Madam, Your Ex-Husband Is On Call

Chapter 118

Chapter 118

Chapter 118 You Are Free Now

Jaxon cleared his throat, hesitating before he said, "I fear if Mr. Patterson learns about this, he might

side with Beatrice, and then there'd be no one left to protect you."

Anastasia pondered over his words, "No one left to protect you."

She then remembered how Christian had never truly sided with her.

But she didn't need him to be.

Her gaze was steady as she looked at him and said, "This must stay between us. I'll handle it myself."

"Do you need my help?" He offered.

"No need," she replied.

Jaxon was about to say something, but the sound of someone else at the door interrupted him.

Christian then walked in, and his face darkened instantly upon seeing Jaxon.

"You're still here?" Christian questioned.

Jaxon sat there with his hands crossed, his demeanor calm and detached.

"If you can be here, Mr. Patterson, why can't I?" he retorted.

There were bruises on Christian's face as well.

With a slight frown, Anastasia quickly deduced that these two had been in a fight.

She acted as if she didn't notice. Instead, she turned to Jaxon and said, "Mr. Stanford, you can go back

first and get some rest. You've worked hard these past two days. I appreciate you telling me all this."

Jaxon must have put much thought and energy into quickly discovering all this information.

Jaxon, smiling and with a demeanor of aloof nobility, nodded. He then adjusted her blanket and softly

said, "Rest well. I'll come to see you later."

Anastasia responded with a nod.

When Jaxon walked to the door, his gaze turned icy as he glanced at Christian with a faint smile tugged

at the corner of his lips.

Though initially, Christian had been infuriated by his presence, the moment Anastasia told Jaxon to go

home, Christian's mood brightened instantly.

He mused, "I've moved her deeply. I bet she has a lot of sweet words she wants to say to me."

Christian walked in, his usually stern face softened slightly. He looked at her tenderly and said, "You

can say whatever you want. It's just the two of us now. I understand you're upset.

"But you must see now, when the chips are down, it's me you can count on. The stand-in has run off to

who knows where.

"He even dares to show his face now and take credit for this. He's not a good sort. Stay away from

him."

With a gentle lift of her head, Anastasia looked up. Her bare face couldn't disguise her stunning, vivid

features. Her eyes gleaming and deep, were emotionless as they turned to him.

She smirked slightly and chuckled. "Indeed, I'm quite thankful you came to my rescue..."All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.

Christian's features softened, and he interjected her with a smile, "Enough, I'll do the talking from here.

I am the man, after all.

"I know you're deeply touched, and you can't wait to commit yourself again, be my wife again, and work

on our marriage.

"Let me tell you, I agree. We can start over as if nothing in the past ever happened, and we don't need

to mention it again."

He had set everything up perfectly, offering her respect and a way out.

Christian thought that there was no way she could not accept.

After all, they were husband and wife. Everything he had failed to give her in the past three years, he

would make up to her.

Once he finished speaking, he looked at her, anticipating a nod of agreement.

All Anastasia did instead was quietly stared at him without saying a word.

Christian's face slowly started changing subtly, his brows furrowing as he gazed at her. He said

solemnly, "Anastasia, I'm giving you a chance here. Let's get back together, and I'll give you everything

you desire."

However, there was no sign of surprise or emotion on Anastasia's face, as he had expected.

Instead, she remained eerily calm.

A sinking feeling enveloped his heart as if something unpleasant was about to occur.

Anastasia looked at him with an icy, gleaming gaze, her voice without any noticeable fluctuation.

"How can we pretend as if the past didn't happen? Self-deception is not a good habit."

His expression instantly darkened slightly at her words.

Anastasia drew a deep breath, glanced out the window, and spoke slowly, "You owed me a life. Now it's

repaid. We're even. Christian, I forgive you for abandoning our child. You're free now."
