Chapter 541 You’re My Ray of Light
Chapter 541 You’re My Ray of Light
Back at the university, Clarissa told Damien and Neil to go eat.
“Don’t stay out too late, and don’t waste your time on unnecessary things,” Damien said coldly.
“Yeah, I got it.” Clarissa could now tell how scheming Chanel was. In fact, perhaps Chanel had been Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
the one to spread the love letters in the first place so the whole university would know about her and
Damien’s history and link them together. This way, everyone at the university would think badly of
Clarissa. Even though she and Damien had met each other much later, it wouldn’t be surprising if
someone were to say that Clarissa had snatched Damien away from his high school sweetheart.
Despite her not doing anything wrong, it wouldn’t change people’s impression of her.
If Clarissa and Chanel got into any conflict, everyone would probably be on Chanel’s side.
Clarissa followed Chanel back to the latter’s home.
Though Chanel said that it was fine, Clarissa insisted. She wanted to make sure Chanel was safe.
Clarissa saw that Chanel’s home was a complete mess. There was a box full of love letters.
“Clarissa, do you think I’m a joke?” Chanel’s eyes were still red and puffy. As she tidied the mess up, a
bitter smile crept onto her face. “I don’t even know how I could’ve loved someone so deeply back then.
I just really, really liked him. I’m sorry you had to see all this.”
“It’s fine.” Clarissa glanced at the love letters, and one sentence caught her eye. “You’re my ray of light,
and it’s only with you around that I know how wonderful life can be.”
“He returned all these love letters to me, and I fell in love with my husband later on. This is all in the
past, and I never would’ve expected Logan to dig these up.”
Clarissa didn’t say anything. Though she didn’t know Damien at that time, she still felt extremely
uncomfortable at the thought of a woman calling him her ray of light.
“Have you eaten already?” she asked Chanel. “Shall I make you something to eat?”
She went to the kitchen.
As she watched the water boil, she couldn’t help feeling that Chanel had pulled a fast one on her. She
didn’t feel the relief of having saved Chanel from the brink of death.
Clarissa’s phone chimed as she watched Chanel eat. It was a message from Joseph.
It had been a long time since they had last contacted each other. Her heart warmed at the thought of
him being the mystery guest at the financial summit, as well as the huge hug he’d given her.
There was no chance of her and Joseph ever being together, but they could still be friends.
Joseph: [Clarissa, I’m getting married this Saturday.]
Clarissa: [Who’s the bride?]
Joseph: [Penelope Henderson. Do you still remember her? Can you make it for the ceremony?]
Clarissa thought about it. Penelope had always been hostile to her. If she went, she’d probably upset
everyone present. It wouldn’t be nice to disrupt their wedding.
Clarissa: [I’m really busy with my classes, and I doubt I’ll be able to squeeze out any time. I’ll make
sure to prepare a gift for you, though!]
Joseph had already expected her to turn him down. With the way Penelope had treated her before, if
he were in Clarissa’s shoes, there was no way he would attend.
Clarissa couldn’t help but lament the passage of time as she put her phone down. It was probable that
Joseph didn’t even like Penelope that much, but from a business perspective, it was a smart move.
“What’s wrong?” Chanel asked when she saw Clarissa sighing.
“A friend of mine is getting married,” Clarissa said absent-mindedly.
“Oh? Who is it? Do I know them?”
“No, you don’t. His name’s Joseph Moore. He’s a friend from Genovia.”
“Oh, I see.” Chanel continued eating. She looked as if she had thrown the topic to the back of her mind,
but in truth, the gears in her mind were whirring rapidly. Joseph Moore? How was he related to Frank
Moore?
