Letting Go of Me Is Your Greatest Mistake in Life Novel by Tinkling

Chapter 14

Since I died from an illness, the hospital already had a report. So the autopsy results. came out quickly.

The moment Hudson got the autopsy results, he broke down in tears. It seemed like he couldn’t accept it.

“It’s my fault. I let Hailey down. I know I was wrong. Hailey, can you forgive me? Please come back. I really know I was wrong,” Hudson cried, kneeling in front of my body.

Eva stood calmly to the side, holding Leah. Then she looked at my body and mocked me.

“See? I told you he wasn’t worth it. You didn’t believe me. You had to give up your life to realize it. You’re the most brainless person in the world,” Eva said.

Leah covered Eva’s mouth.Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

“Eva, you can’t say that about Mommy. I will get mad,” Leah said.

A tear fell onto Leah’s hand. When Leah looked up again, Eva’s face was already covered in tears.

My funeral was simple. Eva organized it with only a few relatives and friends. My parents had passed away in a car accident a year ago.

After the burial, it started to drizzle. Leah curled up in Eva’s arms, looking at my tombstone. She asked softly, “Eva, is Mommy really dead? Will she sleep here forever?”

Eva tightened her hold on Leah and nodded.

“Yes, she is sleeping here. We can’t disturb her. Whenever we miss her, we can come visit her,” Eva said.

Leah nodded, not fully understanding. Then she looked at Eva.

“Then, will you be my mommy from now on? Leah asked innocently.

Hearing Leah’s words, Eva’s eyes reddened. She hugged Leah tightly and nodded firmly.

When we were young, we promised that each other’s child would be our own. We would take care of and love them for a lifetime.

I broke that promise, but she still remembered.

Hudson knelt in the rain in front of my grave refusing to get up.

Eva walked over and threw a stack of papers at him.

“Take a good look. These are all of Ayla’s records. Open your eyes and see what kind of woman you threw away Hailey’s true love for Eva said harshly.

After saying that, Eva took Leah and left.

Hudson opened the folder. Inside were page after page of Ayla’s past records.

It turned out Ayla wasn’t forced to marry the wealthy businessman. She volunteered for the riches and glory.

But the good times didn’t last. The businessman soon grew tired of her, cheating with other women and cutting off her credit.

Ayla couldn’t stand that life anymore. She reported the businessman’s illegal activities, leading to his arrest, and that’s how she escaped and returned.

After returning to the country and seeing Hudson’s success, she schemed and lied, tricking Hudson into willingly sacrificing everything for her.

Hudson knelt on the ground in despair, letting the rain pour down on him.

“Hailey, I was wrong. I should have believed you. I let you down. I really know I was wrong. Can you forgive me?” Hudson cried out.

I looked at Hudson’s pathetic state and scoffed coldly.

“You’re only upset now because you can’t accept that Ayla was a lie. If you had even considered trusting me, you would have tried to verify Ayla’s words from the start. But you didn’t. Not even once.

“You used Ayla to reclaim your trampled pride from your youth, again and again. Hudson, you really disgust me,” I added.

After that, Hudson seemed like a changed man. He shut himself in the room where I died, refusing to eat or drink.

Hudson cut off his support for Ayla and her daughter. Ayla, who was used to a lavish lifestyle, couldn’t accept it and went to find him.

Hudson told her to get lost and even took back the house she was living in.

Desperate, Ayla tried to seduce other men. This time, she wasn’t so lucky and got caught and beaten.

Ayla’s husband from abroad was released from prison. After finding out where she was, he had her and her daughter forcibly taken away. I heard their lives became al living hell.

Hudson sold his company and transferred all his assets to Leah’s name.

On a sunny day, Hudson sat alone in the master bedroom, holding the family photo, and swallowed some pills.

Unfortunately, he didn’t die.

Eva called the police.

Hudson sobbed and asked Eva, “Why didn’t you let me die? I want to be with Hailey. I want to beg for her forgiveness.”

Eva held Leah and looked at him with disdain.

“You don’t deserve to see Hailey. You should live with regret and pain for the rest of your life,” she said coldly.

Hudson knelt on the ground, burying his head in despair as he cried.

Eva took Leah and moved to another city. She never remarried and raised Leah on her own.

When people asked her why she never found someone to marry, she always smiled.

“I had a friend who was really foolish. She wasted her life on a man. I don’t want to be like her. I just want to live for myself in this life,” she said.

Not far away, Leah ran toward her with a smile.

“Mommy,” Leah called out.

Seeing this, I think I can finally leave in peace.

Later on, I heard that a madman often appeared in front of my grave. He didn’t do anything but kneel there, telling anyone who passed by, “My wife is sleeping. Don’t disturb her.”

The End.
