, filled with reluctance and affection.

"We won't see each other for a week, Aubree. Can I sneak a kiss before I leave?"

The memory of the previous night with Andrew flashed through Aubree's mind, freezing her in place.

Then Matthew chuckled, "Just messing with you. Go enjoy your meal. I'll bring back something nice for you."

Aubree finally managed to smile as he left.

Once in his car, Matthew dug out Andrew's number from memory. He had a gut feeling Andrew had done something to upset Aubree, judging by her reaction.

Annoyance bubbled within him, wishing Julia would hurry up and whisk Andrew away!

The day after Matthew left, Aubree joined the film crew.

Casey ran a tight ship. On day one, everyone got their room assignment, and the internet was off-limits until filming wrapped up. Whenever Aubree saw Casey, she felt a wave of unease.

Surprisingly, from her first scene, she nailed it.

Thoughts of the vast American plains seemed to elevate her performance, a feeling unlike any she'd experienced before.

It was as if she'd rediscovered her soul.

After the scene, Casey called her out.

In front of everyone, he paused the playback on one of her subtle expressions. "You could refine this a bit more This character represents freedom, defiance, and redemption to the protagonist. When she appears, your expression needs to be more resolute."

Setting the script aside, Casey continued, "I've seen your other films; you've been relying on raw talent rather than pouring your sout into the roles. There's a big difference. Talent can make you a good actor, but acting with your soul makes the audience believe. That's When you become an artist. Many spend their careers as actors without ever becoming true artists."

Aubree's heart raced, her earlier realization solidified by Casey's guidance.noveldrama

"Thank you, Mr. Casey. I get it now," she said, her excitement evident.

But then Casey added, "It's six in the evening. Time for dinner. Matt made me promise to remind you."

Aubree froze, her cheeks flushing with a mix of surprise and embarrassment.

The crew exchanged glances, all aware of the connection between Casey and his son, Matthew.
