Chapter 27
Chapter 27
There was love in Ava’s eyes when she looked at Mason. She tried to hit on him back in college. However, her love was worthless when there were so many wealthy ladies vying for him.
She smiled lightly and spoke in a formal tone. “Perhaps Ms. Zoe should take over your personal matters now that she’s back. Does she still have to go through the procedure and register with me for the money and the jewelry?”
Mason found what she said distasteful. It was exactly what Zoe talked about when she asked for a divorce.
Ava took matters into her own hands when he did not give her an answer. “Leave it to me, Mr. Mason. I’ll see that it’s done.”
Mason looked at her wordlessly. He was a normal person with a functioning brain. He could definitely sense it when a lady loved and wanted him. He paid it no mind because it had never affected his life in the past. It was obvious, however, that Ava had overstepped her boundaries.
He thought deeply for a while before saying, “I’m sending you to our branch company in Canada next month. You’ll retain your title and wages.”
Ava was startled at that. She squeezed out a smile after a brief pause, “I have a boyfriend, Mr. Mason!”
She was met with silence. Gritting her teeth, she said, “I’m going to send you a wedding invitation next month, Mr. Mason!”
He rose lazily and said, “I’m looking forward to it.”
Ava was trembling. She knew deep down that Mason had seen through her and that this was his way of forbidding her to love him. Unable to hold it in, she asked, “Are you doing this because of
Zoe?”
He stopped and said sternly, “You’re wrong! I did it because you stepped out of line.” He needed a competent secretary, not a mistress who flirted with him. Ava had not been able to grasp this idea in all this time. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.

Zoe slept for the better part of the day. It was already evening when she woke up. It was dim in the bedroom. She sat up weakly, lowered her head, and looked at her silk pajama. Mason had probably put her into them.
At the next moment, memories of when she was drunk came flooding in her mind. He groped and fondled her in the car.
Then, he carried her upstairs and eagerly took off her stockings before they were even in the bedroom, making her wrap around her slender legs around his waist. She recalled that his belt was scraping her and she felt around to take it off.
Zoe shielded her eyes with her hands. She did not want to recall those memories, nor did she want to face up to it.
Mason was standing at the door, looking at her quietly. He had a two-hour meeting in the afternoon, so he was dressed in a formal outfit. Zoe had woken up and was staring off into space by the time he came back.
He could just guess what was on her mind. He said lightly, “Nothing happened! You were piss- drunk. What do you think could’ve happened?”
As a lady, Zoe had a certain sixth sense and it was telling her that Mason told her the truth. Both of them were silent when the servant brought the porridge up for her.
His servant was sharp. She sensed something was not right and smiled. “Mr. Mason was worried sick about you, Ms. Zoe! He ordered us early in the morning to make something that’d nourish you. This is barley porridge. Freshen up and eat it while it’s hot, Ms. Zoe. It’ll make you feel better.”
Zoe did not want to argue with Mason while someone was watching. He read her mind and took the tray from his servant. “Leave us for the time being!”
He closed the door, put the tray on a table, and looked at Zoe, “What are you waiting for? Do you want me to feed you the porridge?”
His tone was decidedly aggressive. He was still pissed off by what she said when she was drunk last night.
