I Refuse to Divorce

Chapter 15

Chapter 15

It was probably because Lilith attracted too much attention to herself that Lisa decided to take matters into her own hands. She sought out Zoe.

Zoe was performing in a supermarket. She was wearing a cheap dress the company rented for her, and her hands were bandaged up as well. Who would have thought that she was the former wife of the director of Lockwood Corporation?

Lisa stood where she performed with a solemn face. Zoe halted for a second when she saw Lisa. Nevertheless, she continued to play her violin. During the intermission, Lisa walked over and said coldly, “There’s a coffee shop outside. I’ll wait for you there.” Then, she left.

Zoe continued to clean her violin. One of her colleagues got worried, leaned in, and whispered, “Are you caught in a mess, Zoe? She looked like she meant trouble!”

She shook her head and smiled faintly, “It’s fine! She’s my… friend.” Her colleague did not really buy her story.

She changed into her usual attire and went to the coffee shop outside. Lisa was sitting by the window. It was easy to spot her because of her elegant outfit.

She went over and sat down. Lisa ordered her a cup of lemonade. “Coffee is bad for your skin.” Then, she looked at Zoe’s outfit and could not help but reprimand her.

“I can arrange the best band in the world if you want to have a taste of the life out there! Look at this place. Is this somewhere a lady of your standing should be working at? What’s more, look at your outfit. I want everything back to the way it is before Mason returns from Hucksburgh! What a mess.”

She said a lot of stuff, but Zoe simply listened and smiled faintly. “I think this is working out for me. Also, I’m divorcing Mason. Are you telling me you have no idea where he went?”

Lisa froze. This was the first time Zoe spoke to her in this tone and declined to call her ‘Mom.’ Regardless of how Mason treated her, Zoe had always paid her respect in the past. It was not easy for her to get used to the new Zoe.

Zoe decided to put all her cards on the table. “I know you don’t like me. I’m actually surprised you sought me out today. I’ve always thought you wanted me to split up with Mason.”

Lisa trained her gaze on Zoe without saying a word. Zoe had changed after such a long time. She was no longer the submissive lady. Instead, she was quite assertive.

With that said, Lisa had spent decades in high society. She was not someone to be trifled with either. She flashed Zoe a faint smile. A moment later, her smile vanished. “It’s true. I don’t like you! You’re way too pretty. Nothing good ever comes out of that!

“However, I like Lilith even less. She was a nobody whose background was questionable. I can’t believe she has the gall to try to marry herself into our family.”

Then, she laughed out of nowhere. “With that said, she doesn’t stand a chance! She’s a gimp and a divorcee. No man would want a lady like that, much less Mason!”

Zoe felt a chill up her spine at that, but Lisa was unperturbed. She touched Zoe’s cheeks lightly. “You’re very pretty! It’s no wonder Mason couldn’t let you go, despite how much he hated you!”

With that, she rose, looked around, and said lightly, “I’ll talk to Mason and make him take you back.” Then, she said disdainfully, “This place doesn’t suit you!” Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Lisa walked out of the coffee shop and into a limousine, which had been waiting for her for a long time. The chauffeur opened the car door for her. She let out a sigh of relief.

She knew what was on Zoe’s mind. Zoe must have felt like her wings were clipped and that her husband did not respect her in the least. However, who among them had not gone through this phase? A lot of them were exquisite ladies who couldnot win their husbands’ hearts.

Zoe was too young and had acted too impulsively!

With that, Lisa felt a sense of disdain again. She leaned against the window and saw a familiar figure. He was dashing, matured, and stood out among the crowd. However, he stuck out like a sore thumb in her eyes.

Lisa muttered, “That bastard!”

The chauffeur was driving and thought he heard it wrongly. There was no way Lisa would utter such profanity.

Lisa had left the place. Zoe sat in the coffee shop alone for a few minutes. She had no time to feel sad about the past. She had a busy life. She had to bring home the bacon.

It was midnight when it rained. Zoe was worried the water would get into the violin. So, she used her jacket to cover it up and ran toward the taxi stand. She intended to hail a cab, which was something she rarely did.

However, it was difficult to hail a cab because of the rain. She waited for half an hour on the rainy night. Shivering from the cold, she planned to run all the way back home. She had just taken two steps when she saw Mason. There was a black car right by the roadside.
