Chapter 13: My Family Name has been Changed
Chapter 13: My Family Name has been Changed
In the Wonfo Hotel, Lukas was talking business with Harris when his cellphone on the desk rang.
Harris handed it to Lukas. “Boss, it’s Master.”
Lukas didn’t stop scribbling on the paper.
He said emotionlessly, “On speaker.”
Harris accepted the call and put it on speaker. Here came Master’s voice.
“Lukas, Where’s my granddaughter?”
“I’m busy.”
“Nothing can be before my meeting with granddaughter. Hurry up and take her to me. I want to see her
now.”
His tone was demanding and undeniable.
But Lukas didn’t give it a shit.
He looked at the files in his hand, saying, “I’ll send you a photo of her later. Enjoy yourself.”
Master was dumbfounded for a split second before yelling, “You son of a bitch! I will see her tomorrow.”
“No.” Lukas insisted.
“Lukas, I don’t have much time in the world. Can’t you help me make my last wish come true? How
poor of me!”
Master intended to persuade him by emotional appeal.
Harris was awkward enough to rub his forehead as he could picture Master’s coy pouting.
Lukas dropped his pen and his files, saying coldly, “I’ll take her to you soon.”
“How soon? I…”
Lukas had ended the call before Master could finish his words.
He looked out of the French window, finding outside was raining heavily.
His sapphire eyes flashed with worry. Then he took out a pink handbag from his drawer and marched
out.
“Boss, where are you going? It’s raining outside.”
Harris scurried to follow up his boss.
Lukas’ sexy lips curved. “Find her and hand her the file.”
After Master’s disturbing, he couldn’t focus on his work.
She must be hurt by Charlotte’s dirty tricks. Maybe she had been kicked out of Sharp family.
He would take her girl back to her home.
Following behind Lukas, Harris spent a while before he could realize the “her” was Spencer.
Give her the file? Boss would take her home.
Crap! Why didn’t Lukas just tell him her name?
He rushed to his room and carried the file with him, then hurried to follow Lukas.
--
Spencer rushed into the pavilion and put her suitcase aside.
She was soaked as the ruin coming down on her was too fast.
Looking around, all the seats were wet with rain.
She took off her high-heels after finding a corner without rain, and she sat there, not minding the dirt.
Glaring at her high-heels, she rubbed her ankles.
Her feet hurt after running in them.
The blame was on the shoes’ owner. If it hadn’t been for him, she wouldn’t have to suffer this.
However, she was lucky enough to come across a gay.
Or she’d lose her virtue.
She had no idea where to go if the rain stopped.
She had too much on her mind and she had to sort it out.
She rested her back against a pillar and closed her eyes.
Everything had changed in a night. Her so-called family were liars.
It turned out they didn’t take her as their family member at all.
They not only grabbed her shares, two penthouses and 800,000 dollars, but also kicked her out of
Sharp family, urging her to change her family name.
Which family name could she use?
Grandpa told her that when she was adopted, there was a Hetian jade with her.
She asked grandpa about her parents, but he said he had no idea about them.
Now she was abandoned by both her own parents and Sharp family.
Then she didn’t need any family name, as her full name would be Spence.
Spence.
It reminded her of the man last night she met. He just called her “Spence”.
He was the first man calling her “Spence”.
“It’s so cold.”
Goosebumps traveled across her skin as a cold wind scratched her.
She stood up and looked outside, finding the rain was getting heavier.
She was upset, not knowing what to do.
She left Sharp family without a penny with her. She did have a little savings from her job, but her bank
cards and cash were all in her handbag which she left in the hotel last night.
She was penniless and had no place to live in.
She didn’t have the gut to take her handbag away.
Wait! The cellphone!
It occurred to her that she took a taxi by Uber.
There was money left in her Uber account.
She quickly dialed a number.
But her phone showed the power of her phone was running out.
She was scared. Once the call was accepted, she hastily said, “Annie, I’ll live with you for a couple
days, come and pick me up.”
Annie just woke up, putting Spencer on speaker.
She felt something was wrong as she heard the sound of raining.
She instantly became sane and asked Spencer, “Spencer, what happened? where’re you now? I’ll go
to find you.”
“I’m in the pavilion in the garden, in front of my house.”
After saying that she taunted herself. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
It wasn’t her house but the Sharp family’s.
“Hello, Annie, Annie, did you hear me?”
There was no reply. She didn’t find her cellphone had powered off until she looked at the screen to
check over.
She sighed, not knowing if Annie got her location.
She had tried her best to compete with the time.
Here came another blow of cold wind, making her shivering.
She hastily opened her suitcase to find her coat.
The Sharp family was supposed to give her some clothes, though they hated her.
However, she was shocked as she opened the suitcase.
It was empty!
Why did they give her an empty one? For the show?
No wonder she felt it was too light.
But at that time, she wasn’t in the mood to check over her suitcase.
She had lost all her hope in Sharp family as they’d never been her family.
Wet and cold, she sat back in the corner, hugging herself tightly.
She believed Annie would come to her rescue.
Gradually, she fell asleep.
Then there came a car light and the sound of car horn.
Spencer wasn’t in her deep sleep, and she was startled to wake up.
She found an auto parking in front of the pavilion. A tall man standing beside the car, and a shorter
man was holding an umbrella for him.
Why did they look so familiar?
She had passed out before she could recognize them.
She could vaguely hear a voice calling her “Spence”.
