I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 486

Chapter 486 Doesn't Remember

However, this matter wasn't as straightforward as expected. After tracking Frank in the morning, Harper and Annie had to act as if nothing had happened to avoid his suspicion. Around three in the afternoon, Frank returned.

He had bought fruits and pastries and went straight to Harper's office.

He said, "I bought you some snacks."

Harper took them. "Why buy so much? Is your errand done?"

She stared into Frank's eyes, not missing any hint of his expression.

Frank nodded. "Yeah, it's done."

She just hummed in response, not saying anything else.

Frank didn't bother her much either, saying, "Make sure you share them with Annie. I bought extra."

"Okay." Harper nodded, then added, "I'll skip the thanks, then."

Frank smiled, seeming especially pleased that she didn't say thank you.

Once Frank left the office, Harper's smile faded away.

Before Frank returned, she and Annie had rehearsed several times to appear more natural before him. Despite being mentally prepared, Harper still felt flustered and nervous when facing him for real. She truly wished Frank would come clean about everything.

She also wanted to find loopholes to see if Frank had intentionally let her know about everything she currently knew.

But in the end, she didn't do either.

Harper sighed, glancing at the beverages and pastries on the coffee table. Her eyes gradually darkened.

After work, Harper left the office with Annie more than twenty minutes early to avoid repeating yesterday's situation.

They hailed a cab back to the apartment.

When they arrived, Angie was cooking, so Harper invited Annie to join them for dinner. They then sat on the sofa and chatted.

At one point, Harper checked the time on her phone and noticed that it was when Benjamin finished work.

However, she didn't show emotion and asked Annie, "Did Larry reach out to you?"

After all, they had quite a commotion last night, even though nothing serious happened. It could be considered a significant event compared to their usually peaceful nights. Annie shook her head. "No. After all, he was drunk. Maybe he doesn't even remember."

"Benjamin should remind him, right?" Harper said.

Annie chuckled self-deprecatingly, "Does it really matter whether he reminds him? What happens when you're drunk doesn't really count, so I don't want to bring it up again."

Harper expressed her understanding with a slight nod. Deep down, she couldn't help but wonder, "What if he reached out to you when he was sober?"

However, to avoid troubling Annie, she didn't voice her thoughts.

After all, she hadn't resolved her issues yet, so she had no right to meddle in others' affairs.

Throughout the day, Benjamin did not contact Harper. His questions from last night lingered in her mind. Since returning, she had checked her phone several times. As Benjamin's get-off work time approached, followed by the time he would drive back to the apartment from his office, Harper mentally rehearsed various scenarios. However, until

Angie had finished preparing dinner, Benjamin still hadn't returned.

A hint of disappointment flashed in Harper's eyes. She wanted to call him but thought, "It's not my fault, so why should I be the one to reach out?" So, she held back.

together. After finishing, Annie returned to her own apartment. She hadn't rested well last night and had been busy all day, so she was tired and wanted to take a showerand rest early.

Harper remained sitting on the sofa without moving. Benjamin didn't return until almost ten o'clock.

As soon as he entered, he saw

Harper sitting there. Upon hearing the door open, Harper immediately looked up at him. Their eyes met, and he squinted slightly, asking softly, "Something wrong?
