Imprisoned
Imprisoned
( STEPHEN'S POV ) At the police station. I sat in the cell with gritted teeth. Soon.... Soon, I would be released. It was funny how Quinn could have the heart to imprison me. "After all our friendship..." I clicked my tongue. I would show them.... All of them.... I couldn't imagine how they could.... God.... A sound at the cell door made me raise my head. As I did, my gaze met with that of my godfather. Brendon King... "Someone is here to see you." The policeman that I hated the most said. I got up gently, and was led out by the policeman. As the three of us walked over to a room, I wondered why Brendon had come all the way to my cell. What had taken him so long to visit? Brendon calmly sat on one of the chairs amongst the two in the room. Stephen sat opposite him without a word. Both of them engaged in an eye glaring contest for some minutes. Then Brendon cleared his throat, "Is that how you welcome your godfather?" He tapped his walking stick on the floor gently. Stephen remained mute. He looked at him as if he was a stranger. "Why are you staring at me like that?" Brendon's voice was sharp. "Why? First of all, I don't remember having a godfather... I never had one. So, what are you saying about having a godfather?" Stephen hardened his voice as he asked. This so-called godfather of his left him in prison for three months. He didn't even make a move when he was apprehended. And now, he had the nerve to show up before him, claiming the title of his godfather? "Don't you dare talk back at me like that, Stephen!" Brendon sprang up in anger.
"I don't think you are close enough to me, to drop honorifics when addressing me, Mr Brendon." Stephen said calmly. Brendon watched him calmly and sneered, "You must think that you are in the right, don't you?" Brendon continued tapping his walking stick on the floor. "I'm I not?" Stephen retorted. "You kidnapped a little girl. You are a fool, you know that right?" Brendon continued calmly. "And so what? What if I did?" Stephen asked casually. "You jerk!" Brendon raised his walking stick to hit him, but lowered it on second thoughts. As he said, Stephen no longer regarded him as his godfather. "Well, I pray you never get out of here. The nerve to kidnap the little princess of the Stones family!" Brendon got up calmly. "And I pray you die a horrible death." Stephen retorted. "Are you cursing at me?" Brendon was livid. "You can see it as whatever you want." Stephen remained calm. Brendon looked at him for a while, and walked out of the room in anger. ===================== The Stones Residence. Raphael was in his study, when a maid knocked at the door from outside, "Master... Someone is here to see you." Her head remained bowed even though Raphael couldn't see her. "Tell the person to wait downstairs. I will be down, soon." Raphael's clear voice floated across the door. "Yes, Master Raphael." She habitually bowed and went downstairs. "He said he would be down in a moment." The maid reported. She then went into the Kitchen to make a cup of coffee for the guest. Brendon looked around the living room. It had already been months since he last visited. "And who do we have here?" Raphael's voice boomed as he walked downstairs.
Brendon smiled as he stood up. Raphael shook hands with him, "I see your face at last, Brendon." He smiled as both of them sat down. "You must forgive me, Raphael. You should know the reason behind my silence all this while." Brendon shook his head awkwardly. "I know. And that's why I didn't make things hard for you. It was his fault and not yours." Raphael smiled. "I visited him at the station today." Brendon said after a while. "And what did he say?" Raphael asked. The maid came into the living room at that moment. She placed the tray containing two cups of coffee, bowed and walked out again. "I don't want to think about it. To think that I took him as my godson for years..." Brendon shook his head in regrets. "And what about his parents?" Raphael chuckled. He thought it weird that ever since Stephen had been apprehended, none of his family member had said a word. They hadn't come forward at all. "You know very well if he has parents or not." Brendon extended his hand, and carried a cup of coffee from the table. He blew at it gently and took a sip. Then he cleared his throat out of habit. "Let's set the matter aside. How have you been?" Raphael asked with a chuckle. "Well, I've been well. I've been visiting the clubs and all that. You have forgotten about us, haven't you?" Brendon teased. "It isn't really like that. I didn't... It's just that, I've been quite stressed out this past few months." Raphael sighed. The clubs which Brendon was talking about wasn't an average club. It was the club of the influential. All of them gathered there once in a while, and chatted over a couple of drinks. They even played snooker games, and chess. NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.
"I know. But you need to chill out a bit, don't you think?" Brendon took another sip of the coffee. "I will..." Raphael nodded. They continued chatting for a while... "Finally, Brendon. We thought you totally disappeared." They heard a chuckle behind them. Without turning, both of them knew who it was... "Lily... I'm really sorry about that." Brendon smiled at the woman who walked into the living room at that moment. "There's really nothing to apologize for." Lily chuckled. She took her seat beside her husband, as she smiled. "If you say so then. I guess I've been forgiven then." Brendon chuckled. "You weren't in the wrong, in the first place." Raphael shook his head.
