Loved You Once But He's My Forever (Chloe)

Chapter 502 This Child Doesn't Look Like Sergio

Even though his face was unclear, I had a strong feeling he was someone significant to me.

Without hesitation, I ran after him, chasing him to the edge of a cliff. His back remained turned toward me. "Wait! Don't leave!"

But he didn't stop or even glance back. Instead, he leaped into the abyss, vanishing before I could even touch him.

"Carl!"

My eyes flew open as I awoke from the dream. The soft glow from the bedside lamp barely pushed back the darkness, yet a chill ran down my spine as I sat up.noveldrama

A shadowy figure stood near my bed. "Are you okay? Did you have a nightmare?"

It was Sergio. His face came into focus as I stared at him, momentarily dazed.

He wore a white shirt, just like the man in my dream. But I knew-it wasn't him. Their eyes were

completely different.

"What did you dream about?" he asked, lowering his gaze slightly as if trying to read me.

"It was a man. I couldn't see his face, but I knew he was important to me. Dr. Zimmer, before my rebirth, was there anyone like that in my life?"

"Chloe, you were already 28 before you were reborn. You worked in the company and interacted with many people. I wouldn't know who you mean. Do you remember his name?"

"His name is..."

The words caught in my throat. Though it felt so familiar, I couldn't say it. I had even forgotten what he looked like.

"I ... don't remember."

"Then we can do nothing," Sergio said calmly. "What's most important is the present. The past is behind us. If you've forgotten someone, they probably weren't that important."

But inwardly, I didn't think so.

If that man wasn't important, why did I dream of him instead of Luke, who had been by my side since childhood?

"Don't dwell on it too much. It's still early-try to get some rest. We can talk about it later."

"Alright."

I lay back down, feeling my unborn children move as if responding to my emotions. Gently, I placed a hand over my belly, trying to soothe them.

I wasn't sure how other expectant mothers felt, but my little ones had been calm and well-behaved so far.

I thought about the upcoming 4D ultrasound. Soon, I'd be able to see them properly for the first time. One of the villa's rooms had been set up as an examination space, where the doctor conducted a thorough check-up.

During the ultrasound, a large screen displayed live images of the babies inside me.

The moment I saw them, my heart melted.

Both were curled up in my womb. One was peacefully sleeping.

The doctor pointed at the screen. "Ma'am, this is your daughter. Look how calm she is. She's the spitting image of you."

Her skin wasn't visible in detail, but her facial features were clear. Her nose and the shape of her face closely resembled mine.

She lay quietly, only occasionally pursing her lips.

As if sensing my gaze, she suddenly moved and smiled, her little mouth curving upwards. She looked like she would be a cheerful child.

I could hardly wait to hold her in my arms.

The probe shifted again, moving past their tiny limbs until it revealed the boy's face.

"Ma'am, this is your son. Look at his features-he looks just like..."

The doctor hesitated before finishing her sentence. "He looks like his father."

I saw it clearly. My son didn't look like me. But he didn't resemble Sergio either.

Though I couldn't make out every small detail, my son's facial

structure was well-defined and\

refined, carrying a faintly mixed-race appearance.

The doctor hesitated for a moment, her expression uneasy as she glanced at Sergio. However, he remained composed, simply leaning down to speak softly, "See? Both children are growing well."

"Yes, they're in good health. Ma'am, be sure to take care of yourself and attend your check-ups regularly." "Thank you, doctor. Can I save the videos of my babies?"

Since I couldn't have ultrasounds daily, I wanted to be able to watch them whenever I missed them.

"You can," she confirmed but cast another look at Sergio. "But there's no internet here..."

"I'll take care of it later," he assured.

I nodded. Before I could wipe the gel off my belly, Sergio had already brought over a warm towel, gently cleaning it for me.

Something about it felt off. Despite being husband and wife, I found myself instinctively pulling away whenever he got close.

Instead of letting him continue, I reached for my clothes, prepared to ignore the residue.

"It's okay, Chloe," he murmured. "With your belly this big, it's hard to move around. Let me help."

Realizing I was overreacting, I reluctantly agreed. "Alright."

Once he finished, he helped me sit up and smoothed down my clothes.

"Let's take a walk in the yard," he suggested. "You won't feel relaxed in the later stages."

"Okay."

I gently pulled my hand from his. "I'm fine. I can walk by myself."

Taking the lead, I stepped forward, avoiding his gaze.

I didn't understand it. He was considerate, more attentive than most husbands, and never looked at anyone else the way he looked at me. Yet, I couldn't bring myself to connect with him. Even my body rejected the idea.

To me, he wasn't a husband-he felt more like a psychologist.

As I walked, the distant hum of helicopter blades broke the quiet.

With the sea surrounding it and no nearby islands, it was clear where the aircraft was heading.

The realization hit me someone from the outside world was coming.

Even though I was aware of the possible threats beyond the island, the desire to leave still lingered.

It felt like someone was out there, waiting for me.

I couldn't help but wish for someone to come and take me away.

Who could be arriving?
