“Good morning boss.” The receptionist greeted as April walked by.
April didn’t nod or do anything to show she was the one being addressed and it was fine with the employees.
They were used to her cold and snobby attitude.
Truth be told, she was very beautiful, but she was overly pampered by her Dad and that made her a pure snub.
She considered less privileged individuals as pure filth.
April was about to pass her secretary’s desk before she remembered something and turned to look at her.
“Is Justin here yet?” April asked.
“Yes, miss.” The receptionist replied.
“Where’s he at?”
“He’s at the cafeteria making your coffee.” The receptionist answered politely.
“OK. Tell him to see me in my office as soon as possible.” April instructed.
“Yes, miss.” The receptionist answered and Alexa trotted on.
“Good morning Miss Green.” Some people greeted together and April looked at where that was coming from.
The greetings were coming from the department where they mixed materials used to make lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip balms that would later go to the ‘makeup department’ where they’d be refined and made into the lip products we all know of.
April smiled.
It was a smile of satisfaction.
They were already in their makeup coats and had started mixing the new color materials they were set to launch in a few weeks.
She walked to her private elevator and got in.
She walked to the seat and sat on it.
Placing her bag on the makeup desk in front of the seat, she faced the mirror.
Why would an elevator have a seat and makeup desk?
Well, it was a cosmetic company, and April loved makeup.
So whenever she forgot to apply makeup (which was rare), or her makeup thinned already, all she had to do was get in her elevator, and ding!
Her makeup would be taken care of.
April noticed her lipstick wasn’t as much as before, so she picked a matching matte lipstick with the matte color on her lips from the makeup desk and applied it gently to her lips.
“Muah.” She said.
“It’s indeed perfect.” She complimented the color on her lips.
Next up, she picked up a makeup powder and dabbed it on her already made-up face to make it thicker.
In case you didn’t know, April loved thick makeup.
Ding!
The elevator dinged.
Alexa looked at the door and noticed she had gotten to her floor.
She closed the makeup powder and dropped it on the desk.
Standing up, she walked to the door, pushed the ‘open’ button, and walked out.
As soon as April got out of the elevator, she walked straight ahead and by her right, there was her secretary’s desk and her secretary on it.
April’s office was on the left, right opposite her secretary’s desk and she walked towards it.
Her secretary, Sharon stood up from her desk seat and waited till April got nearer before greeting her.
“Good morning miss.” Sharon greeted April.
“What time is it?” April asked and turned to the left, verifying her thumb fingerprint, her eyes, and her voice.
After verifying these three things, her office unlocked and she went in.
When Sharon was sure speaking wouldn’t make the unlocking process denied, she spoke following April closely behind.
“It’s 15 minutes after 11 am Miss.”
“Great.” April said, handed Sharon her purse and the latter hung it on her ‘private stuff’ shelf.
“So anything to do today?” April asked once more as she took her seat on the black swivel chair behind her big giant oak desk.
Bringing out the pear pad (like an iPad, Just that this one was a pear, not an apple.), Sharon clicked on the NOTES app and checked the list of things April was to do.
“You have an appointment with Mr. Lee from Lee Enterprises concerning a partnership with Green wears, which you’re currently managing by 11:35 am, which is 18 minutes from now.”
At the hearing of Green wears, April’s lips curved in a smile.
She had gotten that subdivision of Green company under her and it felt good.
“Anything else?” April asked as she shook her earlier thoughts away.
“After that, you have a meeting with Mrs. Parker to check out the wrappings for the cosmetics we’re set to launch in about two weeks,” Sharon said again.
“This afternoon by 12:40.” She added.
“OK… OK. What next?” April asked.
“After that is the public function you and Mr. Williams are to attend together as a couple in the evening by 6 pm,” Sharon replied.
April’s mood changed and her lips twitched.
She didn’t fancy the idea of going to a function with Williams as her date.
He wasn’t a bad person, she just didn’t fancy him.
He wasn’t her type.
No!
Don’t get me wrong.
He was rich, and from her class, but he wasn’t her choice of a man.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
Williams was all her dad’s idea and she didn’t like it one bit.
“Miss, are you OK?” Sharon asked in concern.
“Yeah, I am,” April replied.
“Why would you ask that anyway?” April asked.
“You suddenly blanked out,” Sharon said.
“Oh…” April made her lips into a small O.
“If that’s all, you can return to your desk.”
“OK miss,” Sharon replied and she was about to take a step towards the door when the door opened.
A figure walked in with a smile and April looked at him in disgust.
“Where have you been?” April shot at him.
Sharon took this as a cue to leave, and she did.
“Downstairs, making your coffee.” The guy replied.
“For over half an hour. I see you don’t like your job again.”
“Come on, I do.” The guy answered.
“Wow, Justin. Wow.”
“What’s it?” Justin asked.
“Me being benevolent and giving you a job as my PA doesn’t give you the right to talk to me casually,” April stated.
“What about… You know?” Justin said and winked at her.
“Last night?” He completed.
