Chapter 1239
Aubree leaned back, sinking into her chair. She had thought about lighting up a cigarette, but then she remembered her pregnancy and decided against it.
"That baby's Dustin's, isn't it? Don't even think about lying; it's easy to find out. A quick trip to your hometown would clear everything up."
Emma's hands clenched tightly on her knees, her face paling in an instant.
After a long pause, she finally whispered, "Yes."
Even though Aubree had already suspected it, hearing the confirmation still left her a bit stunned.
Dustin, the notorious playboy, actually had a kid out there?
Her gaze sharpened as she tried to figure out Emma's motives. Was she trying to climb the social ladder using the baby? Hoping the child would one day inherit Infinity Brilliance?
But Emma had cried so bitterly the first time Aubree asked and had denied such intentions. That somewhat reassured Aubree; otherwise, the Lynch family would be in for a mess. "Aubree, if you and Dustin are... involved, could you let me go? I didn't plan this pregnancy. I forgot to be careful, and by the time I realized I was sick, it was too late. I won't interfere with you and Dustin. Once the baby is born, I'll leave Beaconsfield and never see him again."
Emma was trembling, clearly terrified. She felt the humiliation of being caught as 'the other woman' and the shame of her unplanned pregnancy.
Aubree frowned, taking a sip of water from the table.
"Dustin and I aren't involved that way. I've told you before, his sister is my best friend. But don't think I didn't warn you, Dustin's quite the catch in North America, with ex-girlfriends who are stars and supermodels known worldwide. None of them ended up pregnant, and he's always been careful. Unless he was hurt, you'd likely never have crossed paths with him."
Emma wasn't offended by Aubree's bluntness; she knew it was the truth. She breathed a sigh of relief. If Aubree wasn't romantically involved with Dustin, maybe she'd turn a blind eye to the baby?
"Emma, I don't know if he even likes
you, or what he'll think about this baby. I'm honestly stunned. Dustin's wealth is beyond what you could imagine and I don't even know ift should reach out to him. He's not just Beaconsfield's golden boy; he's the CEO of Infinity Brilliance. Look it up, and you'll see the vast world that separates you."
Aubree massaged her temples, her words laden with truth.
The gap between them was enormous; a relationship would only burden Emma.
But Aubree didn't want to be the villain in Emma's story, crushing any hope she might have.
"I'm not even sure if you genuinely like Dustin. To be honest, Mr. Lynch is a catch-attentive and caring, a dream guy as long as you don't fall too hard. But if you do fall for him, it's a disaster." en
"Aubree, I don't want to tell him, and I don't want anything to do with him. That night meant nothing to him. Initially, I wanted to find him, feeling it was unfair to decide the baby's fate alone. But since he doesn't know, the baby is mine alone. I won't harbor any illusions; I promise tonovelbin
stay away. So, could you keep this secret?"
Aubree felt a headache coming on. She really didn't want to get involved in this drama. If these two ended up together, she'd be caught in the middle, looking bad no matter what. But faced with Emma's plea, she couldn't refuse.
"I won't spill the beans to him, but you need to be prepared. He'll come to Beaconsfield eventually, and you will run into him."
Emma's face lit up with gratitude.
"I'll keep my distance."
