I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 206

Chapter 206 Henpecked

After exchanging greetings, Harper left the hospital before Scott and Lily. As she was about to leave, Lily suggested, "Harper, why don't you let Benjamin take you? You two haven't seen each other in a while, right?"

"Lily, I need to go to the office, and Benjamin should stay here with Grandpa," Harper replied.

Without waiting for a response from Lily, Harper turned and left, the first time she had ever walked away before a conversation was finished.

She really didn't want to stay any longer.

Watching Harper's retreating figure, Lily sighed silently, "Look at you, can't even appease your own wife. You deserve the scolding you got from Paul."

Lily's concern had evaporated, leaving only indifferent reproach.

Benjamin remained silent throughout, quietly enduring the criticism.

Tired of talking, Lily just glared at him sharply and then said, "Your grandpa already told you, if you don't make things right with Harper, don't bother coming home."

"Mr. Scott Martin, your wife, is always lecturing me. Aren't you going to say something?" Benjamin glanced at Scott, his voice low and teasing.

Scott simply replied, "I'm henpecked, so I'm no help to you."

Benjamin could only manage a helpless smile, saying nothing more, quietly enduring Lily's scolding.

But every other word she said was about Harper, and the image of this woman kept floating before his eyes. Harper possessed that swayed everyone's heart towards her. Benjamin's eyes narrowed slightly, an excellent detachment showing, but the shadows in his gaze lingered long after.

Harper left the hospital and went straight to the office.

Benjamin was stubborn, clearly set on implicating everyone connected to her.

Though her ties with the Mitchell family were tenuous, Harper didn't want innocent people dragged into her troubles.

But at that moment, she felt powerless, unsure of what to do.

As soon as Harper stepped through the company's entrance, Sophia seemed to have been waiting just for her, rushing up with a severe expression. "Ms. Mitchell, why are you just arriving now? I've called you several times, and you didn't

answer."

Harper checked her phone and realized it had been on silent, so she hadn't noticed the calls.

"I didn't hear it. What's the matter?" Harper responded calmly.

Sophia glanced towards Harper's office and whispered, "Your father's here looking for you." "My dad?"

"Yes, Mr. Jack Mitchell. It's probably about the Martin Group suddenly ending all cooperation," Sophia explained quietly, then couldn't help but ask, "Ms. Mitchell, you and Mr. Martin are close, right?"

Sophia wanted to ask if the rumors of marital strife were false but held back, fearing it might cost her a paycheck.

Harper just gave her a brief look, then headed straight for her office.

Inside, Jack was sitting on the sofa, his patience visibly running low. At that moment, the office door was opened, and Harper entered.

Jack didn't wait for Harper to speak,

bursting out, What exactly is going on with the Martin family? I called Martin Manor and they said Paul isn't home. Is this an excuse not to meet me? The Mitchell family has saved their lives before, is this how they show their gratitude?
