Chapter 105
Chapter 105
Chapter 105 Alex’s POV I was glad to be back home, in our new house, spending some time together after the past few days had been so wild… We left Dels late last night, after having began the process of pulling all of our evidence into a file against Clara. Clara was now a growing problem, since despite my threats, she seemed to always come back for more! Jace and Anna stayed over at Dels again last night, keeping him company, as Kev soon joined them too – which meant that Lottie and I could sneak back home for a night – guilt free! During the process of trying to collaborate all of our evidence, I had even given Ben and Landon another call myself this time, firstly thanking them for their time and honesty when talking with the girls. They where both more than eager to help us out, which I appreciated, knowing that we would be much stronger in numbers with our cases against Clara now. They both also seemed to find great comfort when finding out that Del, a strong guy like them, had also landed himself in their previous shoes. I get it, it takes a lot for a guy with a strong reputation to admit to anyone that his girl abuses him behind closed doors… The other two guys that Anna had messaged on Instagram, where yet to respond to her, but I planned on contacting them both personally later today… With that thought in mind, Anna managed to also get Amy’s number from a guy that Amy had once dated, but when I called the number – she unfortunately didn’t pick up. Instead, I left her a brief voicemail, being cautious with my words in hopes that the girl would come to her senses eventually and would opt to help us out in this mess… but we couldn’t get our hopes up too much… she was Clara’s friend at the end of the day! Johnson, our lawyer, also took the job of contacting the hospital in order to request any security footage. from the day Clara had visited Del and was escorted off of the premises. After much back and forth, Mr Johnson concluded that it was a success and that they would have the footage emailed over to us as soon as possible. So far, we already had pictures of all of Dels injuries – conflicted, first hand, by Clara herself. On top of this, we now had statements and evidence provided from the other two guys about how she had treated them in the past, followed by clear video footage from Dels place and the hospital of her acting out, along with the numerous abusive texts and pictures of the false pregnancy that she had sent him 1/4 Chapter 105 directly from her phone! She won’t get away with any of this… she can’t… not now! I smirk in sudden triumph, glad that Del had been agreeable to pursue legal action against her regardless of if that meant he would have to admit to his own mistakes along the way. He was taking the right steps in order to protect his own sanity! Lottie was currently asleep, as it was only seven in the morning, meanwhile I currently paced back and forth across my home office floor now deep in thought. In a twisted, f**d up way, I was glad that Lottie had been engrossed and distracted by Del and Clara’s recent nightmare… as opposed to worrying about her own! Lottie was still, very much so, In danger herself. Her own mother, of all people on this earth, even had a hand in tormenting her too now – just when we were convinced things couldn’t get any worse they had. Just as I was lost in my thoughts, my phone rang out loudly, and I quickly answered it. It was Zack, one of my guys who had been helping keep tabs on Lottie’s mother. “Hey, Zack. What’s your update?” I ask, hoping that he had some useful information to share. “Boss, we found her. Lottie’s mom is still living in her old town, working as a receptionist at the local police station down here. And get this… she’s even been seen leaving with the same cop regularly.
They go home together!” Zack informs me, his voice serious as I absorb the information. Maybe that could be the same cop that Freddie said he thought was snooping around in his pub asking about Lottie? 2 “We’ve been keeping a close eye on her, and she hasn’t made any trips to Westerfield at all recently either. It seems she’s preoccupied with her own life down here. If she’s writing those letters, it seems that she must be posting them Alex as opposed to hand delivering? Although, we haven’t seen her post anything yet down here either.” Zack continues, as I listen to him intently. Perhaps it is still too early to know? How often did the letters come? Was it weekly, fortnightly? It was a detail in which I would have to confirm with Anna and Lottie to help figure out the senders patterns. “Maybe she doesn’t have to post them… maybe someone else is involved with her? Someone closer to this town? For all we know, her mother is only the one telling them what to write!” I speak my thoughts into the phone, as Zack hums on them. “We can’t rule anything out yet! Do me a favour Zack, and hack into her cell phone and find out who she’s in contact with regularly besides Tommy! That might help determine if she’s working alone or 2/4 Chapter 105 not.” I instruct, my mind already racing despite the day only beginning. “Sure thing! I’ll have the list of contacts sent over as soon as possible! It might take us a day or two though.” Zack states, as I rub my stubbled chin and sigh. I hate waiting for shit! But it has to be done… “Thanks, Zack. I appreciate the new information. Keep an eye on her for a while longer, but be careful not to let her know that you’re onto her. We don’t want to escalate this situation any further! I’ll make contact when the time is right!” I instruct sternly, trying to remain calm despite my emotions feeling all over the place. “Understood, Boss. We’ll continue to monitor the situation discreetly,” Zack confirms, as I smile at his commitment to the cause.
Ending the call, I take a slow, deep breath, and try to gather my thoughts. I needed to figure out how to approach this delicate situation with Lottie… since it is her own twisted mother we are dealing with after all. Revealing anymore information to her regarding her mother would be incredibly difficult, and I didn’t want to cause her any more pain or upset. Maybe it’s best that she doesn’t know any more details as of just yet… it’s for the best…. With that, I sigh, checking my watch to see that the time was crawling by at a snails pace. I decide to head back down the hallway towards our bedroom, forcing myself to catch another quick nap before properly waking up to tackle the day ahead.” As I enter, Lottie remains fast asleep, beautiful, peaceful and unbothered as she breathes steadily in and out… This is all I wanted for her. All I wanted was to help build her a new, a better life and happier memories. to cherish. The poor thing doesn’t seem to catch a break… but I wouldn’t rest until she does! I climb back into my side of the bed, causing her to stir slightly as she mumbles incoherently in her sleep before stilling again unfazed. – 1 shuffle closer to her, wrapping an arm around her waist – tucking her into my stomach firmly as I enjoy the warmth and comfort she brings me. This here, was what I lived and breathed for now. This small broken girl had waltzed in to my life and had shook up my whole world… all for the better. Despite the rollercoaster I had embarked on with her, I wouldn’t change it for the world!!
