Chapter 5
Chapter 5
The way back to the cabin was quiet and uneventful. Lucas ran next to me the whole way, but he didn't
try to start a conversation, he probably realized I didn't feel like talking.
Is life even worth living in a world like this? Everyone I cared about seemed to be gone.
I walked into the house again, not greeting anyone. I just dropped the backpack at the floor and walked
upstairs and say down in the guest room Lucas carried me too earlier.
I sat down in the corner of the room and brought my knees to my chin.
I rested my forehead against my knees and I once again felt warm tears leaving my eyes.
Just a minute later, I heard someone knock on the door.
I didn't answer or bother to look up, but the person opened the door and walked in anyways.
I was expecting the person to speak, but instead he or she only sat down next to me.
I glanced over at the person and saw that it was Lucas. I didn't know why, but it made me happy.
He was looking at me with piercing green eyes. They were filled with worry and confusion.
I sat up with my legs in front of me instead and leaned against the wall.
I used the sleeve on my shirt to dry my face from all the tears.
I looked up at him with big eyes and he tilted his head.
"Uhm... Here's your gun. Kylie tried to take it, but I told her it was yours" He handed me the gun and I
smiled slightly.
"Who's Kylie? I can't remember" Everyone said their names earlier today, when we were on our way to
this cabin, but we were over 30 people and my memory wasn't the best.
"The girl with short brown hair" He said and I clenched my jaw.
"Of course it was her, who else would take the nicest gun for her self just like that?" I muttered, pursing
my lips.
"My gun is much cooler" He bragged and I let a smile form on my lips.
"Haha, no" I cockily replied and he grinned, pleased with himself to have gotten me on in a better
mood.
I scooped a little bit closer to him and rested my head on his shoulder.
"What do you prefer to be called; Lucas or Luke? Or... Aha; Lucky!" I asked him out of the blue.
"Uhm..." He chuckled. "I don't know, my friends usually say Luke or Lucas, but I guess you can call me
Lucky if you'd like" He looked rather amused and I felt glad that he let me have my own nickname for
him.
"Just because you're so lucky to be my friend" I added grinning and he rolled his eyes, but I could see
that he was joking.
"Yeah, yeah. Don't get ahead of yourself now"
I pushed his shoulder and he bursted out laughing.
I leaned my head against him again and closed my eyes.
"Thank you" I mumbled.
"For what?" His raspy voice asked.
"For being here for me" I whispered quietly.

When I opened my tired eyes I was greeted by a dark room.
I looked around myself and saw that I was placed on a mattress next to a few other sleeping people.
When I looked closer I could see that the person sleeping next to me had curly hair and I immediately
recognized it as Lucas'. I also saw a smaller figure just next to him and smiled when I saw that it was
Harry.
I slowly sat up and grabbed my phone out of my pocket.
It was 5 in the morning. I grimaced when I realized that I only had 4 percent left.
"Raven?" I heard Lucas whisper quietly.
"Mmhmm" I answered. Laying down again, facing Lucas back.
He slowly turned around so he could look at me and I smiled tiredly.
He rubbed his eyes and yawned.
"Do you know what time it is?" He asked quietly, careful not to wake anyone up.
"5 in the morning" I answered, showing the screen of my phone.
"Do you want to go up?" He asked and I nodded.
Carefully we tiptoed out, I almost stepped on James but luckily managed to grab ahold of Lucas' arm
and move my foot before it collided with James' face.
I saw Lucas holding his hand in front of mouth to stop a laugh from escaping and I glared at him.
When we came out of the room, we closed the door behind us and I released a breath I hadn't realized
I was holding.
"That was close" Lucas mocked and I stuck my tongue out.
"Real mature" He commented and I laughed.
"Let's head downstairs" I suggested, ignoring his comment.
We walked down the stairs and sat down at the mat in the workout area.
"Do you want me to teach you some stuff now?" He asked me and I nodded.
Now was probably the only time we could be alone. Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
I knew that there was a few people outside, guarding the house and the rest of people were sleeping.
"We're supposed to watch the house in an hour" Lucas reminded me and I nodded.
"Well then you have an hour to teach me" My math skills calculated.
You're so talented Raven.
You deserve an applaud.
"Oh really?" He teased me and I laughed.
Lucas stood up opposites to me and offered me a helping hand.
I ignored his gesture and got up on my own, sticking my tongue out.
"How old were you again?" He asked and I flipped him off.
"Maybe we can try the guns tomorrow?" I asked him and he nodded.
"I've never shot anything in my whole life though" Lucas admitted and I nodded.
"Sandra taught me how to shoot when I was younger actually, my grandma owned a rifle range a few
years ago" I admitted, I didn't tell him that I participated in many different competitions and was in fact a
junior world champion and won a silver medal in the world championship.
"That's cool, are you any good?" He asked me, slightly surprised and I shrugged.
"Eh, I'm okay" I said casually, but my inner devil was smiling.
I'll freaking show him tomorrow.
